About The Heurist

The Heurist is a student run news editorial that provides students, staff and alumni with up to date news concerning The University of Westminster.

The Heurist Description

The Heurist, is an independent open source news editorial for the University of Westminster which is purely student-run. What do we mean by ‘open source’? To put it simply, the editorial has an open-door policy in which anyone can write and express their views, using The Heurist as a platform. However, there are a few rules. Unless the writer is writing for comment /opinion, he /she must consider both sides and opinions and report facts. Speculation is welcomed, but it must be stated so confusion doesn’t arise. Also, writers must refrain from illegal practices such as libel or slander.

The founder of the The Heurist, Ash Chetri has pledged to keep the publication ‘free and open’ whilst remaining politically and religiously neutral on articles. However, columns are mainly for the writer’s own opinions and therefore, this allows them write and express themselves more freely.

Writers can directly register as an author through the site, or can optionally email articles to the editor. Since this is an editorial, all articles and columns must be drafted for review. An editor’s role is not to regulate content, this is a violation of what The Heurist stands for. Rather, an editor’s role is to regulate quality.

If you’re a student, staff or alumni of Westminster and have something to share, then The Heurist is yours.
