The Bands of the Guards Division played a very special rendition of Three Lions on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace today (Friday) ahead of England’s World Cup quarter-final showdown with Sweden.
The troops are used to stepping forward to serve their country. This makes today’s gesture of unwavering support to the England team during the world-famous Changing the Guard ceremony particularly fitting.
For Changing the Guard, a full Military Band is provided, usually from one... of the five Guards Regiments. The bands often play a variety of music during the ceremony to entertain the operational Guardsmen and tourists alike, ranging from traditional military marches to contemporary popular songs.
The Welsh Guards Band provided musical support as the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards took over The Queen’s Guard from the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) who are currently in London performing Public Duties for three weeks, as well as participating in the the Royal Air Force 100th birthday celebrations next week.

The Household Division Saxophone Quartet will be traveling to Zagreb, Croatia to attend the World Saxophone Congress from July 10-14. The Quartet is formed of four of the finest saxophonists from across the Household Division and the Corps of Army Music. They have commissioned British composer Adam Gorb to write a piece for them that they will premiere at the Congress.
World Saxophone Congress is the biggest gathering of saxophonists from around the globe and the Quartet is thrilled to have the honour of performing at it. They regularly perform in the Guards Chapel Recital Series, as well as being featured on Scarlet and Gold.

Welcome to the final concert of the Music Festival at the Guards’ Chapel. Reuniting ‘One More Time’ the former members of the Household Division will perform a spectacular selection music conducted by former Director’s of Music.
Quick rehearsal before the concert at 5pm. Come along to The Guards' Chapel Square to hear this great concert by the Former Musicians of the Household Division.
Today we see the final concert of the Music Festival at the Guards’ Chapel. Reuniting ‘One More Time’ the former members of the Household Division will perform a spectacular selection music conducted by former Director’s of Music.
Who would have thought that after all this time in retirement they would be on parade - One More Time.
The concert is free to attend and held outside. Sit back with a glass of Pimms and enjoy this unique occasion.

'Music from the Stage' by the Band of the Scots Guards
We welcome The Coldstream Guards Jazz Orchestra to the Household Division Music Festival on Chapel Square. Don't forget about the concert with the Band of Scots Guards at 6pm. It's going to be a great show with a couple of guests from the West End.
Guards Horns with Friends are the performers for the Lunchtime Recital today. They are taking us to the movies. Enjoy!
It has been a great day at The Household Division Music Festival and there’s still more to come.
Tomorrow the Guards French Horns will take us to the movies at 1.10pm, then the Coldstream Guards Jazz Orchestra will perform ‘The Music of Ted Heath’ at 3.30pm. Band of the Scots Guards will then perform some great ‘Music from the Stage’ at 6pm.
All this for free, so come and enjoy all of this in the beautiful surroundings of The Guards' Chapel.

What a fantastic evening at Beating Retreat tonight. It was a spectacle unlike anything else I have seen, plus some truly moving moments. I cried like a baby during the Passchendaele piece. I will be back next year!

The household division is the best in the world may long it reign
Tradition and dress uniforms, precision in drill and turnout; Todays Household Division soldiers do credit and honor to their predecessors in tradition and remind us of sacrifice and service throughout the years. The Premier Division of the United Kingdom, a credit to the Nation and to the Sovereign they loyally serve.
They are wonderful always so smart and britians should be proud we have them
The Household Division - just the words make the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention. Blue Red Blue - the colours of excellence, loyalty, pride and sheer awesomeness.
The Beating Retreat performance yesterday was outstanding.
Son of a Grenadier ex Sectary of GGA Essex.
Too short so joined RN but always proud supporter of HD
Last of the great traditions of London - the regimental bands of the household division. Love the military bands but more loved taking the photos of these great regiments
It was a wonderful evening - great musicianship and spectacular pageantry. So proud to be British and well done to all who participated.

Every year it's worth the effort to come over from the Netherlands to see and hear what British military peagantry is all about. Allthough not British myself it still gives a sense of pride and respect for the men and women of the Household Division. Well done and untill next year!
