Are you on a decreasing policy for your life insurance? This week we have came across quite a few clients who HAVE decreasing policies and a lot of them don’t even know.
A decreasing policy is designed to protect the banks interest such as your mortgage. Each month you pay your direct debit your cover decreases and decreases until eventually at the end of your term you have no mortgage and no life insurance. However you will have continued paying the same direct debit amount... OR IN SOME CASES THE PRICE INCREASES over the term, even though you are getting less cover.
A level term is a better alternative for families with a mortgage and those without a mortgage. For example if you have a level policy for £150k this will remain £150k for the remainder of your term even if you only have £50k left on mortgage. This means THAT THE mortgage is covered and your family also have some cover left over.
