US researchers have found that caffeine and the compound EHT work together to prevent a build-up of a toxic protein in the brain. It's hoped this discovery may be able to help slow the progression of Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia in the future: http://ow.ly/By4230n1WL2

Today's #FridayFundraiser is Caitlin Hill, who has taken on an entire year of epic challenges for us! She has raised almost £1,000 so far - and here's a snapshot of just some of them. We feel exhausted just looking at it! If you're inspired, why not take on a challenge for us next year? http://ow.ly/Z4Ql30n23gC

#TBT Happy Christmas from 1916! This is a photo from from the Soldiers' Ward at The National Hospital, where many WW1 soldiers were receiving care for 'shattered nerves, blindness, shell shock and head & spinal injuries'. The hospital had to put out an urgent appeal for funds to help cope with the increase in patient numbers, but the staff still managed to create some festive cheer with trees and decorations in each ward ⭐️🎄 #queensquare #nhnn #neurology #neurosurgery #history

Last few days to order your festive tree tag for the Queen Square Christmas Tree! We have more than 50 tags up so far, but it's not too late to share your own message of thanks to the staff at The National Hospital, or remembrance for a loved one. Thank you to everyone who came to our Carol Concert last Thursday. We had a ball - and from the messages and phone calls we've since received, it sounds like you did too! We raised £7,500 for our Aphasia Appeal, which is an amazing amount. Thank you to our stellar cast of readers, the wonderful musicians and to all of you who gave so generously on the night ⭐️🎄

You guys saved my life. Had it not been for you guys and all the team leading to, performing and looking after me after my temporal lobe resection, I would not be alive today. Thank you so much.

User

Very good hospital..

Very nice neurology team who actually listen and care for you as a individual not a number.

User

The hospital and the staff are all fantastic. From the surgeons, to the ward nurses, right through to the cleaners. Everyone of them waited on me hand and foot. The facilities and food were top notch too. I really felt like I'd been staying in a hotel on holiday. My post care has been brilliant as well. I really have nothing bad to say about my experiences. I would highly recommend getting involved in this charity, they need and deserve all the support we can give!

User

The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery have been caring for me when needed for nearly 38 years (since I "graduated" from Great Ormond Street Hospital) - I'm forever grateful for what they did for me in 1995 - when I had 7 operations over 5-and-a-half weeks to cure me of a deep-rooted brain infection, as well as hydrocephalus. I've had stability ever since, and I thank you - thank you to all the surgeons, doctors & nurses. Casper

User

Thank you for giving me my life back. Without you I wouldn't be where I am today.

User

My sister, my daughter,my nephew ,and myself owe our lives to this wonderful hosp , from all aspects of staff everyone is fantastic ,I'm sure people attend their appointments with nerves and anticipation but for us all staff have made us feel very comfortable and answer all our worrying questions in words we can understand ,my family have been attending the national for 24 years now as we have the ccm1 gene which causes cavernomas in the brain ,brain stem, behind the eyes ,we are a large family and 4 of us have been hit with this ( hopefully no more) ,

All our visits have been very positive even if it is something we have to live with the rest of our lives .

We all love the national hospital.

I was diagnosed with left temporal meningioma in 2014. I consequently had a surgery, at The National Hospital, on my cranium and tumour was removed. I had a wonderful experience of the nursing care and feel very appreciative for every aspect of my treament. All the symptoms of my disorder disappeared. Thank God and thank you ALL.

User

I probably wouldn't be here to post a review without the amazing people of Queen Square. So far they've given me another 12 years and a wife and son. Thank you. xx

User

I had shunt surgery at this hospital. Wonderful staff. Can't fault the treatment I receive.

User

I had my surgery in December 2014, I had right temporal lobe resection, hopefully this will significantly reduce my seizures allowing me to have a better quality of life on less medication, best case scenario obviously would be a complete cure, however we must stay within the realms of reality and I know this is unlikely, not impossible though, so fingers crossed! :)

I never dreamed that any of this would be possible so I'm just blessed to have the opportunity for a chance, who would have thought such a thing could be possible, for all of us, anyone with a neurological disorder, for as long as we keep supporting and funding The National Brain Appeal who's to say some day they won't be performing these miracles for everyone like they have for me!

I believe they will, because for as long as they can, they'll never stop striving, searching and pushing for the next breakthrough!

I am truly blessed and forever grateful to have this opportunity, I do hope everyone gets the same

User

Fantastic x wot more can I say xx

User

Fantastic care was given to my mum when having her brain tumour removed and I can't thank the hospital enough for looking after her and us so well. She has raised £5000 for the hospital by completing the Thames Path Challenge not even a year after the surgery, and without such great care she would not have been able to do this, so thank you.

User

Fabulous hospital, excellent care and treatment provided to my husband - can't thank Andrew McEvoy or Sofia Eriksson enough for their help.
