Wonderful service. Arrived half an early and our table was ready for us. The staff were courteous, helpful and made for a great dining experience. The food was also delicious and there was a great choice of seasonal dishes! We'd highly recommend the small and relaxed restaurant to everyone looking for great food, excellent service and exceptional value.

The restaurant was great with a laid back/informal atmosphere but what really stood out was the food- absolutely delicious- at one point I wondered if anyone would notice if I used my finger to lick the bowl clean. (I managed to resist). Our waitress was great and we were glad she suggested the burrata and the veal. Will definitely go back.

In London for our annual Christmas treat weekend and we were really looking forward to our visit to Jun Tanaka's restaurant. We weren't disappointed, it was the most delicious dinner. Love the sharing plates concept since I always have food envy! Started with fabulous scallops with pumpkin risotto and a sea bass carpaccio. Mains of beef cheeks in oxtail consomme and salt baked venison with cavolo nero and hazelnuts. Who knew greens could taste like chocolate! Beetroot tarte tatin with feta and pine nuts was outstanding. Catching a glimpse of Chef Jun popping out of the kitchen was great too. The Ninth is exceptional food in a relaxed setting. The staff were professional, very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended and I have no doubt we will go again.

Fantastic meal!!! Nice to see a small well prepared and full of flavour restaurant been award a star for the food! Spoke to the owner/chef Juan before booking about my wife being a veggie!! Was so understanding and went through the menu! Probably the best risotto i have had tried in a long time and my lamb cutlets so succulent, packed full of flavour and spices just wanted more!! I never eat off the bone but these were to die for! Only down full could of eaten more but that’s my fault for not ordering more sides!!

Thank you ninth for making it a memorable night!!

Where do I start. The restaurants concept is sharing plates. Table for two on Saturday August 19th 2017 to celebrate an anniversary.

We were seated downstairs, the restaurant was buzzy and a good atmosphere for a Saturday night.

We ordered two plates under the menu heading of 'snacks', flat bread and oxtail croquettes.

Two starters of Langoustine Ravioli. For main course one Lamb en croute and a special which was not on the menu of a fillet of beef. Plus two sides of vegetables ( potatoes and cauliflower). The waiter warned us at the start that there would be a wait for the beef, which we said there would be no rush, as I had already decided on my dessert and cheese for later.

Each time a waiter passed the table they felt the need to top up the water and wine glasses, even when there was no need to top up. Not sure if this is a ploy to get you to buy more wine.

The oxtail croquettes were excellent. Literally within seconds of the first plates being removed from the table, the starters were being plonked down on the table and I mean plonked.

Two portions of langoustine ravioli. £16 ahead for four ravioli which were divine.

We then waited a reasonable pause for the main course. The lamb en croute arrived with the two sides of vegetables. I was told the beef would be another minute. My partner was waiting to start their meal, after asking two waiters where my meal was and a wait of in excess of 10 minutes, my meal arrived. My partner couldn't wait much longer to start eating the lamb as cold lamb does not taste good. The vegetables had to be replaced as they were cold by the time my meal arrived.

The waiter was apologetic, but this is a restaurant with a Michelin star, the fillet of beef was £39. If you are trying to be more like Wagamama, and serve food as and when it arrives then charge the prices of wagamama and other fast food outlets. People go to a fine dinning restaurant for the whole experience, and not to sit opposite your dinning partner and to eat at different times.

This was an order of two mains and two sides and if the food was not ready at the same time it should not have left the kitchen. Basics.

This tainted the evening and we decided to forego dessert, cheese and coffees. What was supposed to have been a celebration left us feeling very disappointed. This is a great shame as the food we had was excellent, the service unfortunately doesn't match. The hard wooden bistro style chairs are also extremely uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time.

As for the concept of sharing, from my experience it is a cop out.

To be fair the food was 5 star, however the servers left me feeling uncomfortable - we had a lovely waitress however there was another waitress and the barman seemingly making fun of diners - the barman took a glass of wine to a table and as he walked away he was pulling a face to one of the waitresses seemingly to mock that diner - also service seemed super

Casual for a Michelin star meal that cost £120 for 2 with no alcohol - left knowing we won't return as had much better experiences elsewhere.
