We recently held a wake in the pub after a funeral service at Herongate Wood. I would definitely recommend anyone to consider going here. The management and staff couldn't do enough for us both on the day and beforehand. The food was simple but of excellent quality which everyone enjoyed but at a reasonable price unlike other chain pubs in the area. The delivered exactly what they promised. Worth much more than we paid

User

We popped in for lunch on Monday afternoon. It speaks volumes that the place was busy and buzzing. We hadn’t booked a table but were warmly welcomed. The staff were delightful and quickly served us with drinks. The menu was delicious and we struggled to decide what to have! Would throughly reccomend this pub, the food was all served hot and presented beautifully, everyone enjoyed it immensely! We shall return soon.

We had a Delicious lunch today....we were trying to find a dog friendly pub and this was our first visit....lovely quaint pub, shall come back one evening for a meal inside....the only thing that needs some attention is some of the wooden chairs in the garden...bit rickety and rusty screws hanging out....but didn't spoil our time there...definitely would go back....friendly welcoming staff too xx

User

Very nice and original pub, good food and very good beer too! Highly suggested

User

My husband and I unexpectedly popped into this unique and picturesque country pub on a Sunday lunchtime where the staff manage to squeeze us into a busy restaurant.

We had a very tasty seasonal root vegetable soup followed by the roast special - both really lovely and we throughly enjoyed our meal. Great speedy service too!

User

Lunch today was delicious. My sister had the pork chop and I had the lamb and veg pie of the day. We certainly enjoyed the food and the staff were friendly. Lots of people there enjoying great food, not too crowded but a steady flow of happy customers.

User

Lovely place with a friendly atmosphere. The beer garden was delightful on the sunny day we visited and the inside was just what you imagine a cute country pub to be like! Friendly staff and great food. Very dog friendly!

User

Lovely meal, quality food, good service

User

Have visited this pub regularly over the last few years for dinner and lunch. Food is always excellent and the staff are very friendly. The fish finger sandwich on their delicious granary bread is my favourite lunch time treat 😊

User

Great food, friendly staff. Lovely little garden- shame it's not bigger.

User

Food was amazing will definitely be back

User

Been here a few times over the past few years, lovely place to visit. Gorgeous garden for the summer and cosy indoors when it's cold out. Perfect pub all year round. The food and the service are fantastic too - we stopped for lunch today with our one year old and it was great.

User

A Monday evening for an old friends reunion. Staff could not be more friendly and accommodating. Menu wasn’t extensive but our choices were well cooked and presented. We were kindly given the whole of the back room and allowed to reminisce and tell stories to our hearts content. At no point were we rushed along. Love this inn, not my first visit and won’t be my last.

User

We were recommended The Old Dog for lunch. Food was good but service was slow long wait In between courses.

User

Not been for a couple of years. Only had a beer and sat in the garden. Garden seemed to be better kept and tidier which was nice. By the bar entrance used to be a board explaining about the age of the Inn etc. Maybe been moved to inside or elsewhere. Can't imagine why something as important as that would be taken away.

User

Nice food but very slow service. Only ordered main courses but took far too long to arrive. Plus the Dog friendly Doghouse area is very small and full of people without dogs so we couldn't eat there. The dogs had to stay in the car and we are in the restaurant area. To be far to them though it's a very nice pub and the staff are very friendly.
