Went to the Valentine's meal last night. (Disclaimer - the wife won it through their Facebook competition) the food and service were excellent. The atmosphere was nice, with no screaming kids running around. The Poppyfields is our restaurant of choice anyway. If anything was bad, I would have mentioned it (even though we won last night's meal) but it wasn't. We like the Marston brand (Lincoln Poacher and The Elms when we're away from home) and have never had a bad meal. And a big thank you too Deanna for the wonderful service.

Went here for the first time last night and I was very pleased with my experience. We turned up early and was taken to our table but was allowed to go outside so the kids could play and was told to just let them know when we wanted to order. We wasn't rushed and got to enjoy a very relaxed evening. Food was lovely and the service was excellent, all for a good price. Will definitely be coming back again!

Love this place staff are all lovely and friendly and the food is always fab and good portion sizes defo recommend for a nice lunch with friends or a fab night out

I am caeliac so gluten free. They had a gluten free menu which was nice to have. ( some thing quite simple but unfortunately quote rare when you eat out) it was lovely food and reasonably priced. I would certainly recommend .

Despite where it is situated it is a lovely place, nice garden area, we booked a table in advance but due to issues on the road we were running late and would miss our table. My wife rang to explain and they offered to rebook the table in another half an our. Upon arrival we were seated quickly as for a Saturday we were expecting it to be very busy. We bought drinks and our waitress took our order. The food was very nice, succulent chicken and my wife's plate was very full to the point that she could not finish, lol. We wanted to sit outside as we had met up for a leaving do. We explained to our waitress that we wanted dessert but we're moving out into the garden, she explained we would have to find an empty table and so would take our order and have it sent out (we paid our main bill and also for the desserts, which we had no problem with) OVERALL very happy, especially as it was our first time visiting. We certainly go again. Am sure people do wait at busy times, but that's just part of going to restaurants.

Been to the restaurant for the current menu and the one before last may. Both times found the staff accommodating and friendly. The restaurant clean and to a high standard. The food has been absolutely delicious. The children enjoy the books provided for varies ages and abilities a life saver when waiting for food and the younger child enjoy the play corner and all love the out door apparatus. Have recommended many family and friends to go there. We liked it so much we took the parents with us this time !

A well set out place, staff really nice and the food was great. I had a half chicken, skin chips and jerky sauce 👍👍 pudding sticky toffee. All cooked to a good standard, a nice pleasant meal and they where busy too. Thank you

I went there during a dinnertime period on a weekday..Although a little expensive for two meals and soft drinks, all in all I found it quite good.

I should imagine that it could be a different matter if you go there at the weekend at a peak time though.

Lovely place, shame at 7 on a Saturday night they had run out of rump steak, then out of the beer my husband ordered. Chips were soggy, and kale slaw consisted of coleslaw with a piece of kale on top!

Had to wait over an hour for our food, and when we did get it tasted very bland, and my mixed grill was over cooked so pretty tough ..... won’t be going back again in a hurry

very disappointed and upset to find chicken in my vegy meal .I sent it back and they took it off the bill and after asking what they would do the waitress said" oh sorry that is supposed to vegetarian "offered me a free dessert worth £2 seriously ! and still had to pay rest of bill! so beware you may get something extra in your meal it disgusting!!! don't go there!

You may want to chance it but please DO NOT. Denied booking - even though a few weeks after booking 1 called in and confirmed. Made up tables - relief. But no. Food was poor - my meal never arrived - side orders came way after main meal. Wrong meals given. Cold food. As it was a special occasion I was devastated . Then - to cut a very long story short - it was all our fault - we were rude and shouting. We said to the next table sorry if you thought we were rude and shouted at staff. They strongly stated. But you wasn’t . Then manager asked us to leave. Unbelievable. Customer service should never contain lies and asking us to leave when we truly hadn’t done anything other than point out the book of errors. My 89 yr old mother was so upset. DO NOT use them. Couldn’t have been worse !!!

Well.... well.....well!! where do I start... my partner works around the corner from this place... and comes here for most lunch breaks... really don’t see why!! But there we go... so my partner pre order his and his work college there lunches. I then turned up at 1 and my partner asked what I wanted and to add it to the order which clearly isn’t that difficult but to theses it clearly is!!! So we waited and waited and waited just a heads up my partner only gets an hours break!!! 45 mins later there’s comes out... nearly a whole hour later mine comes out after asking where it was to find out that it wasn’t on the order they had given it to someone else. My partner had to ask for cutlery to find out there wasn’t any and then didn’t even get told that it was filled up. Finally mine came out and just looked as if the chips where just chucked on there!! This place is the best place to go in Maidstone NOT!!!! ��

We were told on the phone we could go before 5pm and it would cost less, we said we had vouchers, so we booked.

There was no waitress, had to order at bar, even tho the restaurant was virtually empty!

We said we had vouchers, as it was someones birthday, but was told no tab for table was allowed.

No one told us it was a certain Menu to order for the discount that was advised before 5pm, The menu was hidden, not on display. They told this us we ordered from the wrong menu when we went to pay.

We were not aloud to use all our vouchers, and couldn't use the before 5pm Discount.

Not very friendly, Cold Staff, No Happy Birthday! Miss guiding money off vouchers!

Completely different service to when i went there in 2017.

I will not be going again.

30 min wait for order to be taken (only 2 tables in front of us) 40 minute wait for food with 2 young children. When food arrived cold chips, horrid dry burnt halloumi and enamel chips off the cups used in some of the food.



No one came back to check if food was ok. We had to grab the waitress to tell her how bad our food was. Only to be told that they had reported the cups chipping to head office but have been told "it's a standard so we have to carry on with it". And "the chefs will get a bollocking if they dont" at that point we asked to speak to the manager as now the waitress is using bad language infront of our children, only to be told that the manager was serving behind the bar and was too busy and the supervisor was busy running another section. When she finally came over they took one meal off and 20%. I went to walk out with the rest of my party but forgot the till receipt so popped back only to find the manager had freed himself up from the bar and was now talking to our waitress, he saw me and ran back behind the bar.



We weren't the only people complaining either at least 4 other tables were asking about the wait. Watching the chefs through the window they didn't seem bothered that there was no food coming out.



Trust me as a chef for over 20 years (I was taken there for my Mother in laws birthday) I would advise anyone reading this and thinking of eating here not to!!!



I have emailed the manager/head office and left reviews on here, trip advisor and Google. I wonder if I will get anything back???



If the wait for food is anything to go by I doubt it!

The staff were un-attentive. Food took an hour to come out even though tables around me (who weren’t even sat when we ordered) all received their food before us. It came out cold with no apology. Will not be returning

My girlfriend ordered a half chicken with hunters sauce, mac n cheese and kale-slaw. When it arrived the chicken was completely dry, the cheese sauce was blackened and the bacon was so dry it shattered when cut. The mac n cheese looked as much like the image in your menu as a MacDonalds does and lets now mention the "homemade kale-slaw" which only had a single tiny leaf of kale in it (We have pictures if you need them).



We complained and got met with a couldn't-care-less attitude from 2 different staff members. Eventually they agreed to remove that meal from the bill but there was no ownership of the issue and basically the serving staff (and the manager) just shrugged it off like this was a normal occurance.



We got offered no option for desert or coffees, it was just "here is the bill now go". No-one even came over to take payment and we needed to get up and pay at the bar on the way out.



If this is the service your company prides itself in then you've lost some customers tonight.

Just visited here for my mums birthday lunch and was disgusted with the service and food. They are understaffed massively and the wait for the food was an hour. Id understand but we were one of three tables! My halloumi was as thin as the napkins, chips were cold and the cups they came in had chiped and left the enamel on the food. Not the nicest to bite down on. When we tried to complain the two managers were too busy and the young, clearly inexperienced girl told us that the chefs were ‘always getting a bollocking’. We had two small children at our table!!! Not happy!!! To then get hit with the bill was a disgrace!!!!

Had booked table for 7.30pm (three weeks earlier) we were seated straight away - had to wait 30 minutes to be seen to - another 45 minutes for drinks and starters then a further hour for mains- food was overlooked dry and cold- jug of water ordered at 8.15 finally arrived at 10pm- very disappointed - I appreciate they were v busy and staff were doing best they could but a real let down -
