For those waiting to know yesterday’s #ThrowbackThursday post, It was Sir Hounsfield, whom along with Allan Cormack, both shared the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine (1979) for their work on developing the #CT. Take a look at how our technology has now changed!

User

Loved it is the wrong description when going in to hospital for surgery and subsequent pain etc.

I've been on the 2nd floor orthopaedic ward over 15 times. Nursing staff fabulous by day. Cannot do enough for you. The place is spotless and catering very good too.

User

Just had procedures and 5 nights in this hospital. Thank you to all the staff for wonderful care on 5th floor especially Ciara from Carlow and Alex from Dresden ! Thank u again and best wishes.

User

Just had ACL reconstruction and would like to thank Mr Patel for repairing my knee, along with Alexander my lovely nurse, Dr Verma and his tattooed assistant whose name I can't remember, for putting me to sleep and all the wonderful staff that cared for me throughout the night. The staff exceeded my expectations and I hope my recovery is as seamless as my stay at the princess grace hospital.

If one has to be in hospital, there is no better place to be!

User

I'm having Lymphoedema treatment by Nicole de Havilland and can't sing her praise enough, she has not only started my recovery but also soothed my soul by her judicious use if massage and reiki. When I first got to the breast clinic I was a bit concerned about the basic look of the reception area (perhaps spoiled by the plush London Bridge oncology department) but Nicole and also Sophia and Selina have made it an experience with their positive attitude, kindness and professionalism! A big thank you to you all.

User

I would just like to thank all the staff at The Princess Grace Hospital for a comfortable and welcoming stay for my ACL Op which I had recently on the 6th Jan. Professor Fares Haddad & his team were absolutely brilliant throughout in terms of keeping me informed and carrying out a successful operation thus far. Also, the reception team as well as the ward staff and nurses were all very helpful and I couldn't have asked for more during my stay. A special mention to Taz who was one of my main nurses to look after me before and after my Op, he provided exceptional service from when I first got admitted up until the minute I got discharged. A truly great asset to the hospital as were all the staff involved. Highly recommended hospital, absolutely first class! (Saf Patel, ACL Reconstruction, Room 205 on 6th Jan 2015)

User

I spent 2 nights in intensive care followed by 5 nights on the ward after having my spleen removed and half of my pancreas. My surgeon Charles Imber was absolutely fantastic and visited me every day, kept me updated with everything going on and a genuinely nice guy! All the nurses were absolutely great and looked after me thoroughly. The hospital is more like a hotel. No faults from me.. if I have to be in hospital again I'll be picking this one!

User

I have been here a number of times now and the level of care is very good. My two professors I see (Professors Leem and Professor Jiao) both of them are so warm and friendly and there smiles make you feel instantly better. John the anaesthetist always asked and remembers how my business is going, there all brilliant and we could go somewhere closer to home (I live in Leeds) but I feel more confident coming here as they all go out of there way to care for me.

Thank you so so much.

User

Great hospital great staff great care team only disappointing aspect was the fact I was asleep before I had the chance to do the general anaesthetic countdown #feelcheated

Gladys thanks for putting up with me being a whingy old git. ÔøΩÔøΩÔøΩ

User

Fabulous from start to finish - it was not me having the op which made it even more fabulous but what a great experience - thank you all

User

Cant fault them at all. Eugene, Laura, Hameed Proff Ameet Patel and others I can't remember their names. Thank you all so much. I left my jewellery there too, they kept it for me ÔøΩÔøΩ Will definetly be back, hopefully not too soon xx

User

Amazing Hospital, impeccably ran with fantastic staff, facilities and food. So good I'm considering injuring my knee again when I have recovered! In all seriousness a huge thank you to Prof Fares Haddad and the team who assisted me during my stay you are a credit to your industry!

User

Always professional and we'll organised. Also food menu now available through the day rather than set meal times.

User

My husband had a minor procedure. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The doctor that performed the procedure was very efficient and precise. The only problem I had was while waiting for my husband to finish, I needed some cold water to drink but the machine/water fountain was broken.

User

I know one thing that one of the best nurses,my husband is working over there and that's why I am sure that it is good hospital as such dedicated people r working over there.May God bless them.Amin

Postoperative follow-up is very average...

User

Very disappointing care given. I was kept in recovery room for over 2hrs. The hospital was responsible for having my medication ready before I went home. The medication wasn't ready. The staff suggestion was that I should go myself to an after hours pharmacy and get pain relief medication. Note that I had an operation 3 hours previously and had limited mobility. After my operation, had to wait 3 hours for pain relief medication. By this time the local was wearing off. Crutches and shoes were not organised as prescribed - unsure how the nurses thought I was to walk- I had an operation on my foot meaning I could not put any wait on one foot. Oh wait, I can hop. Absolutely no empathy from staff. Let down miserably today by Princess Grace. Pre-op, operation theater, and recovery staff were wonderful. Shame that post recovery is so very poor.

On arrival on the 14th we were promised sleeping arrangements for me to accompany my partner Rebecca Norman , on her knee surgery. This was at 11 a.m. Post op having not eaten or drank for 14 hours, she requested some food and drink, was met with 'haven't you had any dinner?' like she was being challenged? Again we requsted sleeping arrangements, the response was 'we're too busy'. We were room transferred eventually at 11.30 p.m.! My partner was subjected to being trundled around the room and corridor by 2 nurses who didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing, banging and crashing her bed into walls, I had to grab the drips pole to stop it crashing over! At no time did they show any concern for her and needless to say she was getting very stressed and upset. It got worse. As we arrived to the transfer room one of the nurses started pulling the bedside cabinet around which had our phones and tablets on it, Rebecca tried to point this out but was ignored and the nurse just ripped the plugs out of the wall, which further upset my partner, who was by now sobbing. No concern was shown for her feelings, I was so angry, however kept myself calm so as not to distress her further. The nurses clearly had no empathy for the situation and seemed put out that they had to do it. The whole transfer was a cock up beginning to end. Every time my partner tried to point out what they were doing, they were dismissive. Appallingly by any standards. There's more, virtually every meal service we' ve had has had an item or items missing, again we were challenged by staff as if it was our fault! A formal complaint has been made, several apologies been recieved. We are planning to escalate our complaint, as this is not the level of service you would expect from a world class private hospital. On a positive note Professor Haddad and the medical team have been absolutely awesome. We are still waiting for a response as to what if any action has been taken? I had hip surgery in the Royal Birmingham Orthopaedic a few years ago, on the NHS, with no hassle whatsoever. Extremely disappointed Princess Grace Hospital. You will be hearing more from us. UPDATE one year later we have recieved several apologies and been told we have to re appeal our appeal. It would seem these people are untouchable. They can continue giving poor care and appalling customer service with no consequences.
