Congratulations to our friends at akitu, who won the IWC Sustainability trophy the second time in 3 years! Well done you!!
Why don’t you come and taste the delicious Pinot Noir they making. We’re serving the A2 by the glass and another + it’s vegan friendly!

Starting this weekend we're going to close on Sunday evenings so we can enjoy the odd aperol spritz ourselves and make the most of this glorious summer! So, we're serving brunch until 3pm as usual (both floors!), and then we're open until 4pm in the Tapa Room for drinks. Saluti!

Ooh it's a good one from Peter Gordon in his Bite column this week. What to do with left-over Vietnamese mint...

User

Come and taste some of our new dishes. One of which is this Jamon serrano, peach, chorizo croquette and goats curd pesto dish.

Calling all fans of The Sugar Club! Peter Gordon's Auckland Sugar Club restaurant is celebrating it's 5th birthday in August and they are in search of amazing stories and pics to help document the history of the restaurant. If you have any images from the Wellington site in 1986, or the Notting Hill and Soho London outposts in 1995 / 1998, or the most recent in the Level 53 of the Sky Tower please share here or email through to enquiries@thesugarclub.co.nz and they'll come back to you.

How many of these cities have you eaten in?
London's just been voted the second best city in the world to eat global food in (after New York) and we were very pleased to have been listed as the favourite spot here! Check out the list below and thanks to Business Insider UK too!

Pretty pleased that Peter Gordon's latest book (Eating Well Everyday) is the cookbook of the month (for July) at Great British Chefs!

User

Veggie Curry is sensational!!! Crunchy lotus was yum. I also really loved tapioca and mango for dessert. Combination and amount of spices is just right for both. Def coming again! Can't wait!!

User

The most amazing food we've had in the whole of London. And a NZ owned restaurant. Peter Gordon the food was outstanding. We'd highly recommend the beef dish and aubergine. And the cocktails are great as well. Was a fantastic experience at a NZ restaurant in the amazing city of London.

User

One of my favourite places to go in London. Peter Gordon is a food hero. Bumped into him at his restaurant in Auckland, The Sugar Club, not long after it had opened. Told him I loved Providores (particularly the Turkish eggs and the Stornaway black pudding). In return, he shouted us dessert. Awesome geezer. I'd sulk if I couldn't get there for 10:00 on a Sunday for breakfast.

User

Lovely food, great atmosphere, very good coffee. Will call again.

User

Loved this place. Was my birthday so wanted something special and it didn't disappoint. Food, service, ambience great. As a kiwi in London it made me feel a little bit at home.

User

Loved every minute of our dining experience last night. From the ambience, the amazing food, the dynamic and super friendly staff, just everything. I savoured every mouthful! Thanks so much to the amazing team who looked after us, we will definitely be back for more!

User

I've eaten here solo twice this week, evening and brekkie. The waitstaff were helpful and friendly, the wine excellent. I particularly loved the scallops, laksa and tapioca... I would say the Turkish eggs weren't my favourite and Peter should visit the Chop Shop in Arrowtown when next in NZ as theirs are awesome. Still I loved it and when next in London I'll be there again!

User

Great vibes, excellent service. The food was absolutely fabulous!! Strongly recommend it to everyone. I will definitely come back to this place! Thank you for the amazing experience!!

User

Great food, excellent service and an 18 page kiwi wine list? Amazing place that made us want to go back the next day. Highly recommended. Not a banger or mash in sight!!

User

Great food , service excellent , we’ve been many times and always

A fun night

User

Fantastic food - were there for dinner. Love the concept of the menu in terms of fusion but also liked the dinner menu of smaller plates not being fixed to the whole starter main course idea. What we had was beautifully balanced portions, incredible flavours and discreet informative service. Had been wanting to visit for a while and were not disappointed at all. A perfect night especially the birthday touch from the kitchen - thanks

User

Beautiful dinner. Simple, perfectly seasoned, great service. Couldn’t have been better.

User

Awesome place ! With nice people and great chief mr Peter Gordon ! Thanks for all.. I LL be back !!!

User

All Kiwis visiting London should make a visit. The biggest wine list in London! The food is fab and the service is excellent!

User

Overpriced to be honest as the food was well presented but didn't equate to the price paid.

User

It was a special evening for my husbands birthday. The food was really nice and unusual, but it was served on cold plates. My coffee was Luke warm too. Such a shame as you have to send it back and wait for it again.

User

I had brunch in the Tapa Room last weekend. I had read good reviews about the brunch. Food was good but the portion sizes vary wildly and some dishes are better than others. The Turkish eggs are very good. Avocado or mushrooms on toast is also a good order. My partner ordered the grilled chorizo brunch which came with a ridiculous amount of sweet potato mash. Far too much next to the rest of the ingredients (one poached egg alongside a family size bowl portion of sweet potato mash and one chorizo sausage cut in half). On the other hand I ordered the seared tuna with salad which was a ridiculously small portion. Barely even starter size and did not represent good value for money. Service was friendly and the setting is nice but the kitchen need to be a bit more consistent with the dishes if this place is to attract repeat business. I won't be rushing back and wouldn't go out of my way to go here but it's a decent brunch option if you happen to be in the area.

User

High expectations as years ago this was a real go to place. May have been a bad day for the crew, but, the coffee was mediocre, in NZ they would say piss poor. The lovely waitress took my order wrong and the food was nice but cold. It was a pleasant experience but for all you kiwis out there the world has moved on.

User

The Providores gave a bad service tonight, my friend was attacked for a group of drunk people on the restaurant. Unbelievable, the restaurant allowed this kind disrespectful behavior to one of their guest, who was having a nice dinner with friends (couple), because they didn't do anything to deal it, I'm not going to come if they treat people who is insulted and threat like that to their guests and the manager don't do anything!
