About The Real Mccoy'S

The Real McCoy's delivers state of the art American military work and sports wear items from the past.

The Real Mccoy'S Description

The Real McCoy's is a brand like no other. To many the outdated features of vintage clothing have little significance in today's modern society, but this is exactly what influences the brand. American fashion of the 1940's and 1950's is a source of great inspiration; a young country unburdened by the restrictions of traditional customs, one that’s uninhibited, rational and innovative.

However, this ideology is not enough. To make extraordinary clothing with vintage details and twists requires the sensitive minds and outstanding work of craftsmen in Japan. They are highly skilled at manufacturing materials using the same methods and machinery from the past. Whilst they endeavour to create the very best reproduction, they also seek to make it even better than the original.

The catalyst for the brand has been its owner Mr Hitoshi Tsujimoto, who has incredible vision. Originally an esteemed vintage collector and dealer, he took the bold step of recreating some classic pieces from his vast collection. Much of the team around him has been involved in the process since the beginning, and to visit the brand’s headquarters is akin to watching a close knit family at work - all sharing the same values and vision.

The Real McCoy's brand is split into distinct sub brands to give each one a clear identity. The name refers to the Military reproductions from the US Navy, Army and Airforce.

Joe McCoy includes American sportswear, denim and workwear.

Double Diamond - which was bought out by Joe McCoy in 1912 - is a line that’s dedicated to reproducing actual vintage work wear from the turn of the century.

Buco is the legendary motorcycle clothing brand (started by Joseph Buegeleisen), and is famous for the J-100 and J-24 jackets among others. Since acquiring the licence for it, Hitoshi Tsujimoto has managed to breathe life into a brand that had faded away.

... The market for wind resistant jackets grow in demand correlating with the sudden surge in motorisation. For the most part, traditional jackets from the 1930s featured hand warmer pockets with large patch pockets on the waist.

The REAL McCOY'S TWO PACKS TEES
WHITE - GREY - BLACK
... Packaged T-Shirts with its signature American look existed as early as the late 1940s. 2-3 shirts were packaged together in a plastic bag, the design of the package unique from brand to brand.
The American spirit of rationalism and the country’s status as an advertisement juggernaut were surely responsible for the birth of this idea.
The design of the disposable bags plays role in the purchasing decision, something which may seem paradoxical given that the tees are concealed inside, but this form of packaging has now become global standard.
The ultimate basic Tee. Tubular construction with no side seams makes for an incredible fit. They’re completed with a ribbed reinforced neckline.

THE REAL MCCOY'S N-1 Deck Jacket KHAKI
The N-1 Deck Jacket has become a staple of the modern man’s winter wardrobe. But N-1 refers not just to a jacket, but to an integrated clothing system designed for protection in cold climates and foul weather.
... The U.S Navy developed three “N” systems. In addition to the cold climate N-1, the N-2 system was designed for rainy conditions and the N-3 system for tropical conditions. Despite these climate divisions, old photographs indicate sailors rarely used these systems according to regulations, opting instead to mix and match to suit their layering need and preferences. Originally designed in the early 1940’s.
The material for the outer shell is durable grosgrain cotton and the lining is a double-faced alpaca. The label 'NXss' shows a jacket was produced before 1944. After 1944, the label changes to 'NXsx' and the colour of the 'jungle cloth' also changes to a khaki colour. The jacket also features 1940's bell-shaped Talon zippers and a Storm Flap Cover. An iconic jacket produced to the highest spec by The Real McCoys
