Tuesday evening at about 830 and still able to get a table without booking. Staff polite and efficient. Food excellent and good pint of real ale. I hadn't been there for about 20 years when it was called The Lucan Arms and was just a pub but will certainly return sooner this time! Highly recommended.

I had a the ribs which was finger licking good, partner had a medium steak which was cooked to perfection (yes I had a little of that)

Its great to see this lovely building re-opened as a top class gastro pub with really nice decor both inside and out. I have been a few times over the past months both for lunch and dinner with both family and business colleagues and have found the atmosphere welcoming and the food and service great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you and your staff for a lovely evening. We had a family meal this evening and our waitress was Holly. Please can you thank her from the bottom of our heart for such a lovely and speedy service. She was extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. My children loved her. She is a really credit to you and I believe she deserves recognition for her outstanding hard work this evening and amazing customer service skills. We will definitely be back soon. Had a great day yesterday at the cider and hogroast event. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and perfect weather which always helps :)

Food is amazing and service is above 5 star. Would definitely recommend and use again and again

First visit as an out of towner but really liked this place. Clean and fresh decor. Feels like it is primarily designed for families and eating but there is an area showing Sky Sports if you want that sort of thing. I had the shared platter which was delicious and there is a variety of drinks on offer. Staff were helpful and friendly and the place had a nice atmosphere. Would recommend.

Food was tasty and hot, colleagues were frendly, and 10 out of 10 for using cardboard straws, well done The Retreat, all restaurants need to follow your exsample! 👏🏻👏🏻

Family meal for six and half people. Our meals were very nice, as usual and staff as always very friendly and accommodating.



This is not a complaint just a request...Just would like to ask the kitchen to think about how the food is served? Our adult meals were all lovely and hot, served on very hot plates, great for adults but not so good for kids? I think some restaurants have a policy not to heat plates for orders made from The Childs Menu? Which is a great idea. Our little ones meal came out after ours and her plate was even hotter than ours. Waitress popped it down in front of our 1 year old saying, that plate is really very hot?... Then as we started to eat she got really frustrated as she had to wait for hers to cool down? So maybe serve kids meals first to a table, to enable the parent to cut it up and cool it down a little before theirs is served and serve kids meals on unheated plates. Just a suggestion, could save a child from a sore burnt mouth or fingers?

Went last night for the second time in 2017 although we're at the end of it as I'm not a sad-act alcoholic! Couldn't help but notice how incredibly (and ridiculously) hot the place was. Like a sauna. Both my friends said the same thing. So had to leave after just two drinks. Also, couldn't help but notice the price of my second drink (a double) was £7.75. Talk about overpriced!! That's minimum wage for an hours work!



Little fact here this place of course used to be 'The Anglers Retreat' and I went there in 2003 all the way from Isleworth for a meal with my then-wife. It used to have huge fish tanks and was very picturesque (not that it doesn't still look very beautiful throughout). For the past 8 years I live around the corner from this pub!!

The pub/restaurant looks very nice, but I was disappointed with the food. I ordered a superfood salad and paid extra for a “Wood fired” Salmon fillet... the salad wasn’t too bad, but the salmon had been poached for a very long time and had no flavour. Not sure what happened to the “Wood fired” part, as it certainly wasn’t that. My partner had the Mac N Cheese, with the optional extra Beef Brisket...well, if there was a teaspoon of brisket we’d have been lucky. Certainly not worth the extra £3.50 we paid. We’ve tried this restaurant twice now and have been disappointed on both occasions, so we won’t go back for food again. Shame really, as it could be very good with some simple changes.

Me and my other half went to the retreat to celebrate my birthday yesterday. Lovely pub but service was slow and we were the only table to wait on food!! I ordered the kalamari for a starter and it was a minusule portion and finished it within 2 bites! Went for the king prawn linguine for mains and got 5 shrimps for 15 pounds!! By this point I couldn't enjoy my birthday. I sent it back with Pierre who checked with the kitchen and I was told that is the way it comes!!!! I ordered something different as wasn't prepared to pay that but had to wait 15 mins as my partner already had his main. Pierre did apologize and offered free coffees but by that point we just wanted to leave and to top it off when my new main arrived and I wanted peppercorn sauce the waitress told us we would be charged a £1!! We didn't want coffees or desserts but when the bill came there was a service charge of £9. Yes £9!!!! I was too deflated to complain by this point so we paid and left. I will never return!! Birthday meal was not a meal I would want to remember!

Very disappointed, went for dinner and decided to take up the offer of free child’s meal before 6pm, wasn’t told that we had to order starter main and dessert at the same time so by the time we went to order my sons dessert it was past 6pm and the manager REFUSED to do it as part of the deal! It’s not in the small print and wasn’t mentioned when ordering! Left after mains, for the sake of complimentary kids dessert they missed out on two adult desserts and a 3 more drinks. Very short sighted and poor customer service.

Terrible food and very poor customer service. Awful management and very rude. Never to return to this pub again. They hate children and big families so wouldn’t recommend wasting your time or money.
