Visited the R S last Friday 13th mob handed had a super night great service not the cheapest prices, but you know you don't have to be prepared for a punch up either, enjoyable banter with the bar staff. Drank for years not far from home, they won't see me or the mob again

This pub is up and coming to be the best pub around blackheath with great staff great atmosphere and great food. Plays great relaxing background music not to loud not to low, then from Thursday threw to Sunday some great live entertainment, don't believe me come and see for yourselves ŌØż’ĖÅ­¤Äē­¤źā­¤ŹĘ­¤źé­¤Ź╗­¤Ź║­¤ŹĖ­¤Ź╣­¤Ź Š

This pub has always had great locals and lots of potential and now it's stepped up a level thanks to Caroline and Mark's hard work and inclusive nature: they're born hosts.

Fantastic music on most nights of the week and a buzzy atmosphere make this a destination spot.

There have been HUGE changes since I visited this place a year ago. The landlord Mark and his wife Caroline have worked wonders! I visited again recently and appreciate how much constant effort and vigilance are required to keep a large place like this vibrant, welcoming and with just the right amount of pŌĆÖzazz for those musical evenings. The staff are friendly and helpful; great music and food.



I spoke to many of the locals (regular patrons); all of whom said how much they liked what had been done.



I particularly liked the fact that as a single female I was comfortable there .. at the bar or in a seat at a table.



Keep up the great work Caroline, Mark and the ŌĆśAŌĆÖ team !

The vibe and atmosphere of this pub has changed completely since it was taken over by the new managers - Mark and Caroline. I had a great time there today. Great music and delicious food. Make sure to pay a visit and you will not be disappointed. It's fabulous. Today was reggae Sunday and the joint was a rockin'!! They also have a quiz night, Live bands and much much more. Something on every night to enjoy.

Staying close by I called in for a pint on my way home. Not disappointed. A good pint and good surroundings. Staff look after the customers well. Wished I had a chance to come here more often.

Nice atmosphere and very friendly manager, had a lovely meal with great service and felt very welcome. Live music was a nice touch and although we didn't stay long to enjoy it, I would definitely consider another night there. ’┐Į

My new local, as of March this year and I'm struggling to drag myself out of it and back to my flat. So lucky to have such a great pub so close by.

Just been for the first time. We had the burger and Sunday roast. Delicious! Friendly and fast service. WeŌĆÖll definitely be coming back!

I've been a local at the standard for the past three years and can confidently say that it's at its best right now. Mark and Caroline have bought a whole new vibe to the place and have made great improvements throughout. . what was once a low key pub with average food has turned into a vibrant friendly pub with a local yet inviting atmosphere.. if you're not familiar with the standard, expect a good choice of beer (Peroni for less than a fiver!?) tasty food, great music and a the friendliest landlords around.. you'll feel like a local by your second pint.

I'm thinking that my little ole local is now on the map, not just on the map but the very top of the map! Caroline, Mark and their beautiful family have brought a spark to The Royal Standard Blackheath and I'm loving it! The vibe is fantastic and they are true landlords who get involved, friendly and really get to know their customer's. They had a community festival on Saturday called Raising the Standard and RAISE the standard they did by bringing the community together. There were fun things for the children and a number of musical talents that were fab but the headliners The Future Shape of Sound were amazing. A day that was intent on a 2 hour afternoon visit to the festival was a 7 hour visit with my neighbours and their children having a really chilled cool Saturday Afternoon/Evening/Night! Great pub and food. I went there a couple of Sundays back and we had a great roast dinner, with some vinyl DJŌĆÖs playing cool tunes. CanŌĆÖt think of a better way of spending a Sunday afternoon. We will return.

Finally a public house with great friendly staff great selection of beverages & First Class Food...... also if you love live music you wonŌĆÖt be disappointed

After some teething troubles, my last few visits to the Royal Standard have been great. Enjoyed trying some snacks from new menu last night (macaroni cheese bites and sliders very nice) and it was warm, cosy and lively, without being too busy.

Called in for lunch on Tuesday. Food we ordered (fish & chips) was not available , they had just sold the last fish, so had to order an alternative. What we received was ok but this is the second time in 3 visits that we have had to order what they had rather than what we wanted to eat so won't bother again.

The RS likes putting up its prices. The RS doesn't like putting on the heating or providing effective wi-fi. But the staff - excluding the manager who no one's ever seen - are all good people.
