User

Would highly recommend the restaurant and for special occasions the private dinning rooms. I booked one of rooms for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. We were very well looked after, the food was excellent, dietry requirements catered for and my toddler had the freedom to get down from the table and wander without disturbing other dinners. We will definitely be returning to do this again. Thanks to all at the Swan.

User

We visited The Swan for my 30th birthday brunch last week with a group of 7 adults plus 5 children. From the moment I telephoned to enquire the staff were so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make this special for me! We had a private dining room even though these are usually, as I understand, for larger groups. When we arrived the table was laid out for us, staff were very polite and friendly and activity packs were set out for the children. Some of our party were late, my daughter spilt orange juice everywhere and it was generally hectic (as expected with 4 children under 5! Despite this, the staff couldn’t have been more relaxed and made us feel completely at ease.

When our food arrived it was delicious, we had a mixture of different things from the menu across our group and all was lovely. In addition they made an amazing peach Bellini! We are new to the area and this was our first visit to The Swan however we will certainly be returning and recommending to our friends! Thanks to all the staff for making my birthday such a lovely occasion spent with family.

The garden is definitely the best I’ve been to this Summer so far it’s beautiful & brunch food plus service was excellent plus they have just opened new Italian Reataurant further down road where Lobster Pot used to be well done xxx

User

Thank you everyone at The Swan for my beautiful Birthday lunch today, everything was amazing, the food and drinks were perfect and the staff couln't have been more helpful and friendly!

Amazing experience from start to finish!

User

Loved the Italian wine tasting dinner with Giuseppe Di Palma. The terraced garden was a beautiful environment to enjoy the food and wonderful selection of wines. We will definitely be coming again. Thank you.

User

Had the most amazing afternoon tea this afternoon for my friends baby shower! Thank you so much, the staff were really helpful and friendly! The food was really nice and nothing was too much trouble

User

Had a lovely lunch today thank you. We celebrated our anniversary and had a lovely lunch. Lunch was amazing and the sharing prawns were the best we’ve ever had. Thank you for the chocolate factory cocktails on the house. All the bar staff are so friendly and make some great new cocktails. Enjoyed the tiramisu martini today!! Along with a lovely gin infused with cucumber mint and bergamot! Can’t wait for Amano to open - thanks again x

User

Fabulous brunch and great service. Wish I’d had the salt beef hash which was to die for. With a lovely Happy birthday dessert plate they definately deserve a five star rating. Always good food in the past but they seemed to have upped their game to another level. Really great cocktail menu too. Highly recommended

User

Continually visit, never disappointed with the quality of food. The menu is amazing for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A great team and the staff are always friendly. Oh and if you like a cocktail Highly recommend!!!

User

As always a beautifully presented & delicious meal served by polite, friendly & professional staff. The Swan never lets us down.

User

Always have great food and drink at The Swan - but this time we hired the terrace and marquee area for my Baby Shower and was an amazing day! The Swan couldn't have done anymore for me, all my guests fully enjoyed the day! thank you xxx

User

I ate here last week, has always been a firm favourite over the years. It has kept its ambience and innovative menu concepts, a well stocked bar and attentive, yet unobtrusive staff. Point off for not taking my Coat and large Umbrella though. However, the braised Ox cheek was superb as was the Bloody Mary

User

We booked lunch on line for 1145 as we were going to the cinem afterwards.

Upon arriving at the restaurant we were sat down and handed a brunch menu, apparently they don’t serve lunch until 1230 despite the on line booking

Staff were appologetic and for some reason moved us to another table. We were given an amuse bouche to fill in time....sadly that was the highlight.

Menu was ok. Ordered the seafood raviolo as a starter with seafood bisque. The pasta was soft on the top but far too hard on its rim. Interesting challenge was eating a bisque with a knife and fork! I had to ask for a spoon.

Main was roast partridge in a far too salty sauce, the texture was fascinating as it was supplemented with feathers! My friend had short rib that was also too salty too.

My dessert was a lovely creme brûlée, but to add a whisky soaked prune base is bizarre in the extreme. Creme brûlée is a very subtle flavour the compote was far too strong!

It was a detour for lunch, was it worth it.....categorically NOT!!

Toilets were clean but freezing cold.

Not a great experience the prices were high the food wasn’t worth the cost. £85 for two is expensive for what we were served.

After 924 trip advisor reviews I had hoped two AA stars would be better.

User

Very disappointed with our meal tonight.

Was a 50th birthday family meal.

They phoned me twice to confirm booking, reminding me of two hour time slot.

Service was very slow... so think the £25 surcharge not acceptable at all.

Felt like no one knew what they were doing.

Had to ask for bread!

Not the lovely treat place it use to be :(

User

Myself and three friends arranged a highly rare meal at the swan, without the wife and kids. We had a table booked for 8:45 and sat down at 08:55, bit late due to waiting for drinks from the bar.

We ordered a lovely bottle of premium wine, luckily we know what we like as the waiter did not have any experience or knowledges with wines or what choice would suit us.

Our starters arrived at the table when two of my friend where outside having a cigarette and by the time they arrived back at the table the food was cold, the cold starters were full of fat and very bland. 10:25 we asked the waitress if our mains were going to be ready soon, answer was 5 min. 10 min later and still no mains we got up and asked for the bill. £160 for starters and vine and not much of an apology, Very disappointed and hungry.

User

Bit of a let down ,really lost its touch with the restaurant feel .They have forgotten how to treat there customers .

We went in for a birthday meal me and my wife and got sat next to a freezing cold door being opened every second and also a kids party getting bumped into shouting screaming ,not that I dong like kids it's just not what we wanted for a night out 😂

User

We visited for my birthday lunch and this used to be a real treat. The staff where scruffy, unhelpful and indifferent. The steak was way below the standard we have had before, the staff forgot drinks we ordered and seemed disinterested when we complained. We ended up getting the bill and having to eat lunch elsewhere. Really disappointed having travelled down to visit from London, not the service the swan once provided!

User

Was seated in the garden, one of the managers turned on some loud lounge music a couple of meters from our table, making it hard to hold a conversation over dinner.

I asked the manager politely if it could be lowered slightly, only to be responded to rudely and agitatedly by him, in response. I am assuming he was under stress due to a wedding function, but given how as a manager you are supposed to lead by example, was left flabbergasted at his attitude and manor he found it acceptable to talk to a customer. Also it became apparent of his attitude the way he was conversing with his staff rudely.

Overall, good food and service, our waitress was amazing, perhaps she needs to give the manager a few tips in customer service. Given this was my first visit here, someone clearly dropped the ball.
