All of us at The Tulip are sad to learn of the passing of well known and much loved, Ben Orwell. Dad of our long standing regular, Terry Orwell. Terry would like all to know that Ben’s funeral will be on Monday 9th April @ 11:30am at Chelmsford Crematorium, South Chapel. Family flowers only please. This will shortly be followed by a wake at the Tulip.

Georgina had asked that instead of gifts being bought for her, a donation be made to KOALA.

we had our daughters 21st here on Saturday night ,the staff were amazing,nothing was to much bother .we would highly recommend in a hart beat.Lynette and Martyn are wonderfull host,Lynette is just amazing ,she pick up all my food and decorated the pub for me (it look amazing) ,made sure the food was topped up ,you couldn't ask for anything better.So i would just like to say the biggest thanks to both of them.you helped make our daughters 21st amazing ....xxxx

Well what can I say?

Martin king and Lynette king of the Tulip public house.

We go back a long way ( knowing your beloved son Ross first as a boy ) who has now grown into an incredible strong kind caring young man, who was very much involved in our family, also having known my mum n dad, his sense of humour is second to none, and made us all laugh including my parents.

You must be so proud of him.

Steve Cheryl and I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for both mums wake and dads wake at your pub, not only was it warm hospitable and friendly Martin & Lynette organised and put on a super spread of food for all our guests.

I would truly recommend the Tulip pub to anybody, Martin and Lynette are friendly out going landlord and landlady, this is what makes the Tulip pub thrive, having done a marvellous job renovating/ decorating inside and outside too, is a great place to celebrate all types of venues, or just to pop in and have a drink.

I give it 10 stars but it only goes up to five.

We used The Tulip for our sons christening and they couldn't have been more helpful! Fantastic food, venue and went out of their way to make sure we were happy and it all went smoothly! All we had to do was provide the decorations & pay for the food, the rest was all taken care of! Thank you so much for all your help, we will definitely use you again!!! Sarah x

We used The Tulip after my sons christening at the weekend to celebrate with food and drinks. The owners were SO accommodating and allowed us to bring food and store it for us earlier in the day, and also decorated the section for us. This saved us so much time and stress; the place looked AMAZING!



Throughout the day I was asked if everything was ok and if there was anything else that they could help with which I thought was very professional and friendly. Our families commented on how lovely of a pub it is and thoroughly enjoyed the outside area and selection of tasty gins!



Would recommend The Tulip if you are thinking of somewhere to host a party or celebration. There is also a large car park which was perfect for us as we had a lot of people traveling.

We held my dads wake at the tulip on Friday. This is my dads favourite pub. The Buffett that Martyn and Lynnette put on was outstanding. Hot and cold food and such a choice. One of my friends is a chef in London and he even commented how wonderful the food was. Everyone had such a wonderful time at what was such a sad day. I would definitely recommend the tulip for any occasion. Thank you again xxx

We arrived and the pub was set out just how we wanted and everyone could sit down and reminisce about good memories together without a worry! Thank you to Martyn and Lynette.....5 stars from. Today I had my nans wake down the tulip. What was a very sad day turned into a day of memories with family and friends. Martyn Lynette and the bar staff couldn't do enough to make sure the day went smoothly. When we arrived the buffet provided was layed out and everyone was able to sit down and enjoy what was a very sad day. The effort that went into the occasion didn't go unnoticed.

One if the best pubs in Chelmsford, the beer garden is perfect on a warm summer's day. Had a fab day yesterday with new friends and we will be returning soon!

Just held my Mothers wake at The Tulip pub , Martyn ,Lynette and staff couldn’t have been more helpful and obliging, even supplying a candle and lovely vase of flowers to accompany her photograph. We choose to have a favourite dish of my Mothers (Haddock and chips ) for 21 people , the food was gorgeous, all cooked fresh and presented lovely, everyone commented on how good it was . I would just like to say a very big thank you to everyone at the tulip pub for making this sad day very special.

I recently had my 30th birthday party at the Tulip, we was really well looked after, Martyn and Lynette and their team arranged everything, they setup all the banners and balloons help me choose the food and they collected it, they also arranged the DJ all I had to do was turn up and hope my friends and family did too. Definitely would recommend and would use them again for all occasions.

I had my husbands surprise 30th party at the Tulip,I can honestly recommend this venue so highly. From the minute I booked to right up to the end of the party the team at the Tulip were out of this world there wasn't anything they wouldn't do for us.From organising the Dj who everybody loved to setting up the area for me with the decorations I sent in and to laying out all the food.The place looked amazing and as anyone knows setting up for a party is hard enough let alone a surprise, so the fact the Tulip did this for us was such a big help. Right down to the finer details of helping me pull off the surprise when I got to the pub Martyn and his team had this covered and without them I couldn't of made it all happen.So don't be in doubt you need to book the Tulip for any party or event you are having. I booked The Tulip for my 40th Birthday Party which was held last night.



The party was held in the sports bar which and it held 90 of my family and friends plus a live band.



Martyn and the staff at the Tulip couldn’t do enough for us and nothing was a problem. I arranged my own food (but The Tulip offer to do this for you if you want it) and decorations which I handed over to them in bags on Sat morning. When it was time for the party, the room was transformed and the food was nicely presented. They even went the extra mile and put out their own pretty fairy light jars (which I had tried to create myself that morning without success) to create a warm, inviting party room.



They didn’t run out of prosecco or gin (my friends were loving the large bubble glasses) and they also cleared up at the end which wouldn’t have happened if I’d booked a hall for my party.



I would definitely recommend The Tulip for a Party. � Thank you all so much xxx

Had my 21st birthday party held at the Tulip on Saturday 17th, everyone was very helpful towards my boyfriend regarding arrangements! All my family and friends commented on how friendly the bar staff were and they honestly couldn’t do anymore for you, my mum dropped off the food and balloons and everything was set out beautifully ready for everyone to arrive. I would honestly recommend the Tulip to absolutely anyone and everyone for any event and I’m sure our family will be heading straight to the Tulip very soon for another celebration. I had my daughters surprise 21st here tonight and it was amazing, Martin and the team delivered, they put all the decorations up and ordered our buffet food and set it all out, all we had to do was turn up. Thank you to all the staff at The Tulip, my daughter her friends and family had a great night. Can’t thank you all enough.

I can not recommend The Tulip highly enough!

I booked The Tulip for my 40th Birthday Party which was held last night.



The party was held in the sports bar which and it held 90 of my family and friends plus a live band.



Martyn and the staff at the Tulip couldn’t do enough for us and nothing was a problem. I arranged my own food (but The Tulip offer to do this for you if you want it) and decorations which I handed over to them in bags on Sat morning. When it was time for the party, the room was transformed and the food was nicely presented. They even went the extra mile and put out their own pretty fairy light jars (which I had tried to create myself that morning without success) to create a warm, inviting party room.



They didn’t run out of prosecco or gin (my friends were loving the large bubble glasses) and they also cleared up at the end which wouldn’t have happened if I’d booked a hall for my party.

Had my 21st birthday party held at the Tulip on Saturday 17th, everyone was very helpful towards my boyfriend regarding arrangements! All my family and friends commented on how friendly the bar staff were and they honestly couldn’t do anymore for you, my mum dropped off the food and balloons and everything was set out beautifully ready for everyone to arrive. I would honestly recommend the Tulip to absolutely anyone and everyone for any event and I’m sure our family will be heading straight to the Tulip very soon for another celebration. Booked the Tulip for my sons christening after party! Martin and Lynette couldn’t do enough to help us! So helpful and friendly and made all our guests feel very welcome ! Helped decorate and sort the food etc ! Would definitely recommend this venue to host any type of gathering! Thank you to The Tulip for arranging such a special event for us!
