The Watermill Beefeater

We were staying in the Premiere Inn next door and decided we would eat close to the hotel. Given my previous experiences of beefeater restaurants, my expectations were set particularly low - oh how I was wrong!



The food this evening was superb and the staff were great!



Highly recommend the BBQ ribs AND the frozen strawberry yoghurt!



If I'm ever back in Basildon on business, I will be returning :)

We had a fantastic meal here on Sunday. There was so much food and despite there being 25 of us, the food was very hot and good portion sized. The only downside was, that there was only one person behind the bar and they really needed more then that.

We had a fantastic afternoon meal today, recently new manager Lynette was lovely & our server Svetla couldn't welcome us more! Very child friendly, plus a great place to dine or have buffet breakfast. Definitely be back very soon xx

A nice date night for me and my partner the food was amazing and the staff were lovely x

We were a large party, so had a bit of a wait between courses... food not to bad apart from some of the steaks not being cooked as per requests.... did complain and to be fair did take one steak off if the bill... waitress was very helpful and the service wasn't to bad...

My partner and I were staying in the premier inn across from here and we didn't have a meal but did go for drinks. Good variety of wine (I had rose) and there are 2 taps for draught cider and bottled choice. Some lovely seating where you can tuck yourself away or immerse yourself closer to the bar.

Have been here for the weekend, staying at the premier inn. I must say both evenings we have eaten here and I cannot fault the service or the food or the hospitality, Amy W. Both evenings looked after us and nothing was to much trouble for her, Saturday evening she was rushed off her feet but was also very attentive to all customers

Hadn't been to the Watermill or a Beefeater for years. So when the 40% off main meals vouchers came through the door, we said we'd try it. We had good service & the food was hot & we ate it all! The dessert I ordered wasn't available but what i chose instead was lovely. My partner ordered a second beer, which never came but we weren't charged, so not an issue as we had finished anyway. We will go back & take friends next time.

Had dinner & breakfast here last night/this morning.

Seated on upper level both times, had to request a move to easier level for one of our group with some walking impediment... easily changed. All staff friendly & helpful.

Dinner- portion sizes perfect- not massive which makes a change! Food quality very good.

Toilets clean, good service all round.

Only marked down as no flapjack tray bake at breakfast 😭8 year old daughter's favourite...

Otherwise very nice breakfast as ever. 😀

Walk in nobody behind the bar so stand and wait for 10 minutes then what seemed to be the cleaner came behind the bar to serve when asked about food she explained she had better go see what they haven’t got 1st which at 12:00 is pretty bad

Pub not really ready to open or serve food

Gone downhill in my opinion

Won’t be back anytime soon!!!

There were 8 of us that came here last night for my birthday, table was booked for 6pm.

By 6.30pm we were seated which was fine, a waitress came to take our orders, We we told they had run out of.. starters - breaded mushrooms/ potato skins - then for mains - lamb rump/ duo of beef/sirloin steak (only steak available was fillet or rump - the most expensive) - had run out of all of the above.

At 6.30pm ???? Which was reasonably early, I thought that was pretty disgusting..

When we went to order desserts 85% of what was on the menu wasn't available either..so nobody had anything.

It didn't seem to be overly busy for a Sunday night.

So it's safe to say I won't returning any time soon.

What a disgrace this is to the Beefeater group.. I stood 23 minutes at the bar to get served. When finally got serve, there was a bit of an attitude from the staff. I went to use the gents toilets and at 10.50 am they stunk. The floors were so dirty my shoes we're sticking to the floor. To say I am totally disgusted is a minor statement. Would I recommend. Certainly Not

Thank you Watermill Basildon for the s*#% service this morning. When a customer asks for their breakfast to come out the way they've requested, you do it (you've had no issue previously). I don't expect the waitress to moan & then watch the chef stand there & bitch for 5 min whilst eyeballing me. Then plate up & leave it on the side for 15 mins to get cold. Only to come out not how you've asked (with no explanation) & of course cold. Oh & your scrambled eggs looked as though someone had already eaten them & thrown back up on the plate. You wonder why we sent it back and had the audacity to sill charge £14 for drinks & 3 pancakes!!

Terrible food. Chef don’t understand how to cook a steak or the difference between medium or well done. Waited hour and half for food and staff kept telling us that it was being plated. Waitress had terrible attitude, obviously under immense pressure due to the poor quality in food and the amount of complaints going round the restaurant. I ordered steak and it supposedly comes with a “side salad” see comments for the picture, I was given half a lettuce. Really really bad quality. The food was on par with a cafe. We will never return.

Never had a bad experience here before. Although the food was good it took us 3 hrs to get just a starter and our main. Ran out of everything we had ordered and as long as a dessert didn't include ice cream you were fine !

Table service was poor . will only return if a last resort.

I came for lunch today with a friend. I was served a mouldy ciabatta roll which I then swapped for a well done steak that was served rare . Absolutely disgusting service and food. I will not be returning.

Drinks took 25 mins to come to us even though there was no one else really in the restaurent at the time. Beer came out warm. Told female manager who did not acknowledge it and didn't offer to change it. Food was sat on counter for 15 mins and staff were standing around doing nothing. Male manager apologised but it ruined Father's Day as both mine and my dads food came out cold. Awful experience and won't be going back

Came here for the third or forth time today and I’m sorry but won’t be visiting again. Will find somewhere else for work lunch with the girls. Food looked anaemic, no spring onions as advertised on menu in potatoes, left waiting with meal for veg, eaten it by time veg was done, forgot one persons meal that came out so late. Manager seemed defensive when we complained. Refunded for two lunches but it ruined it. Will go elsewhere next time.

Came 26th may 2017 as it was the son birthday so few of us came.

All got food then husband was eating his to find a dirty fly in his chicken that had been cooked in with it.

Spoke to waitress asked if he wanted another or she refund his meal.

What a joke we were all put of after seeing this in his food made me feel ill.

Never again will I go here.

And we were out for my sons birthday.
