LAST DAY FOR WILTON
WAY CAFE SAT 25 AUG
To all of our dear customers
... It is with a heavy heart that we have announced the Wilton Way Cafe will be closing this week. Our staff have been aware of the coming change for a while and it is time for a new direction for the cafe and a new location for London Fields Radio ( watch www.londonfieldsradio.org for the latest and we think exciting updates ). It’s time to say farewell.
We are extremely grateful first and foremost to our amazing staff , to the Wilton Way community , to all our featured artists and curators , and to our dedicated brethren of radio producers and to all of our loyal regular customers many of which have become close friends. We truly wished the WWC could have lived forever . It’s hard to believe it’s been close to 8 years.
We trust that what follows in our footsteps will take the place to the next level and continue to bring a great community experience to this location . Although not totally finalised our belief is the new prospective tenant will receive your positive response .
We hope to see you all out and about . Take care for now and we are sure our paths will cross again soon .
All the best
David, Dom , Dara
and our many lovely staff past and present

'The Flesh of All Things' is Hannah’s second solo exhibition at Wilton Way Cafe. Exploring through collage a more surreal landscape of the human psyche and its relationship to increasing synthetic and dwindling natural worlds.

RUBBING
In this exhibition the artists have worked together to produce a series of collaborative drawings and collages titled Rubbing.
Nicholas Bastin is an Australian artist/craftsperson, specialising in creating the miniature scale object.
... Caroline Price is a London based artist [and part of the artist collective Hotham Street Ladies] who hasn’t done much drawing for a while. When good friend Nick suggested the project she got excited.
Caroline explores drawing and collage in an energetic reactionary way awaiting impulses and rhythms to guide further mark marking. Devouring imagery, she edits and re-edits, chopping up, re-examining, building layers employing a pace to guide her back a gestural freedom. She also enjoys a long term love affair with the photocopier.
Nicholas Bastin explores museums, investigating how historical artefacts can evoke a longing to a past that is an ultimately a fantasy. He juxtaposes this with his observations of figures and objects found in the real, present world, to make works that illustrate potential new mythological narratives found in the everyday.
Both artists use drawing primarily as a process of instigation, planning and envisioning, but in this exhibition they explore drawing as a singular expression, and investigate the collaborative possibilities of the medium.

Hackney based artist and illustrator Ed Leeds creates black and white ink drawings ranging from character profiles to wildlife. Fond of creating unusual or comical scenes and juxtaposition, from a Chameleon just trying to be noticed to sailors tempted in by a fabulous Mer-manatee.
His illustrations sometimes reflect characters I has seen in town, going about their lives or he will play nonsense with nature and or human scenarios. Contrasting things like grace and or supposed campness with assumed masculine activities such as having a pint all the while aiming to create something very pleasing to the eye.

Not many people know this but Larry is actually short for Larold and not Laurence. He’s our own little #beastfromtheeastoflondon

Hello Hackney!
One of our baristas is directing a very ambitious, independent short film in two weeks and needs all the help possible.
The film is a modern noir presenting the mysterious disappearance of a young girl when hunting with her uncle.

Adi's work comes from a variety of starting points, both through commisions and personal projects. She... exhibits and sells her prints and drawings at various print and illustration fairs and other London venues. Adi has also produced a number of artists books and zines using her own texts. Great coffee, great munch, great tunes great staff.

User

Very good coffee and friendly staff. Good atmosphere.

User

Relaxed atmosphere good decor and friendly staff. Coffee was excellent but pricey at 2.50 but this was calmed by having a quick mix on a set of 1210s. Ah, the sweet smell of vinyl.

Overall - A neat little coffee shop with all the whistles and bells. Just what the doctor ordered.

Would revisit next time in Hackney London.
