We came to JBSki in the cold depths of November after seeing a post asking for complete wakeboard novices. My plan was to learn to wakeboard allowing me to cross over to kitewake freestyle riding.

It was very cold CK Koester and his students welcomed us to the cable 2.0 system. Within half an hour I was up and riding up and down. It was like someone had turned an addiction on. Riding on a light board over water is probably one of the most amazing experiences you will ever have.

Back in the shop afterwards we spoke to reception and arranged to come back next wednesday to their afternoon session.

We duly turned up watched the obligatory video got changed and went round to the dock. Waiting to greet us were the cable operators Matt Stevens and Ben Hounslow. It is important that you make yourself known to these guys and to be honest, everyone else. JBSki is a very family oriented venue and people here are only too happy to help if you ask for there advice.

Upon questioning they explained the layout of the full cable system and what you needed to do to get up and around. For the beginner this is where the easy bit ends. Getting off the dock in the water is hard, getting yourself round the corners is harder. Without their advice and support you will struggle. Even with their help this is not a sport you can 'have a go at' and be instantly up and riding like a pro. It takes hours of practice quite a lot of getting wet and frustration but... when it all clicks in to place, well i will leave that for you to find out.

That week i brought a wakeboard set up and since then only frozen water and injury (yes this will happen at some point get over it) has stopped me from being out on the water.

The list of wakestars here grows each year and you can watch all your favourite top riders on there home water. Private tuition is available from Ben Hounslow and Matt Stevens for riders looking to put an edge to their riding skills. This i cannot recommend this highly enough, without their help and coaching I would still be struggling.

Watched my friends sons wake boarding today and they had a great time on the lake. Afterwards we ate at The Cheeky Badger cafe at the lake and we all thought the food was fantastic. I noticed the queue was deep all day but was amazed how fast our food came up and how polite and friendly the staff were, even though they were rushed off their feet. I had the hunters chicken wrap which was delicious! Well done to the Cheeky Badgers, you made a good day great!! #5StarFood

This place is fantastic. The two hour kids club is great value for money and was enough to get my children from complete beginners to having confidence in the basics of knee boarding and wake boarding. They loved it. Friendly helpful staff and a cool vibe to the place. If we lived nearer we would be regular visitors.

User

Such a great place to wakeboard, the staff are super friendly and always welcoming. I started last summer here and have become totally addicted and joined as a full time member. I've had quite a few lessons and the instructors have been excellent and they all love working here. 👍

User

My 15 year old son and his mates have been a few times now and really do have the best time, the activity is well supervised by lifeguards and safety seems to be taken very seriously.

we will continue to visit during the next few months i am sure, sun shine or not..

A big thumbs up from us all .

User

JB Ski is the best! Ladies morning has been fantastic, with huge amounts of encouragement and support from the staff as well as the other boarders. I couldn't recommend it more highly- a fantastic place to visit over and over!

User

I really can't thank the JBSki events team enough for putting on such a great party for Richards birthday. You took all the hassle out of organising the event, everything ran smoothly, the food was great and the staff friendly and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue for anyone looking to put on a party that people will remember!

User

I love this place, great atmosphere, amazing food, entertainment and free parking. After many visits I can highly recommend it as a safe and affordable day out.

The festival this year was amazing. Saturday night was spectacular and Sunday was great for the younger and older family members, lovely little beach for the children, bouncy castle and free face painting. The tribute band first class.

The staff are always so willing to help and advise and have a smile and welcome for all. I look forward to my next visit and wish ye continued success for the future.

An Oasis of family friendly, expertly assisted, fun for all levels. My son has gone from novice to amazing in what feels like no time. It's now his favourite thing to do.

User

Great place. Always have a good time. Friendly staff. They just ran out of boards this time so had to wait about an hour other than that good.

User

We paid £50 each for a fast track beginners session. Reception didn't reflect confidence in knowing what we were doing or what time we booked. No structure really. We then waited for the video session to be available, got changed and then loosely where pointed to walk along the cable track until we reach the single straight track. We weren't sure if we went the right way at first. Once we arrived we overheard radio chat that we should have already left the intro lesson by now. But how, if we had to wait for the video session? We both did brief back and fourth as well as leaning tasks. No lesson on corners. We then were sent straight to the big cable track. We had loads of unanswered question we then tried to get solved with the staff operating the cable track who said "you are overthinking it". Sadly we never managed a corner as we had absolutely no idea how to tackle it but after several face plants we will still return and try the right foot instead of left! Practise makes perfect. This place has great potential, but we felt abandoned. No one looked after us beginners. A instructor should be located in the first corner to help and yell out what we should improve. Also what if I pass out face planting over there? No one would be around to help quickly. Showers.... Blocked and quite small for amount of bookings.

User

Staff seemed a bit stand offish, and made me feel a bit silly to ask questions. The aquapark was fantastic and we got great safety advice before going on, but then went on the ringos and had no idea what to expect, or how to flag down the driver of the boat if a child was struggling (which turned out they were), and now I'm left feeling like I have whiplash! Would go again but will ask more questions!

User

Kids had a great hour doing knee boarding. Unfortunately one had a head bang & staff were kind, caring & very helpful.

My only feed back is the guy on the rope release was miserable, unfriendly & not encouraging to my children who needed advice, support & praise..... thankfully a Dad was there to step in & offer top tips to my four. Personality is key in that role 🙁

User

Amazing venue and setup, really enjoyed the wakeboarding! However the staff were very unhelpful and unwilling to assist with a simply query; felt like talking to college students in a boring lecture. Also it didn't feel like anyone were monitoring the amount of customers booked to use the cable at anytime so the queues were very long; felt like I were spending most of the time waiting in line than on the water. And no refund option due to the queues is just damn right unacceptable, try to remember your running a business to get people on the water and keep customers wanting to come back, not take their money and care less how their feel. Not sure I would want to come back after today's visit.

User

Went wake boarding on the lake off the ski boat, really enjoyed that!

However after taking a video of the cable park to show my young family, I had a girl from JBski ask me what I was videoing, as there are children around.

Really welcoming of you guys, I'm disgusted!!!

User

There is no friendly staff they all think they are better than you. The lack of service is shocking and I will never ever recommend JBSki to any one and on the contrary I will rather send my friends and family elsewhere.

User

The front desk is rude and have no customer service skills and stand up for eachother instead of owning up to a mistake. This place is unorganised and prices are ridiculous..sure won't see me or anybody I know again!

User

I was so excited and determined to paddle board. Our first experience with the staff was rude, unfriendly and felt like they had no idea what was going on. Was told that they do not run SUP. Then after confirming the girl we spoke to said we could do it. After paying and getting my torn wet suit. I replaced it. We were waiting for a life guard. No one ever turned up. I had to call and ask for help. We asked for a refund and my friends and I were treated so rudely when we complained about the service and the bent truth. Horrible place. Will never go back and never recommend. All I wanted was to do SUP. I would not usually complain but it's expensive and we were treated like outcasts. Hope the staff can learn some customer service skills. Even if they hate their job. Being kind and friendly and helpful costs nothing.
