Feelings? I’m sure here in the UK hitting a police animal has legal ramifications the same as assault on a police officer. Totally justified response by the officer in my mind

Fantastic photo of my great uncle Billy Miller back in the Rhondda valley. Looks more like a photo from a western!

Just started writing up my thesis on copper nails and bacterial/fungal growth within the hoof wall. Having spent the last 6 weeks watching bacterial colonies grow around/over/under/on top of various nails. Trying to pick them apart and document them is strenuous!

This is a horse who’s been on my account now for some months. He came to me with a slight medial wall crack that we decided to X-ray before doing to much to it. As you can see the medial lateral balance has not been correct, resulting in him landing outside first and slamming the inside branch of the shoe down, being a Spanish breed he has upright feet, this conformation type does not facilitate in the expansion at the quarters so the only thing he wall could do was crack.
...Together, myself and the vets formulated a plan to “float” the inside heel (squashing the shoe flat so it doesn’t sit on the wall) , this should alleviate the concussive shock up that particular part of the wall. We also did a gentle debride of the wall, and treating with a topical solution. We have plans in place of this is not a sufficient approach, some horses respond well to simple treatments, others not so well. But keeping things simply allowed us to approach it practically whilst keeping the horse in full work. Hopefully over the next few shoeings we should see some positive growth at the coronary band.

Loving the finish on Edds feet. I wish I had taken some “before” photos. Edds also shod cold.

Laminitis and side bone in Balloo. Having only trimmed him a week or 2 before the X-rays were taken I was amazed how quick his laminitis came on. Hopefully now following X-rays to help me see where to realign the hoof wall and pedalbone. A shoe set under the toe we will come right and be able to continue his retirement!
