About Toby Carvery

Here at Toby Carvery Bexley Heath, we believe there's only one way to do our beloved British roast – and that's properly.

Toby Carvery Description

When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Kent's favourite carvery restaurant.

We visited yesterday at about 1.30pm. We hadn't booked but were quickly shown to a table.

The waitresses were very helpful. I was trying to download a Toby app which offered Mums a free glass of wine. I was struggling and the waitress helped by doing it on her phone and then advised which was a nice wine. We had not visited for years so she helpfully ran through the carvery process and refillable drinks etc. We really enjoyed the carvery, the choice is amazing and then our ice cream honeycomb pudding was gorgeous, the ice cream was so creamy and covered with delicious sauce and more. All this and our bill was barely £20.00. Thank you Toby carvery, we'll definitely be returning!

User

Attended yesterday afternoon with a few friends to celebrate my 40th Birthday. Service was good and cannot fault the food, absolutely gorgeous with a fantastic variety on offer with the Carvery. I have visited several times. Good value for money and my kids love it.

User

Nice food, great value. Friendly staff as well. The only is depending where you’re seated, you can smell the toilets which can be a bit off putting, but that’s been like it for years!

So I booked a table for 2 on the Toby Carvery App for Valentine’s Day to arrive on time at 7pm to be told there is a half hour wait for tables, a elderly couple in front of me that were all dressed up for dinner were told there would be a 3-4 hour wait, the pub would be closed by then, what a silly thing for the young man on the reception to say, and also disrespectful to people in their 80’s

Surely if you book a table then receive a text reminder a hour before they should honour the booking, the bar was full up with others that had booked and being told to wait in the bar.

When I walked around to the restaurant to see how busy it was there were plenty of tables that weren’t taken so I took a seat and carried on with my 7pm booking as I couldn’t wait for half an hour to be seated as I had booked cinema tickets for 20.30 and would have missed the film

I left your buzzer thing on your bar

The food was of a good quality and hot, however the tiled floor was covered in food debris and a slip hazard, the area where the gravy and condiments is was covered in gravy etc...

The lady that looked after us in the restaurant was friendly and good at her job and looked after all of her customers very well

There was no manager to be seen during the time I spent in the restaurant, I would expect a manager to take charge and direct his staff on a busy night to make things run better

The Gents toilets are a disgrace with a big square hole cut out of the plasterboard in the wall and a toilet roll stuffed in the void space and there was a dirty nappy left by the wash basins, there is no way that this area had been checked by staff whilst I was there

The management need to take a close look at this business and how poorly it is being operated

User

Not been to this place for a good few years, so thought I'd take my mum as was visiting... Well needs a good update and a clean, tables left uncleared, waited for 5 mins to be served so not too bad.. not good presentation thought they would have picked up food/Gravy that had been dropped on floor.. Or even just stirred the food up a bit as left under lights.. Could be a good few years before I go back.... Come on toby carvery update bring if back to its former glory....

User

Hit the Q just in time to miss the crowd that came just behind us. Food on carvery was good . Much the same as last time . Good value for money but a bit scruffy .

User

Had a table for 6 booked but had to wait ages to be seated. The drink order took ages to be taken. The queue for food was the longest I have ever seen and took half an hour to get to the counter. Food was great as usual. Elaine our waitress looked like she had run a marathon and was working her socks off. You really need more staff on busy night's.

User

Came here for my brother’s birthday, we had a lovely waitress. Not really a fan of carveries, prefer to have my meal brought to the table, but the food was nice and hot. If I chose to go to a carvery again it would be this one

User

Busy Sunday afternoon. Had reserved and was seated straight away. Was some

Confusion as to who was waitressing as we got served by two different ones whilst there. Food was good although the gravy was very watery but apart from that was nice meal.

User

Worse visit ever. Gammo was full of fat

.and the plate was literally thrown at my daughter. My jam and coconut sponge was cold dreadful experience

User

Visited last night for my daughters 18th birthday meal. There was meant to be four different meats. My daughter likes Pork but apparently this was all gone and no more available. It was not late in the evening so whoever does the stock is not doing a very good job my daughter was so disappointed. The giant round yorkshire puddings were what i can only describe as flattened square things. We found an ant crawling over my grand daughters food. I mentioned all this to a lovely young man behind the bar so polite he recommended I speak to the Manager. This I did only to find her attitude so arrogant rude and extremely unhelpful. I think she said her name was Clare. I informed her I'd be contacting her superiors maybe I'll get more sense out of them. Hi Clare

User

Toilets were grim, Menu was covered in spillages, feet get kept getting caught in the trailing wire for the heater under our table and served by the worlds most miserable waitress. On the plus side the carvery was nice and service efficient but bordering on rude.

Toby you need to stop thanking everyone for their negative reviews and actually start to take notice of what people are saying and do something about it!!

User

There was food on the floor. Waited ages for someone to cut the meat. The veg and potatoes were luke warm. The waitress service was ok. On the whole, standard's was poor. Live close by and may not come back!!

User

Ordered for delivery via just eat, portions were absolutely pitiful, 10.49 for barely enough to feed a kid, gravy all leaked as lids were wrong for pots. 4 meats obviously carefully cut by a skilled model maker as ability to cut such minuscule amounts of meat must be a real art. 2 tiny roast potatoes, splodge of mash and then mountain of peas and what seemed like a whole cauliflower.

Clearly they are using the Takeaway to just get rid of scraps and surplus veg rather than supplying a proper roast.

What there was tasted fine, but £10.49 for a 90 mins wait for delivery and a portion that left you hungry afterwards is hardly 'home of the roast' more of a scraps saved from the bin.

User

If I could have put no stars I would have, I feel as though even 1 is too much!!

Today I was Toby carvery in Bexleyheath with my two sisters, mum, son, daughter and neice (the children, who are all under the age of 4). As we were eating our food we noticed another group arriving next to us (two men and two women). From the start there was clearly an issue as straight away we was getting

Horrible looks and remarks from the new group about the children. The new people then called over the waitress, not sure what was said but clearly something to do with Us as there was a lot of pointing and turning around to look at us. We ignored this and as the children were being normal children (making mild noise and sounds) we didn’t think there was an issue. The waitress soon came over to us and said “I’ll take the plates now” my daughter was still eating as was I so we kindly said no thank you we’re still eating. Huffing and puffing she walked away. another 20 mins passed and the dirty looks continued. We ordered the children and my mother desert and before we had got halfway through the waitress gave us the bill. It was quite clear we wasn’t welcome. My Neice then banged her head on the table quite hard which resulted in her screaming and holding her breath, she’s one years old so there was a panic and lots of fuss around her. With this we have looked up to see the man who was with the group staring and shaking his head. I said to him “can you please stop staring at us she’s just hit her head have some compassion if you don’t want to sit near us then you can move just stop staring it’s making us feel uncomfortable” the man then slammed his knife and forks down on the table and shouted at me and said “shut your fucking mouth before I come over there and knock you out” my entire family (all women) stood to their feet with anger and shouted at him telling him how vile he was being. With that the waitress and other staff came over and then told us to leave and pay our bill as we were aggravating him! Still, 7 hours later I am shocked at what happened and how the staff had dealt with him. They made us feel as though we were in the wrong and told us to leave. My daughter was still eating her desert. Never again will I step foot inside this restaurant!!!! And I will be taking it further with the companies management I feel so let down and it just makes me wonder what would have happened if this vile excuse for a man actually came over to me and hit me! I had no confidence in the staff there to help the situation at all they only wanted us to leave. I wouldn’t advice anyone with children to go to this site what so ever as I have left today feeling very vulnerable, imagine how the children felt.

User

Horrible place. Rude staff and infested with flies.

Lots of really decent places nearby.

Had breakfast with Santa the food was vile I have never had such a vile breakfast in my life. The sausages were not even sausages in sloppy pieces, the potatoes were smothered in pepper, slimey eggs and much more. My children ended up with a slice of toast each won't be going back. I can not fault the Santa he was brilliant

User

Be aware you can’t just turn up for a Sunday roast like you used to... or still can at Snaresbrook. You have to book a table way in advance.
