Tropical Yard Description
A new bi-monthly residency for one of the most musically colourful nights in London. DJs Lady Kamikaze (Lady Luck), Liam Large (Jazzman Records) and Duncan Brooker (Strut Records) play a broad and unique spectrum of deep and percussive dancefloor-orientated sounds from Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa - taking in Cumbia to Mambo and Descarga, Calypso to Ska and Rocksteady, High Life to Rumba and more besides.
Lady Kamikaze has a long pedigree of DJing and promoting around London, having been a key organiser of the legendary Lady Luck club. She founded Tropical Yard as an opportunity to explore and focus on the more exotic sounds of the vintage scene. Together with Liam Large, the compiler of the influential Jukebox Mambo and Jukebox Jam compilations for Jazzman Records, and pioneering African music collector, DJ, archivist and compiler Duncan Brooker, expect a wide and expertly chosen selection of music that you just won't hear anywhere else.
