Turning Earth Description

Turning Earth has two studios - the original one in Hoxton E2, and the newly opened complex in Argall Avenue E10. Each offers state of the art wheels, regular kiln firings and great equipment, all in a beautiful environment.

Members pay a monthly fee of between £150 and £195 a month (depending on length of contract and how much you can pay upfront). This includes glazing, firing and storage.

Our members studios welcome everyone, from beginners to part-time professionals.

Full-time professionals can join In Production, our incubator for small businesses around the corner from our E10 centre.

The London Art Fair is back in Islington this weekend.
Our teacher Bisila Lacht and Tom Kemp, one of the most famous of our alumni are exhibiting this weekend with Highgate's beautiful Thrown gallery.
It's an inspiring weekend of art, talks, and demonstrations by some of the UK's most talented contemporary artists.

Turning Earth is a proud member of East End Trades Guild - advocating for the interests of independent businesses in London. An extremely effective campaigning organisation and one every independent business should join. Collectively, small business has more economic impact than the corporate sector and yet we’re so busy getting on with things our interests easily get toppled. Collectivisation is the solution. We are proud to be part of a movement recognised by Big Issue magazine for its effectiveness.

Some highlights from yesterday's market. Continuing today for the last event of the season from 12 until 6pm in Argall Avenue, near Lea Bridge Station.
Join us from ceramics from old favourites alongside new Turning Earth artists, music from members of The Turbans as well as Davey Green's new band Beagle 3. We also have mulled wine and mince pies to keep everyone in the festive spirit.
Downstairs there are open studios from neighbouring Uncommon Projects Ltd, think FOUND and ...@a.white workshop - have a look around and see what you can commission bespoke from interesting East London designers.
Food is from Lighthaus, the on-site cafe, as well as from Pavilion Bakery, opening the doors today selling Sri Lankan dhal, bread and pastries - with all money donated going to our nominated charity Hackney Migrant Centre.
***If you bring in your bubble wrap we will reuse it***
Our kilns are fired using renewable energy, for truly ethical Christmas gifts.

We're often asked when we're coming to North West London. Answer is that we're working on it...
For now, you can see 13 of our makers at this event in Finchley coming up tomorrow. What better thing to do for #smallbusinesssaturday?
Hold tight for the next Turning Earth Winter Market next weekend 8/9 December at our Lea Bridge branch

Some highlights from the Hoxton Winter Market

"Advice for young city dwellers.
In this period of the end of the world, how do we sow the seeds of a new one?
First: every young person should recognise that working with their hands - and their hearts and their minds interconnected - is the highest evolution of our species.
... Working with our hands is not a degradation. It’s our real humanity.
Start a garden. Create a playground in the way you grow food. Save seeds.
Cook. It was treated as a backwards activity that your mother cooked, and was treated as not work, but she is the reason you are sustained. Start cooking classes. Get grandmothers to teach you how to cook.
Create communities.
We are not atomized producers and consumers, we are part of the earth family. We are part of a human family."

Thanks to everyone that came out to our Winter Market today. It’s really been an incredible day - just so many beautiful things made from ceramics and all in one place - I think we were all utterly spoiled for choice. Here are just a few images. The market continues tomorrow from 12-6pm at our Whiston Road arches in Hoxton, and next door @bigskystudios. Details about how to get there can be found on our website: http://e2.turningearth.uk/events/
We’ll have more music tomorrow as both members of @theturbans and Davey Green and co will be making an appearance. We’ll also have some new artists showing. So do come back and bring your friends and get a head start on Christmas. We also have food from @hanoi_ca_phe, and coffee from @climpsonandsons and mulled wine and mince pies. ❤️🎄☕️🥧🍷🍜🎼⚱️⚱ ️⚱️⚱️⚱️⚱️
