inaugural society summer party that's gonna be lit! - first of many farewells to our departing members - post-exam get-together in the sun - a nice breather for tort law students
Itโs the last day of term, and some may say the entire academic year. ๐ โโโโโโ โโ Hereโs a look back at what has arguably been the climax of the academic year for our Society - Election Fever 2k19!!! ๐ณ๐คฉ๐ฅณ๐ Starting with Hustings, and followed by Varsities, the Brexit Seminar and 3 days of in-person campaigning, this unprecedented package of events was an intense experience of leadership renewal for candidates and members alike. โโโโโโ โโ Thereโs much to be excited about what the Society will achieve in the next academic year. In the meantime, letโs all study hard as our Society goes on hiatus for Easter, and we shall all meet again for a final farewell after the exams ~ ๐ @ London, United Kingdom

On the evening of Tuesday March 5th, Ashurst will be hosting a Brexit seminar at UCL. This is a wonderful opportunity to brush up on your commercial awareness skills and understand the impact of Brexit on law firm clients. This session will provide you with the Ashurst Regulatory team's insights on Brexit and the speakers will discuss the effect of Brexit on clients affected by developments in financial regulation. There will also be a short commercial awareness quiz on Brexit where you can apply knowledge gained from the seminar. We hope to see you all in attendance at this special seminar!
A time for us to come together to renew the leadership of our Society, and have a great time!

Feeling the Monday blues after the week-long break? ๐ฅถ โโโโโโ โโ Donโt feel that way - hereโs a reminder of the good news that we have received over reading week. For the first time in its history, the UCL Law Society has been nominated for not one, but three awards at the LawCareers.Net Best Student Law Society Awards 2019. These awards, as shown in the images, bear testament to the enthusiasm of our members, passion of our Committee and support by our many pillars including... our Faculty, sponsors and organiser of the contest itself, LawCareers.Net! ๐ฏ โโโโโโ โโ Special shout-out to our counterpart UCL Law for All Society Society for its nomination for โBest Society for Non-Law Studentsโ. ๐ โโโโโโ โโ Letโs hope that the awards ceremony on 14 March will go down in history to mark a golden era for two of UCLโs foremost Law-related Societies ๐ ๐ฅณ ๐คฉ

Last evening, four of our members represented the UCL Law Society at the annual Eversheds Sutherland KCL - UCL Varsity Debate. โโโโโโ โโ Through sheer hard work and practice, Matthew Stevens-Keane, Makar Rozhkov, Roman Znava and Sofia Stepanova put up an inspiring display of oratorical flair. Though we did not bring home the cup this year, we are proud of our members for their excellent performance and outstanding efforts! ๐ โโโโโโ โโ In other good news from our Societyโs ...debating scene, Radu Suciu also reached the semi-final of the LSE Open, and was ranked 20th best speaker out of 73 participants in his category. This is an excellent result, seeing as as LSE Open is regarded the third most keenly contested competition within the country. โโโโโโ โโ On the international stage at the UD Paris Open - an international competition featuring teams from China, France, Spain, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom - our member Adeline Tsui ranked as 12th best speaker, while our Speaker Secretary Neo Wei Sheng himself ranked 8th best speaker out of 48 participants. ๐คฉ๐ฅณ โโโโโโ โโ Kudos to Neo for keeping up with our thriving debating scene, and to all participating members for your commitment to the cause! ๐ช๐ป๐๐ฏ

A very happy lunar new year to all our members and followers! ๐๐ฅณ๐งง
The UCL Law Society celebrated this occasion in advance by coming together for a meal at London Chinatownโs iconic Wong Kei last Thursday evening. The festive atmosphere lasted well into the night, as our members grooved to classic Spanish tunes over at Salvador & Amanda off Covent Garden. ๐๐บ
Weโre proud to be a place as diverse as the UCL Law Society! More importantly, itโs precious moments like these that will define our time at UCL Laws as a memorable and enjoyable experience ๐ @ London, United Kingdom
The UCL Law Society had a good run at Inner Temple last weekend. ๐๐ป โโโโโโ โโ For the first time ever, the UCL Law Society sent teams to the Inner Temple Open (a highly-contested debating competition featuring over 100 participants) as the only participating university law society. We fared exceptionally well as first-timers - while we did not take home the title, our first year member Radu Suciu was ranked as the 6th best speaker in his category. ๐ฏ โโโโโโ โโ Likewise, our... final year members Neeva Desai and Robert Shu did us proud by emerging as Champions out of 20 teams from across the country competing in the Inner Temple Inter-Varsity Moot. Notably, this the first time in a decade that we have taken home the coveted Bhutan Cup ๐. โโโโโโ โโ Credit is due to our Speaker Secretary, Neo, and Senior Moots Officer, Niam, for making it possible for our Society to participate in these Competitions. โโโโโโ โโ To all members who have represented us, and will be representing us at external Competitions, we are proud of you for your efforts no matter the outcome ๐ช๐ป๐คฉ๐๐ป๐

As always, we're finding reasons to have a great time together! Chinese New Year falls on 5 February '19 this year - what better way to celebrate it then by having some Chinese food and a party after? โโโโโโ โโ At 6.00 pm on Thursday, 31 January, we'll be leaving from Bentham House to Wong Kei, an iconic restaurant that has been serving up cheap and good Chinese grub in London's Chinatown for decades now. Expect some tasty Cantonese and Straits Chinese food (i.e. Hong Kong a...nd Singapore cuisine) that won't put a dent on your wallet. โโโโโโ โโ Thereafter, we'll head round the corner to our favourite hangout - Salvador & Amanda - for half-priced jugs of sangria and some banging tunes. No one is getting out of our CNY 2k19 celebration sober! โโโโโโ โโ Do let us know that you're joining us for dinner by clicking "go", so that we can reserve a seat for you at the restaurant. If you're joining us after dinner, do click "maybe" instead. โโโโโโ โโ SEE YOU THERE <3

Last night (17th January 2019), Adelaide House welcomed eight of UCL Law Societyโs most talented mooters to the Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP Speed Mooting Semifinals and Finals.
The night started out with an intense Semifinals. After the announcement of the names of the four finalists, they were only given 30 minutes to analyse their given scenarios, apply the authorities and prepare their speeches. Despite the difficulty of the task, the finalists nonetheless demonstrated... what can only be deemed the epitome of advocacy skills.
Congratulations to the champion Ellen Chan! Also, well done to the finalists, Thomas Lam, Juliet Leung and George Ge.
BCLP announced that they were more than impressed with the standard of mooting demonstrated last night, and as a result the graduate recruitment team has decided to award all four finalists work placement schemes.
We would like to thank the enthusiastic participants, supportive spectators and especially our proud sponsors BCLP for hosting this inaugural event with us.
