Creative Season Art & (H)aktivism announcement: Silenced Museum 28 - 30th September
'Founded in January 2018, Silenced Museum is a direct action group using visual art, music and performance to inspire widespread intervention against sexual harassment. We strive to welcome broad audiences – allies and the disunited alike – through accessible content, educating and raising awareness around the importance of social action.
We are delighted to join Ugly Duck, during their Art an...d (H)acktivism season, with our 'Intervention Weekend'. In true hactivist manner, we are putting together an exhibition of work by women and non-binary artists which represent their varying and diverse experiences of sexual harassment through VR, moving image, film and beyond. We will also welcome a roster of brilliant performance artists and advocates, who will deliver workshops, demonstrate the ways in which you can take part in long term community rooted change around sexual harassment.'

We are very happy to welcome Pop-Up Opera back to Tanner Street with 'La Tragédie de Carmen'
A reimagining of Bizet’s famous masterpiece by Peter Brook. Collaborating with composer Marius Constant, Brook focused his work on the tragic tale of the four characters who lie at the heart of the original piece. Their intense interaction creates a moving and thought-provoking drama, filled with much of Bizet’s wonderful music including Carmen’s Habanera, Escamillo’s Toreador Song an...d Don José’s Flower Song. A familiar tale, but not as you expect it…

Sxrvxve Designed Howlings: radical jokes and secrets 20/07 - 22/07
... How can we create justice for ourselves when traditional avenues are unavailable? Designed Howlings explored creation as a course of radical action, highlighting artists who use art and design to create secret communications, inside jokes, and hidden modes of resistance.
Named for the 'howlings' of early suffrage activists, these current arts of resistance live in the context of women's suffrage, the industrial revolution, and the relationships between design reform, technical innovation, and the labor movement. Ranging from radical product design and sound art to game art, tattoo design, and social sculpture, exhibited creations savage the status quo.

Lumen Cosmic Perspectives 25/05 - 27/05
... The theme of the exhibition examined the fragility and monumental importance of life on Earth, from the darkness of space, and how concepts such as the Overview Effect alter collective perception of ecology.
Through the exhibition, Lumen invited participants to create a new conversation around climate change, and the overall damage and destruction we are causing to our environments. The exhibition aimed to inspire a change of thinking through highlighting the precarious nature of life, and the extraordinary set of circumstances that allow us to exist, in an otherwise, possibly, lifeless universe.

FLUX ART IN FLUX: Experiments in Media Arts Now 31/05 - 03/06
... The ART IN FLUX: Experiments in Media Arts Now exhibition showcased artist's works on the intersection between art and technology. For the first time, FLUX’s introspective artist discourse opened up to the wider public, sharing the work of FLUX associated artists with local communities and those unfamiliar with Media Art in the UK.
Profiling contemporary strategies in the Media Arts and Light Art happening right now in the UK; the exhibition involved artists working with a plethora of media; from projection and live body mapping to kinetic and light sculpture and interactive installations.
The show was curated by FLUX founders Aphra Shemza, Maria Almena and Oliver Gingrich and co-curated with the artists involved as a collective project. Themed around three concepts: Light/Reflections, Transformation/Illusion and Transcendence the public is invited to explore what it means to create Media Art over the course of the exhibition. Through interactivity and playful engagement Media Arts and cutting-edge technologies were opened to the public to explore, understand and engage with.

This showcase included an exhibition, events and talks about art, hacking and activism.
Asking questions such as how do we dismantle invisible walls and the symbolic containment of existing power structures?
The event created a platform for projects that subvert, improve and criticise systems in place.
