To celebrate the release of his upcoming brand new album later this year, Barry Adamson will headline two intimate shows at Manchester RNCM and London’s Union Chapel.
October 2018 marks the release of a brand new Barry Adamson anthology which brings together tracks from post punk legends Magazine, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds alongside classic Adamson tracks from throughout his solo career including ‘I Got Clothes – A Certain Ratio Rework’ which was playlisted by 6Music for fi...ve weeks, Jazz Devil, The Big Bamboozle and The Man With The Golden Arm.
Barry Adamson has been creating all of his life. Perhaps his greatest creation is himself as a multi-disciplined artist. The self-taught musician rose to prominence as the bass player in Magazine and toured extensively. His establishment as a solo artist came after a three year stint with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and heralded the release of his seminal first solo album, ‘Moss Side Story’. Critically acclaimed, it raised Adamson’s name as a composer of diverse complexity; able to tell a story with music, where the images were those supplanted in the minds of the listeners.
Offers quickly followed and saw Adamson work with some of the film industry’s most intriguing mavericks including Derek Jarman, David Lynch, Oliver Stone and Danny Boyle.
Having released nine studio albums, including the 1992 Mercury Music Prize nominated ‘Soul Murder’, Adamson has continued to tour globally with his talents being in as much demand by new generations of artists, as he was after his first solo release.

Here's another treasure from our collection! The annual report from Morton Road Ragged School 1871.
It shows the contribution made by the congregation of Union Chapel to this school for the poor from before the state provided education.

Stunning venue with amazing acoustics. Very friendly staff. Hot drinks in proper mugs, and refreshments. Meals available and a bar. Lovely that it's so close to Highbury and Islington tube station on Victoria line too. Love it here. Highly recommended.

Nouvelle Vague.

Awesome.

What a gorgeous venue for such an intimate gig. Make sure that you ask for a cushion for your pew.

We also had lovely food prepared at the chapel - a mildly spiced vegetarian dhal and rice. So tasty!

A night that will live long in the memory, and the chapel was a star...

User

My favourite venue after the Royal Albert Hall, fantastic atmosphere and acoustics and sitting in pews adds to the experience. I love you can get tea/coffee in a mug, no recycling issues.

User

I had a great evening at the union chapel with work colleagues. the entertainment was fab.

i was last at this veneu 50 years ago when I was at Banbury girls secondary school. loved it

User

Have no idea why I haven't been to Union Chapel before. It's an excellent venue - friendly, helpful staff, people and procedures to work around the occasional limitations of the building, wonderful accoustics and a reasonably-priced bar. Oh, and I'm With Her were amazing. Thanks.

User

Have been a few times now, amazing venue, highly recommended, just remember it is a working church and seating is hard wooden pews so bring seat pads or cushions and enjoy the whole experience

User

Great venue in a great part of London, lovely staff, fantastic event on 17.7.18 - but do take a cushion!

User

Excellent venue. Perfect acoustics. Clear view of the stage from your seated position. Highly recommended venue which is very close to the tube station!

User

Best venue in London so possibly the world! If you can actually play and sing this is the place!

User

Another great night at this awesome venue. Good meal in the cafe beforehand. Nice atmosphere with nice people. I love what you’re doing there. Keep it up and see you soon.

User

Absolutely beautiful and atmospheric venue. My favourite for music in London.

User

Absolutely amazing venue. The sound was perfect and suited Deaf Havana’s reworked music down to the ground. Best gig I have ever been to!

User

A fantastic venue with extremely helpful staff who guided our choir through everything we needed to know last night as we were backing Kerry Ellis on her 20th anniversary tour. Can’t thank them enough!! #londonshowchoir #kerryellis #unionchapel x

User

A beautiful venue! Went to see Yiannis Kotsiras, on March 2nd, for the second time. What an amazing night! Wonderful atmosphere. Fantastic lighting & acoustics.

User

What a venue !! can’t say its the best in London, as I’ve not been to every venue in London. We had to wait from 6:30 when the doors opened until 9pm when Rosanne Cash came on stage, those two and a half hours were spent in wonderment gazing at this incredible building.

User

Very good venue if a tad chilly at times. Great atmosphere & good acoustics with good views of the stage. Was there for a comedy evening which was absolutely cracking

User

Excellent venue, in a beautiful building. All the staff were very helpful. We sat upstairs, a couple of rows from the back, facing the middle of the stage. There was a bar holding up a single speaker that did not work. Two of our party are regulars and they always try and sit in this position. The view is excellent and apparently the acoustics are really good. Sadly they were not brilliant on this night. We could hear the backing band quite well, unfortunately the singer, the wonderful Mavis Staples was very muffled. I pointed this out to a member of staff and some other people around me nodded and clapped because they thought exactly the same. He definitely sent a message to someone about the problem. The sound got better, but still not perfect. This was Mavis' first night of two, hopefully they got is sorted for the second night.

So I would have loved to give the Union Chapel 5 stars, but this, I think is one of the only things that a venue should get right.

I will still go back, because it's a great place.

BTW. There is also a well stocked bar and they also do food. I can't comment on the food as I did not try it. Looked and smelled pretty good though.

User

Love this venue, but have just received a msg requesting another £10 a ticket for Rosanne Cash. This is months after I bought the tickets. Suddenly it's no contract unless I pay up. Disgraceful, and quite possibly against the law. I do not know if the venue or Music Glue is at fault but I Am seriously pissed off..
