Good Evening everyone,
We hope you are all keeping well and safe during these challenging times.
We would like to update you all on the matter of whether our beloved pets are able to get Covid-19, as i know this is something that has been spoken about recently.
... A very small number of animals, around the world, have tested positive. However, they have not had the disease in a form which was clinically relevant or transmissible. Whilst these are concerning times, we want to reassure you that there is no evidence that pets play a role in the spread of COVID-19. Infectious disease experts and multiple human & animal health organisations agree there is no evidence that pets can spread the disease to people.

The British Veterinary Association have today (8th April 2020) advised the following “We are not advising that all cats are kept indoors. Only cats from infected households or where their owners are self-isolating, and only if the cat is happy to be kept indoors. Some cats cannot stay indoors due to stress-related medical reasons. There have been a tiny number of cases of Covid-19 in animals and in all cases, it is likely that the transmission was human to animal. There is no evidence that pets can pass Covid-19 to their owners.”
The main risk of transmission is from other people, not through pets, so please continue to adopt government and NHS advice. It is always sensible to wash your hands after handling your pets, and we continue to advise this. More advice is available on the government website - https://www.gov.uk/…/coronavirus-covid- 19-advice-for-people…
Sending you all best wishes Love Braintree Vets4Pets x

Our team would all like to say a huge thank you to our clients for their patience and understanding at this difficult time.
We understand that it is an inconvenience for us to have to cancel some of your appointments last minute and those booked in for the coming weeks but we are following government and RCVS - Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons guidelines to protect our staff, our clients and the wider public, so thank you again for your support, we really do appreciate it.

A happy post for you this morning. Two of our patients are TV stars and will be on TV tonight at 10pm, appearing in the Channel 4 show 'The Pet Talent Agency: Barking Mad'. Leo and Edith are two gorgeous Border Terriers who we think would love for you to watch them tonight or record them for later viewing. Enjoy and stay safe

** COVID 19 UPDATE** INFORMATION FOR OUR REGISTERED CLIENTS: Please DO NOT attend the practice without calling us first – 01376 348934
Following the recent Government Announcement we would like to reassure you that our practice remains open. We will however ONLY be able to provide EMERGENCY and URGENT care to your pets. Our hours remain as 9am-7pm (Pets at home close at 6pm)
... For this reason we will be contacting all of our routine appointments to cancel or arrange another alternative. This includes any vaccinations and nurse consultations ect. We do apologise for the inconvienece that this will cause.
If you are concerned regarding your pet then please give us a call and we will be able to provide veterinary advice over the phone by a clinical member of staff. If we feel your pets treatment is deemed essential we will arrange an appropriate time for you to attend the practice where it best fits.
For clients that are attending the practice we have already implemented strict social distancing. We would ask only one human present per patient. Please check in at reception as you usually would and use the hand sanitizer provided. You will then be asked to either wait in the waiting room or in your car. A brief history will be taken and it is likely the consultation will be done via telephone whilst we examine your pet.
If you have any medication to collect, we are asking, where possible, for us to post this to you. There will be a postal charge involved and we can make you aware of this at the time of ordering your prescription.
We are asking all payments to be done via card or over the phone, where possible, again to encourage social distancing.
We want to thank you all again for your incredible support during this difficult time for everyone and your patience. This crisis is ever changing and we will continue to keep you updated as this occurs.
STAY SAFE, and stay home where possible.
With Love Vets4Pets Braintree x

**Covid-19 Update**
Again, we hope everyone is well and continuing to try and stay as positive as possible in these uncertain times.
A few changes have been made to our surgery over the last 24hrs due to the current social distancing meaures. We have taped off some of our chairs in reception to encourage our clients to distance themselves from others and also put a line of tape a short distance from Reception for our safety and yours.
... We are asking that only one client arrives with their pet for appointments to minimise the number of clients in reception and consult rooms.
If you are symptomatic or have been exposed to the Covid-19 virus symptoms please be honest and do not enter the practice.
Following the World Health Organisation guidelines we encourage clients to pay by card rather than cash.
Please avoid physical contact with our team
We do also ask our clients to please be patient - we are doing our best but we are also affected in these difficult times
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding, from all the team at Vets4Pets Braintree

**COVID-19 update**
Hello everybody, we hope that you are all keeping well and trying to remain as positive as possible with all thats going on. Firsty, apologies for the lack of updates, we will try to keep you all updated as much as possible from now.
... Amid the concerning coronavirus situation, helping you maintain the good health and well-being of your pet remains at the heart of everything that we do, and we are working hard during this worrying time to continue to be able do that.
As of today 19th March 2020 unfortunately we will be adjusting our opening hours to coincide with Pets at Home Braintree. We will be opening at 9am as normal but closing at 6pm Monday to Friday until further notice. Our weekend opening hours are not changing at this present time.
To help us continue to provide our service, our priority is also to keep our colleagues as safe as possible, which means minimising the spread of any virus within our practices.
As a veterinary care provider, upholding outstanding hygiene levels is part of our daily life and we regularly carry out clinical deep cleans as standard within the practice.
We would like to ask for your support with the following:
- Any pet visiting the clinic should bring a maximum of one human with them
- We provide our clients with access to hand sanitiser and ask that you use this on entering the practice
- If you are unable to visit but need to collect medicine for your pet, please contact us and we will arrange to post it out to you
- If you can’t visit the practice and are concerned about your pet’s health, please contact us and we can discuss the options available
We are continuing to monitor government advice closely and any impact to our services will be shared with you via our website and Facebook page. As we have previously shared there is currently no scientific evidence to suggest that pets can become infected by, or spread, COVID-19, but you can find out more here: https://www.pdsa.org.uk/…/…/coronavir us-and-covid-19-in-pets

As today is world spay day, it seems appropriate to share our post from 2015. Spaying your pet prevents some cancers along with unwanted pregnancies and as seen in the original post, a womb infection called a pyometra. If you are thinking of spaying your pet and have some questions, our team are happy to help, call us on 01376 348934

This is our VCA Corinne's Rabbit, Jemima. Jemima was spayed with us on Friday and came in on Sunday to have her post operative check. Spaying is especially important for a Rabbit as research has shown that up to 80% of entire Rabbit's will develop uterine cancers in their lifetime therefore shortening their lifespan. Spaying prevents uterine and ovarian cancers as well as unwanted pregnancies. Given the opportunity a Rabbit can have up to 12 litters a year as they are induced ovulators and their pregnancies are just 28-31 days long. If you have any questions or would like to book your Rabbit in for neutering please call us on 01376 348934.
