Almost 2 years ago Grenfell happened in a part of London I grew up in. Immediately mine and many others response was, what can we do to help? At Vout-O-Reenees we decided to raise money to tide things over and pay for the therapy units in the area until public money became available. With one night of music and an exhibition of art donated by artists and art dealers, and a tombola ,we raised almost £40,000 pounds. This year I have been struck by a crisis that should be gett...ing us all worried, especially in London - Gang Violence. It's a long time since my kids were teenagers but I know how this blighted our lives and teenagers lives then in the 2000's in south London. Gang crime culture violence is now big money and its all around drugs and kids are getting killed because of it. You must have heard about it on the news? What are we going to do about it? And if you've ever taken drugs yes, it is our responsibility. it is not enough to lock kids up we need to present choices that are better than a life of crime Recently i met an inspiring man who is leading a band of volunteers to help eradicate gang culture in East London with Football - Bobby Kasanga invented Hackney Wick FC and is building a junior football league! The adult club is already doing really well. Unfortunately Bobby is not being funded by the public purse. he's had small grants but it's a struggle to keep the work funded yet he has grown to training 160 kids and 70 adults (16 youth teams and 2 adult ones) involved. Money is desperately needed to keep this going. We at Vouts, want to be able to pay for the pitches and office and maybe even a van for away games. Will you please help by donating a piece of work, a performance or by buying tickets for a fundraiser? This is about helping our community of Hackney, without your help we cant do anything, with it, we can change kids lives. If it saves one kids LIFE it's worth it; Isn't it? Please contact me if you want to help we'd love you to be involved. An exhibition will be hung in the gallery on the 1st April, the auction will be on the 11th with performances and ticket s on sale for £20. Possibly the best hidden gem in London ! Best party space! Sophie and Jan are so welcoming and amazing. Just to think the whole club is hand painted too. Incredible. Also amazing cocktails !
Lovely to meet Sophie and Jan this evening and chat with Jan about her crypt endeavours while sipping a fine tap water with lemon and ice ... speak to you again soon ...

It's brilliant fun. you never know who you'll meet or what you'll talk about. Hours float away in this surreal landscape beneath a church.
It's a thoroughly splendid place . . . attitude and conversation are the key determiners of this . . .
It really doesn't get much better than this.
I felt transported in time and space, where art, kindness and creativity reign supreme. In a golden period pause, one that doesn’t belong to the past or future - rather a self contained combination of it all. Unique.
Hours do float by and it has become my second home and you can just turn up and discover a whole web of magical people and stories that are weaving themselves into Vout'-O-Reenee's legacy.
