A couple of pictures from this years Battersea Park Rotary Club Christmas dinner. We had 23 vehicles and volunteer drivers helping on the day (a few of them pictured) and it was a huge success as ever, with over 400 guests enjoying a fantastic Christmas lunch and entertainment - and of course door-to-door transport that helped it all happen. Congratulations and thanks to all those involved.

I know you have all seen it before, but this ecologically and Greta approved card still holds good and the message still remains HAPPY CHRISTMAS

User

Very pleased to spot this - I will us it as a request to anyone out there who can volunteer to help our shoppers over Christmas to give me a call on 07801 227 241. It is not so much the shopping, it is more the getting out and having someone to chat with and have a cup of tea that is really important, so please do get in touch. And if you fancy yourself as a driver and can cope with awful traffic, all weathers, securing wheelchairs on your hands and knees, finding addresses down tortuous back streets with a couple of inches to spare on each side, road rage and more, then like Gi, you could become one of our fantastic and extremely talented drivers! Do get in touch Manuel

Come and see our Shopmobility Team who will have a table here.
We will have a scooter there if you want a little try.

And here is another one! You have to say, they write a mean press release

Some recent publicity from the Balham DailyPrss - please spread amongst your networks. Thanks Manuel

Farewell to Clive and Keith. Clive has retired at the age of 80 and is one of the best volunteer drivers we have ever had! Keith Pain has moved on to pastures new, and Ross is pictured giving them both a hug. We gave them a great send off at the Kings Head and we will miss them.

We are running a conference to encourage small self-help groups of individuals to get organised and plan some days out. Now the summer is nearly here, what could be better than a day out with new friends? The leaflet explains all!

User

Looking forward to the New 'Summer Day Trips' List. Starting in May.

Is there anybody out there?

Ever wondered what it's like to trave with Wandsworth Community Transport? One of our passengers has put it in verse!
A JOURNEY TO SHOPMOBILITY
The bus that I boarded to Shopmo today... Was full of old ladies with hair white and grey. All telling each other in voices quite shrill Of all their problems and every known ill. In the time that it took to travel two miles I heard about pimples, and boils and piles. Gladys had earache and Jill was in pain From muscular cramp and a varicose vein. Betty told Ada who’d lost all her hair Of (horror of horrors) a problem “down there”. Florrie, a lady who seems very frail Told all of the others a terrible tale Of being attacked by the cat from next door Leaving her buttocks all tattered and raw. A lady named Martha just couldn’t resist Describing in detail her nasty big cyst. Mabel was telling her good friend Nanette Of the pain in her toe and how bad it could get. Meanwhile some-one at the back of the bus Seemed to be causing a great deal of fuss By claiming her illness would put theirs to shame But, being well bred I can’t tell you its name.
The stories were nasty but worse was to come Making me shudder and leaving me numb. For Doris was telling her closest friend Lil Of a problem with wind that was making her ill. Then, much to my horror and great consternation Proceeded to give her a loud demonstration.
When I got off the bus I could only assume That I’d actually travelled in God’s Waiting Room!

Front row seats at the Southwark Cathedral Carol Service. A very successful new outing for Christmas - everyone loved it and we are definitely going again next year.

A great AGM yesterday, with entertainment from the new WCT choir. The Mayor was our special guest and the recent Civic Award won by the Shopmobility Volunteers was on proud display. The choir is part of our "combating loneliness campaign" and wowed the audience with their versions of When I'm 64, Delilah and La Bamba. Anyone interested in joining should contact Manuel. This was their opening number, I only want to be with you.

User

Come to our AGM on Tuesday 20th November, 1.30 at Earlsfield Library and hear our new choir in action. It is more a sing-a-long group than a choir, but is a lot of fun, and we promise to get the audience involved. Members include passengers, volunteers and staff (only half of them are in shot) and everyone who fancies a sing is welcome to join. Call WCT and ask for Manuel.

Please Share to everyone so we can reach a wider audience.
