Specialising in bringing artisan fabrics to the textile market, Blue Handed is dedicated to combining ancient crafting traditions from the Far East with contemporary design. Celebrating the 800-year-old art of Chinese resist printing, Blue Handed works closely with an Indigo Master to produce a comprehensive range of natural, hand dyed textiles. The ethical and sustainable fabrics use ingredients that are locally grown and sourced.
The dying technique, which has been unchange...d for centuries, involves applying traditional hand cut decorative patterns to natural cotton cloth. Coating the fabric in soybean and lime paste, before soaking in specially formulated vat dyes, gives the timeless blue and white finish.
Blue Handed uses its vast industry knowledge to work with a variety of artists and designers to explore new ways in which to use these special fabrics. The latest collection is a comprehensive range of home interior products and accessories; including scarves, cushions, throws, table linen and other soft furnishings.
