It's wonderful to see the sunlight streaming through the windows in the North Presbytery Aisle again, following a three year conservation project by Holy Well Glass. The windows are looking beautiful inside and out!

The Wykeham Arms, Winchester (just around the corner from Winchester Cathedral) was named The Good Pub Guide's Town Pub of the Year 2018. Our Choristers sing there every Christmas!

Did you know that Bishop William Wykeham (d. 1404) led the remodelling of the Nave in its current form? We think he did a pretty good job! 📷 Chris Carter

Did you know Winchester Cathedral was built to replace an even older Saxon church called the Old Minster? Stones from the Old Minster were used to build the new Cathedral and the Nave of Winchester Cathedral was longer than the whole Saxon church!
Find out more about the Anglo Saxon Minster and its role in the birth of the English nation with our tour and tea this Saturday at 10.00am. Book tickets here ->> http://bit.ly/2MxUfWM

Winchester Cathedral is a great building. It's lovely inside and out. Always a pleasure to visit and the prices to go in are great value for money with the tickets lasting for a year from the issue date. I always enjoy visiting the Cathedral whenever I go to Winchester.

User

Very beautiful. It was closed for graduation ceremonies when we got there so we just had a look around Winchester, went to the Great Hall, the Gurkha museum etc. Went back at 4 PM when graduations were over. It's a very beautiful building with lots of history.

User

Very beautiful place made very interesting by the free guides. The tickets allows a year for as many visits as you can we will be back

User

Thoroughly enjoyed looking around the cathedral. A wonderful place and really felt the history of the place. We did the tower tour - do it if you can well worth it. The guides were very knowledgeable & very entertaining.

User

The interior is outstanding and there are so many must-see features. The atmosphere of quiet contemplation was somewhat marred by the sound of scaffolding poles being taken down in the presbytery and a very noisy cleaning machine in the nave but hey, that's the modern world for you!

User

My absolute favourite building in the whole world. Every time I step inside I discover something new. For such a vast place there are still small quiet spaces of calm to be found too.

User

I visited today. It was wonderful to see the altar, water in the crypt and talk to a lovely lady all about calligraphy. The cathedral is looking amazing after its building work!

User

Beautiful Historical Cathedral

User

Beautiful Cathedral, helpful Parishioners, great cafe and gift shope too.

User

Awesome building! Make sure you go down to the crypt if you’re able. I am not hugely religious myself but cannot resist the historical pull of these magnificent feats of medieval engineering. To think that one man in a diving suit saved this building single handedly makes you wish there was 24 hour news in those days!

User

As everyone else said; it's an amazing cathedral and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the architecture, particularly the ceiling #WOW#

User

Amazing!!! I felt privileged to be amongst such grandeur and history. The stone work and wood carvings, the stained glass windows and paintings. We went to see the memorial to the Kings Royal Rifle Corps and found my great grand fathers name in the book which was kindly pointed out to me by a very helpful member of staff. Highly recommend a visit.

User

Amazing place I'm here right now and Hail King Arthur!!!

User

Absolutely beautiful, felt privileged to see final resting place of Jane Austen 💕

User

We came yesterday as Very proud family as our daughter graduated with a first class honours degree 🎓 not only were we bursting with pride but as we come from Salisbury, a cathedral city itself, it was lovely to see this remarkable building too. We were sat towards the back of the cathedral but still in the main body of the cathedral and I for one was very impressed with how beautifully maintained it was and really appreciated the use of TV screens so that we could get a clear view as Leah collected her degree from Alan Titchmarsh. Thank you for allowing the ceremony to take place in your beautiful building really added the final touch to a truly memorable day

User

To expensive to get in ! So review is not good as didn’t get in to see . Please reduce your prices I’m sure a lot more ppl would visit !

User

Daughter wanted to visit on her 21st birthday. but were shocked to find a £8 per adult entrance fee. surely any house of god should welcome all for free. ?? this was our first visit to Winchester and our last.

User

Perhaps my one star does seem very mean but we’d travelled from the Midlands to visit the cathedral. It’s not an easy journey so imagine our disappointment to find that the cathedral was closed to the public for graduation ceremonies all week. We’d checked the opening times on the website with no mention of the closures!! Apparently I should’ve looked on the EVENTS tab. So one star because closures should be on your front webpage not hidden in a remote tab.

User

Fixed entrance fee demanded by the guards inside ,Salisbury Cathedral ask only for a contribution towards your visit ,
