Habitats, Nocturnal animals, Minibeasting and pond dipping (where there is a pond in school)

I am hoping that this page will allow teachers to contact me with regard to me coming into school to give nature lessons and free advice on how to make your school grounds wildlife friendly. I will run fun sessions with the aim to inspire and educate pupils in the wonders of nature. My sessions will be bespoke to your requirements and curriculum linked. I always try to include an outside session as well as a lesson in the classroom. We go minibeasting, pond dipping (if the school has a pond) and make a visual chart of the inverts we find in school. We can measure trees with clinometres and estimate the age by measuring their girth. We look at the structures of animals and what makes them unique to their habitat. We can compare different areas of the school regarding where most invertebrates are to be found and how we can increase invertebrate numbers through wildlife areas. For the younger children we can introduce them to habitats through stories and then making small dens from twigs and leaves.
