It has been a very hot and sunny week ūüĆě but that hasn‚Äôt stopped us from making the most of the outdoors while we still can ūüŹěÔłŹ
The children have just exercised their problem-solving skills ūü§Ē and found a solution to get away from the sunshine while still being able to play outside safely ‚Äď they made a lovely tent ūüŹēÔłŹ !

We have been busy making cards for our parents today ūüíĆ
Art is a wonderful means through which children understand emotions and learn to express them. They gain confidence ūüí™ after seeing that their finished artwork turned out beautifully. Showing off the finished cards to their teachers ūüĎ®‚ÄćūüŹęūüĎ©‚ÄćūüŹę and parents ūüĎ©ūüĎ® is a great means through which their self-esteem is built!
What do you think about the beautiful artworks?

We are all geared up in our paint smocks for a day full of finger painting ūüĎ©‚Äćūüé®
Children have been discovering the texture of paint, the smell of paint and seeing how the different colours mix together ‚Äď all while popping some bubbles on the bubble wrap ūüé®
This has been a wonderful way to improve their sensory abilities, particularly their visual, auditory and kinaesthetic skills! It also improved their hand-eye coordination as finger painting involves some complex hand movements ūüĖĆÔłŹ

Meet our little builders! We have been building roads and bridges for our toy cars and toy trucks ūüöó
The children have been developing their concentration skills as they have been focusing on building their project from start to finishūüŹĀ. They have also been incredibly patient while building so as to not knock their creation over! They have been very cooperative and have been carefully working in a team ūüĎ∑‚Äć‚ôÄÔłŹūüĎ∑‚Äć‚ôāÔłŹ

We have been busy learning how to iron with our wooden ironing board and iron toy today!
Wooden toys are not only very safe but they make for great toys through which children can develop key life skills ‚ú®. Imaginative play with wooden toys that are in the shape of household items is a wonderful way for children to build real life skills while exercising their imaginations ūüí≠

The children absolutely love reading The Queen‚Äôs KnickersūüĎĎ! Reading funny storybooks that they enjoy is a wonderful way through which children start gaining an interest and passion for reading ūüďĖ
We have quiet and cosy corners ūüõčÔłŹ for reading where children can develop their literacy and vocabulary while reading books which they really enjoy!

User

We always encourage children to get involved in cleaning up with us after playtime through fun activities ūüöģ
Learning to clean up is an important part of children’s development as it teaches them about responsibility and helps them build healthy habits from an early age!
Further, cleaning up together is a wonderful activity where children can work together in a team to make sure their toys are put back in the right place ‚öĹ

Thank you for helping us in picking names for our three new chicks. Please welcome Hermoine, Luna and Ginny ūüź£ūüź£ūüź£
We are so excited to watch them grow and join our animal garden!

Today we have been busy exploring our water trays that are filled with different herbs ūüćÉ
We discovered the different scents and colours of herbs. The children were delighted to discover the strong fragrance of mint ūüĎÉ!
This outdoor sensory play is an amazing activity to engage all the senses ‚Äď children smelled fresh herbs, discovered their beautiful, vibrant colours and splashed herbs in the water to wash them!

User

The children have been taking great care of our plants, making sure they are watered ūüí¶ everyday so that our sunflowers ūüĆĽ can bloom.
We have been learning about science and nature by growing our very own green beans and onions too ūüĆŅ

Other than the physical benefits of dancing, did you know that dance can help alleviate children‚Äôs fears related to performing in front of an audience? This group activity can also help reduce their anxiety about interacting with new people ūüíÉ
Dancing in a group to learn all the steps requires them to work in a team which increases their confidence and improves their social skills!

All set for our Graduation Party! Looking forward to welcoming all our families and friends into the nursery! ūüéď

We have been busy perfecting our yoga poses this morning ūüßė‚Äć‚ôÄÔłŹ
Yoga is an excellent way of encouraging children to add healthy exercise to their everyday routine from an early age. We integrate breathing exercises with stretching poses which makes children‚Äôs muscles become much more flexible ūü§ł‚Äć‚ôāÔłŹ. It also helps them breath better and have a better posture!
Can you guess which yoga pose we have been practicing today?

Today Cookie and Oreo had their first visit to the vets. They had a general health check and had their teeth and claws trimmed. They also had a vaccination to protect them against myxomatosis. Also it turns out Oreo is in fact a girl! Therefore we have a boy and a girl rabbit ‚ėļÔłŹ

User

The children added more big words to their vocabulary today by reading nursery rhymes and learning about different sounds that animals make. Nursery rhymes are a great way to develop their language and communication skills from an early age. Can you guess which nursery rhyme we enjoyed reading today?ūüé∂

The children love watching and playing with our two rabbits Cookie and Oreo. They have been very responsible in looking after them, nurturing and caring after their furry friends along with showing immense compassion and empathy for them. Did you know that having pets at nurseries can be very therapeutic and helps children with separation anxiety?ūüźį

We had red and green peppers for our mid-morning snack today! Not only do the children love the vibrant colours of the peppers but these peppers are immensely nutritious for them. They are a wonderful source of vitamin C which strengthens their immune system, making sure they are healthy and happy for their playtime!

User

The children and staff at Wivenhoe Park Day Nursery had a great time filming a new promotional video to be used at events and on our website ūüé•. Check it out and let us know what you think ‚ėļÔłŹ!
