About Woodin'S Shades

Traditional British pub with a restaurant upstairs located in London across from Liverpool Street serving a wide range of cask ales and delicious pub food.

Woodin'S Shades Description

For many years, The WoodinŌĆÖs Shades
has been a favourite meeting place for
the traders of Petticoat Lane and
Spitalfields Markets. Petticoat Lane
market is a historic Sunday street
market, but in the Middle Ages, it was a
tree-lined country road called HogŌĆÖs
Lane, possibly because pigs were kept
in nearby fields.

Here at The WoodinŌĆÖs Shades we
have an upstairs dining room
with a bar, creating a fantastic
private space for your get-together. The
room is large enough to accommodate
120 guests for a drinks reception or 60
guests for a seated event.

What a great place. The atmosphere is super. We spent a couple of hours people watching our of the window while supping Beer, Wine and Gin.

Staff were friendly and the service was great

User

Was in London for a very rare business trip. Found myself in Liverpool St on my tod, utterly shattered, just needing somewhere to chill out. Walked past shouty pubs, neon bars and pretentious restaurants before noticing this unassuming place out of the corner of my eye. Walked upstairs to the restaurant - barkeep recognised my unspoken need and just asked "what beer can I get you? We'll sort your food in a minute!" Well played Shades, well played. The lager was perfect, the food utterly superb, and the service personable and completely on point. The whole place is relaxed and down-to-earth, perfect for weary travellers and sociable punters alike. And trust me, when they say a double burger, they mean a double burger. That badboy wouldn't have fit in my face if I'd been able to dislocated my jaw....

All in all, a singularly outstanding pub. End of.

User

The woodins shades what an amazing city pub this is. The pub is split into two section, on the ground floor you have a traditional style English pub with real ale and a great selection of IPA. Upstairs you have one of the most attractive dining rooms for the city of London. Food is superb and the steaks are amazing so juicy and tender!! I will be back when I'm on my travels!!

User

Nice clean pub, near Liverpool Street station, lots of choices of great beers with a warm welcoming atmosphere. Takes you off of the crazy busy pavements and roads outside and into a relaxed slower way of life. Perfect when waiting for a train ;)

Fantastic Supper Last night, I had the Sunday Special of Steak, eggs and Chips and my husband had, Scampi, Peas and Chips.

We had been staying in a Local Hotel and after a Weekend of Various Cuisine we wanted some good old Comfort food before we headed on off on our long overnight Journey home to Scotland and that's exactly what we got, washed Down with a nice glass of wine and a Pint of Lager.

Would definitely return.

Thanks Woodie's Shades.

Great location.

Please do not deep fry black pudding tho.

Shame about the constant flow of beggars through the bar

User

We have visited the pub today and ordered some snacks. Onion rings and garlic bread very oily and tasteless. I kindly asked the bartender (possibly supervisor) if I can change it for something else as it was not eatable, she was very unhappy about it, took the plate and without saying a word left the bar. Not knowing what is happening we just left the pub, definitely not coming back and not recommending this place to anyone. Rude staff and disgusting food!

User

If offered a choice between eating here again or being gored by a bull, I would choose the former but only by a small margin. Our meal was served by a fire breathing dragon with the social graces of a viper. The plates were launched at us with a ferocity unwitnessed outside of an Olympic stadium- fortunately the content of the plate was so dry we were unlikely to suffer the consequences of a gravy drowning. Unfortunately none of us were brave enough to ask for condiments for fear of being physically assaulted by the tyrant who served us. All in all as dining experiences go, this was the most memorable for all the wrong reasons!
