World Congress Of Overseas Pakistanis - Wcop Description

World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis (WCOP) is a non-political social enterprise set up with the vision to engage over 8 million Overseas Pakistanis constituting the 7th largest Diaspora in 144 countries of the world. WCOP was co-founded in January 2012 by Syed Qamar Raza and Arif Anis Malik after long consultation with the critical mass of Diaspora leaders worldwide with the aim to build bridges of understanding among the lands of adoption and settlement and Pakistan by promoting discourse, understanding, coexistence, integration, tourism and enterprise. WCOP consists of a Diaspora specialised think tank ‘The Indus House’, the World Assembly of Overseas Pakistanis, the Council of Overseas Pakistani Organisations (COPO), National Achievers Congress, WCOP Media Forum, Pakistan Economic Consortium and Young Leaders Conference. WCOP was launched after extensive consultation and a rigorous survey led by globally famous YouGov in 2013: https://yougov. co. uk /news /2013 /06 /24 /british-attitudes-its-pakistani-diaspora /

WCOP launched the tradition of annual Integration & Christmas Dinner from 2013 as a collective celebration of diversity, multiculturalism and coexistence to build bridges between the mainstream community and minorities. These annual dinners engaged the mainstream community from the UK including the parliamentarians, writers, academics, media persons and think tank experts with attendees from diverse faiths and beliefs. These dinners attracted support from the icons such as Archbishop of Canterbury, British Prime Minister David Cameron, British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, British Minister for Minority & Commonwealth Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, British Minister for Justice Rt. Hon Simon Hughes and several other faith and non-faith organisations.

WCOP founded and launched he first Women Achievers Congress in 2015 on Thursday 29th October, 2015, at the historic Emmanuel Centre Westminster to celebrate the struggles and triumphs of girls and women from the Third World. Leaders, industry icons, stars, and CEOs convened with artists, peacemakers and activists to tell their stories and share their plans of action. The Congress was set up as a festival honouring the women who have shattered glass ceilings against the odds. The Women Achievers Congress brought together the most prominent women leaders from the UK in public sector, the British Parliament, policymaking, business, academia along with select leaders from government, media, philanthropy, and the arts. The theme of the Congress centered upon “Leading with Purpose”, and the agenda featured one-on one interviews, panel discussions and interactive breakout sessions culminating it over the keynote from the British Home Secretary Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP.

Along with the respective governments of countries of adoption, World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis works in close collaboration with Federal Government and statutory organisations, i. e. Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
