About Ye Olde Greene Manne

A country pub & resturant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Enjoy our hearty seasonal pub-food with our carefully nurtured cask ales or fine wines.

Ye Olde Greene Manne Description

No-one seems to agree how "Olde" Ye Olde Greene Manne is. Some say it dates back to a landlord called Richard Ryder in 1728. Others claim the first landlord was Samuel Fiskett in 1881. Either way it's a historic country pub with a beautiful garden. Its old English charms have caught the eye of many a movie location finder and the pub has starred in all sorts of TV and film productions as diverse as Genevieve (1952), Withnail & I, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Midsomer Murders.
A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

What a lovely evening! David, one of the managers, is a fabulous host and made us feel very welcome, as did every member of the team. We were lucky enough to go to the taster evening for their new menu and I can honestly say everything was well presented and extremely tasty. We were infrequent visitors before but after tonight it will be our place of choice for a family meal out. Thank you

User

We visited for lunch yesterday to celebrate a friends birthday. We heard that it had been done up so wanted to try it out. The Sun was out so we decided to sit outside. Lots of parking and food was lovely. Chicken Cesar salad would definitely recommend. Service was really good friendly staff.

User

We had a lovely time yesterday afternoon, good food, good beer, superb service. Their was eight of us including my two young grandchildren and they have an ideal cubby hole for a group of our size.

l love old traditional pubs like this.

User

Thank you for a lovely taster evening all food was great. My husband was in his element. Thanks to David & Lars & all the staff

User

Sampled the tasting menu this evening. The food was incredible and the service was impeccable. Will definitely be going back. I highly recommend this venue.

User

Had a wonderful evening sampling the the new menu. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Lars the manager made us feel extremely welcome and David had exceptional knowledge of the menu and a friendly manner that made us feel welcome. The food was incredible. The venue itself is very welcoming and warm. There is also a large well lit garden area where we enjoyed our drinks in the sunshine. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you

User

Had a lovely lunch yesterday, I went for the smaller bite which was perfect, my daughter had vegetarian pie and said it was very tasty, we both enjoyed Eton mess. Waitress friendly and efficient, food nicely presented

User

Had a great Friday night sampling the new menu, the food was lovely and David was a great host. I will defiantly be going back.

Yesterday 25th June I took my Mum for Birthday lunch. Lauren our server noticed my Mums limited mobility and was helpful straight away, holding open the door for us to get in. She was a great server and obviously working under pressure not to mention the heat of the day! She was kind and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our pink gin in the bar followed by lunch in the restaurant. We chose the set lunch menu which had a good choice of dishes on offer including tasty vegetarian options it was also great value! My Mum had a lovely time and we will certainly be returning.

User

Was here for a family lunch yesterday. Food was wonderful. Most of us had the roasts! Only issue was there was no way near enough staff. The bar was un-staffed pretty much the whole time. Service rather slow at tables as not enough staff. Food arrived in good time once ordered though. Would return but hope to see more staff. This has been an issue for months judging by some of the other reviews. Disappointed to see it's not been sorted.

User

Having passed Ye Olde Greene Manne every day for over a month it seemed to be the ideal place to have a birthday lunch! We made a booking at 12.00pm knowing that the restaurant would not be "heaving" ! We were welcomed by Chris who took us to the perfect table .Far enough to talk in private yet near enough to catch an eye if required...The menu has the style of Home Made with lovely comfort food including a good choice of vegetarian options...The main menu is extensive and there is something for everyone...there is a fixed price lunch menu which we chose as we liked the choices and we wanted a "lighter" lunch due to the fact we would be eating dinner later...my duo of pate was lovely with the rustic bread and something I would choose again just enough not huge pieces that you have to wade through and mostly leave half..just a perfect portion. My husband had the salt and pepper Calamari being Italian this could be a deal breaker lol it was superb...not overcooked just right I was privileged to be offered a piece! I have to agree it was lovely. Our main course consisted of my ham egg and chips and my husband's Southern Fried Chicken...the portions were generous my chips were large to my husband's French fries yummy.! I had observed that the chicken seemed from appearance to be very dry but my husband assured me this was not the case ! Through out the meal Chris was attentive and charming. We were happy with the quality of the the food and the service and we shall be returning. Can highly recommend this eatery.

User

Excellent service & atmosphere. We didn't feel rushed "even though it was very busy. We both had the roast dinner. The only criticism was that the roast beef was a bit tough. The rest of the food was very good. The desserts were lovely. I recommend the raspberry ripple cheesecake ďż˝

User

We were very disappointed with our Sunday lunch today. The server was extremely pleasant and the drinks were served quickly. Shame we can’t say the same about the food. When it arrived it was lukewarm and not up to standard.

A very disappointing experience.

User

I have always loved coming here, and seeing it has just been refurbished, was even more looking forwards to spending the evening here. Tonight I ordered the hunters chicken and it looks like someone has stolen the bacon off of my plate. I had 1 piece of teeny tiny streaky bacon that was burnt to a crisp on top of a bland piece of chicken. Disappointed:(

User

Booked a table in advance on arrival told our table wasn’t ready as previous guests hadn’t finished! The Manager wasn’t very apologetic and didn’t offer any alternatives. We eventually sat in bar area to eat and when food arrived it was quite good. However it was clear they had overbooked and not enough staff. Our waiter was great but rushed off his feet, it’s a shame it was so disorganised!

User

Been here several times and really enjoyed it. So took my Nan this time for a Sunday meal. The food was cold and no way near the standard it used to be. None of us enjoyed it. They didn't seem to fussed when we said it wasn't great afterwards.

User

25/5/‘18. Friday evening treat:have you visited “ye olde greene manne”inNorthwood? Well if you haven’t then don’t bother. The food was definitely second rate and the manager matched it. Not at all interested that part of my meal was just not served but tried to offer me more chips as replacement for crispy onion rings as he had “ run out of onion rings” . Shame he didn’t mention that when I ordered or when he plonked it on the table. My husband had a lukewarm serving of un named fish and soggy chips. Will not bother to try them again. However the waitress who cleared the table was very nice.

User

We booked for a works lunch. Despite being a party of 8, we couldn't have a table. We had to book 2x4. As is so happened, they could have moved the two tables together... but that wasn't allowed, as there were no access routes for staff!!

No starters... mains ordered.... nearly and hour later... a gentle reminder and hey presto... food.

The food was well presented if a little on the cool side, evidence that it had been sitting.

Can't take a 'doggy' bag as there was a risk of food poisoning from re-heated turkey !! There was actually more chance by leaving it to cool in the kitchen.....

Desserts ordered ... except they had run out of my if the most popular desserts.

For a quick Christmas office lunch... 2 hours.

Female staff were OK and friendly, but overworked.. the surprise was that it did not even appear to be that busy.

Used venue previous, but seems to have dropped standards...

User

Was at the pub yesterday, the hottest day of the year so far, for lunch. Yet they were very unprepared- they had run out of popular ciders... and ICE! They had one bottle of ketchup floating around all the tables outside- which were all occupied. They were extremely understaffed, with one lady behind the bar and one man running round waiting on tables outside. The queue for the bar was so long at times, that I gave up and went without a drink. The food was satisfactory, but the experience was disappointing.
