About Ye Olde Hobnails Inn
The Hobnails Inn is a 15th century character Inn located in Little Washbourne, near Tewkesbury. It was originally built in 1280 and then opened to the public in 1473 as a public house.
It is suggested that the name 'Hobnails' came from the Tewkesbury Nail Making Industry as a Hobnail is a short nail with a thick head used to increase the durability of boot shoes.
This Grade ll Listed building exudes bags of character with open beams and a welcoming log fire for those winter days, where you can see the pub in times a past. For the warmer weather there is a large garden opening up to the beautiful countryside.
We at the Hobnails Inn offer a traditional Carvery and Steakhouse, good wine and fine Real Ales and a welcoming smile!
Our aim is to bring you fresh, locally sourced, highest quality food from our kitchen direct to your table.
Our Traditional Carvery has a choice of 3 meats and a variety of 14 fresh seasonal vegetables not forgetting our homemade Gravy and Yorkshire puddings . . . Watch the Yorkshire puddings rise before your eyes!
Our Carvery is served 7 days a week
Monday to Saturday Lunch 12pm - 2pm Evening 6pm - 9pm
Sunday Carvery served All day 12pm - 8. 30pm
Our Full A La Carte Menu is also available
Monday to Saturday served all day from 12pm - 9pm
We recommend booking your table in advance as we can be very busy!

was driving past on a Monday 1700 hrs looking for somewhere to eat came across this place was very nice food plenty of veg to choose from and meat is great quality will come again
We keep coming back. A day on the steam railway. A fantastic meal afterwards, and as we are vegetarians, constantly spoilt for choice. Shame we can only mark it out of 5. Ten in my book. We'll return. Soon.
The best Carvery my partner and I have had at a good price. Very good service from the head chef serving who made us feel very welcome and a lovely cosy vibe where we sat. Highly recommend and will be returning with friends.
Second time we have been. There is only one word, Fantastic!!!!
The carvery was brilliant, meat was tender and the veg gorgeous.
I would highly recommend this place, I wish we didn't live so far away, I would come here regular!
Just wanted to thank all at the Hobnails yesterday for a fabulous meal for 18 of us for my Mums 70th. All enjoyed the carvery very much. Veg was all replenished as we all got our meal and sat down together! in a very busy pub but you coped fabulously with the volumes of people. My favourite place for a Carvery and a very Happy Birthday girl.!!
Had a fantastic breakfast that set us up for a brilliant day at Cheltenham races, they had everything you’d want on offer. We even had a carvary later which was just as fabulous as breakfast made to feel very welcome and highly recommend to anyone will definitely be booking in for next year. Thanks so much to all of you
Fantastic meal , thank you chef for cooking me some fried cabbage! Will definitely recommend your lovely pub to all family and friends. The two evenings that we spent at your pub the staff were lovely, very friendly without being overbearing. Nothing was too much trouble, thank you
Carvery was excellent, meat just fell apart and the garlic spuds were the nicest i have ever had, and could of had just that and meat on the plate only bad thing was they ran out of doombar and the barmaid recommended a hpa, which was absolutely mingin and was left also play area for kids is lookin a bit rubbish and could do with an upgrade other than that its a beautiful pub with bangin food and well worth a visit
Can't go wrong doing my favourite Wadworth 6X and a superb carvery, even on a hot day.
Been there many times before,by far best carvery around, plenty of veg to choose from and meat is great quality.
Amazing food, amazing carvery, amazing desserts and have never had no problems with the staff there. 10/10 in my eyes. And we are regulars here. Reading some of the reviews on here I just think people got nothing better to do than moan.
Amazing carvery, would highly recommend. If you have room for pudding the chocolate orange torte is gorgeous too
Staff friendly and pub has really nice atmosphere
A beautiful old inn with plenty of seating. We had five carveries . The meat was so beautifully done, tender and delicious (I had the pork and beef) and the vegetables were superbly done and presented. I love my meat but I would go back just for the vegetables. The staff and the chef were so helpful and welcoming. Very reasonably priced as well. A sombre day outside, cold and foggy but it was cosy and welcoming inside. Huge area outside with a lovely childrens play area. We will be back.
7 off us had a lovely carvery and service was great, would definitely recommend
11 of us descended on this beautiful olde Inn for my wife's birthday. we booked the carvery and found it to be absolutely fantastic
The entire meal was delicious and amazing value for money with a choice of 14 different veg and 4 different meats which was cooked to perfection, veg was perfectly cooked and mountains to choose from being refilled constantly
Would I book again - without a shadow of a doubt but it's crucial to book in advance to avoid disappointment as it gets extremely busy
8 of us met here for a carvery first thing was couldn't find any one to book us in after booking table ages ago no organization then sat at our table and were shocked at touching the table our hands stuck to it had to peel my phone off it ... food was lovely but had to wait in queue for 45 minutes .. then were told need your table in 15 minutes when we all eventually sat down to eat when there were loads of tables free ... on exiting the premises was shocked at how much food was on the floors obviously people eat differently in these parts lol .. won't be ever going back ...
The staff are very polite. Few problems are that they don’t have WiFi and the spuds were very hard to cut. Other than that everything was fine.
I must admit that I have really enjoyed the hobnails in the past with excellent food, especially the selection of veg and there was always a pud that would set my tastebuds going.
I have just been with family tonight and even though the carvery was tasty, it was not warm and this was the second time in a row where it has not been hot enough.
Unfortunately I could not even be tempted by the puds that were on offer (this is just personal taste) to rectify my dinner.
We also noticed that they have put the prices up on the food and drinks.
I'm sad to say that I am a little disappointed with my hobnails experience tonight and will think twice before going again
Came with my partner this afternoon we both ordered fillet steak, I had medium rare and he had medium well done.
After waiting over 40 minutes for our food to arrive both of our steaks were very well done/slightly burnt.
I sent mine back but my partner ate his.
I had to wait another 20 minutes & by then my partner had already finished.
And unfortunately the second was well done again!
I waited a further 15 minutes for a waitress to check back but in the end I ended up taking it to the bar to complain.
A different member of staff then gave us a 75% refund which is the only reason it's not a 1*.
We would have understood a little bit more if the restaurant was busy but there was only 1 other table!
Extremely disappointed & unfortunately we will not return after today's experience.
