Ye Olde Kings Head, Chester Description

The Ye Olde Kings Head was built in 1622, on foundations dating back to the early 1200's, boasting Elizabethan fireplaces and timber recovered from one of Admiral Lord Nelsons sunken ships, this inn has many stories to tell. During a refurbishment in the 1930's, a sword was discovered hidden under the floorboards of bedroom no. 4. This can now be seen hanging proudly on the wall of the bar.

We stumbled upon this little pub one Sunday afternoon for food enjoyed it that much we booked a room, great service and the staff are very friendly, breakfast in the dinning room was an experience all mediaeval theme (loved it). We can't wait to come back. Thank you

User

We stumbled across this lovely little pub last night as it was close to where we were staying. The ambience is really nice and the pub has such character. The manager made us feel really welcome and even when the pub had quietened down later in the evening there was no rush on us to leave. We will definitely be calling in again on our next visit to Chester

User

We stopped by for a wonderful freshly cooked hot breakfast. The beautiful pub is steeped in history and the odd ghost story! Was even visited by Most Haunted! Our food was served by a lovely young lady named Jasmin who not only was efficient and polite but full of facts and information regarding the history of the place.Well worth a visit and maybe next time we will stay over👻

User

We had a fantastic two night stay here last week. The staff and owner were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent, as was the meal we enjoyed in the pub on our second evening. The history of the place is enchanting and we simply loved our stay. Read some negative comments about the showers before we went but have to say we didn't have a problem at all.

User

We always come to this pub, the food is good the beer is good and the staff are so very friendly . 1st class.

User

Watched the Lions down Columbia in this great historic pub. Barmen were super friendly and provided excellent service. Decent selection or real sales and the food was good.

User

Popped in as wanted to visit old pub. So friendly Loved. Wanted food but not available on night. Went back later and again thoroughly enjoyed mostly due to young man on duty and availability of history. Disappointed no food but maybe next time. Charismatic atmosphere but nothing strange observed. Definitely visit again

Just back from a fabulous weekend in Chester. Everyone was friendly but the hospitality in the olde kings head was a step beyond. We were made incredibly welcome. Luke and the rest of the bar staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay and they sure know how to serve a gin and tonic! We will definitely be back!

User

User

Had this pub recommended for good food so went and had a roast dinner, tip top food and brilliant friendly service, stunning open fires, went back for round 2 and booked a room for the night, beautiful old building with all the wooden beams, medieval theme up in the dining room, Can't rate this place highly enough, the team are so friendly, helpful and can't do enough for you, we'll definitely be back again soon. 5* buliding, 5* team running it, 5* food, see you again soon!

User

Great service, really friendly staff. Decor is lovely and food is great. Definitely going back

User

Great pub with the most splendid staff stayed here over the Easter break and had the most fab time the new breakfast menu is fab as well the pancakes were the nicest I have ever tasted

User

From the moment we checked in the staff couldn’t be more helpful or friendly. The embience was exactly as expected oldy worldy and full of character and quirkiness. The Sunday beef was delicious and we didn’t leave a morsel. Generous cheese plate and topped off with a great nights sleep, helped by the laughs and giggles of the possibility of seeing a ghost in our room!😅👻 No ghost but a great breakfast washed down with excellent coffee that set us up for the day touring Chester. Can’t wait to return definitely recommend it to anyone wishing to enjoy a relaxing weekend.

User

Came here two weeks ago for a drink with our little en staff were amazing Luke the manager couldn’t of been more helpful outstanding the owner took time out to show us the rooms we booked that night for arrived here today to stay and were greeted by Luke who remembered it was my fellas birthday and gave us first drinks on the house. Absolutely wonderful welcome amazing staff outstanding room definitely staying here again highly recommended

User

Amazing welcoming atmosphere and staff. Lovely decor and great beers. If I lived in Chester this would be my local.

User

A fantastic place to eat, listen to live music or stay. The staff are friendly and can't do enough to make you feel welcome. I can't recommend it enough.

User

A beautiful welcoming Inn. My partner and I only stayed 1 night but would have loved to stay longer. Log fires. Delicious food. Immaculate room. Amazing staff. Candles. Hearty breakfast. Wonderful olde worlde atmosphere. Although being 6ft tall wasn't advantageous for my partner with the low beams and few brandy's. Will be back very soon. A well deserved 5*
