User

Went for the all you can eat sushi.

We just loved it! We loved the food, so we ended eating too much, but at least we managed. We loved the way the salmon was made, and all the vegetarian sushi.

The service was also attentive and helpful. 10/10.

We will definitely come back next time, and I would recommend to everyone!

User

came yesterday and used an itison deal - food was lovely i went for the Korean fried chicken with chips ate every bit and had a large wine- prices for wine were steep but that's the normal in restaurants like this ! would recommend.

User

Went tonight for the ‘all you can eat sushi night’. Quite enjoyed it. Sushi was nice, could have been a little bit colder but that’s just my preference. Service was completely fine, was concerned after recent reviews but I went as a party of 4 and we were served big portions quickly and the servers were quite quick with the second and third rounds.

Portions were 12 pieces of Maki or 6 Nigiri per portion, which I thought was quite a lot.

All in all, thought it was excellent value for money and would definitely consider going again.

User

First time thought I give it a try. Customer service was excellent, we were seated quickly and food was brought to us promptly on order. Sushi was decent , Sashimi is fresh, miso soup is good and the teriyaki chicken and beef was delicious. However at £18.90 per person it was a bit expensive given the selection.

User

No mention anywhere that it is now mainly a Japanese restaurant. No option of eating off the main menu if there is a gig on.

Review is based on the concert menu.

At £18 for two courses it is definitely not worth it. Portions are very small and the staff want you in an out as quick as possible. We were in and out within 30 minutes. If we wanted a fast meal we would have went to The China Sea.

User

Was looking forward to a good Chinese meal with my daughter before the little mix concert, only to be disappointed with the menu n to be told it’s change to korean food 3 months ago 🤦🏼‍♀️ No chips 😱 n the pre concert menu was bloody awful.

User

Very average...hot and sour soup average, overpowering with lemon grass and chicken curry was like a cheap packet curry sauce poured over chicken and onions...rice I think had been reheated...

Irn-Bru and parking were good...

User

Totally disappointed ruined our Valentine's dinner menu was appalling if it wasn't for the sushi we would have left starving.... couldn't eat my main as if tasted like a whole bag of sugar was added...no ramen... we will never b back

User

Booked a table after looking at their menu online. Was looking forward to their sushi platters specifically, only to get there and be presented with a very limited pre theatre menu. When I asked for the main menu I was refused. We were too tired to find another restaurant so decided to try their pre theatre menu. Sake was very nice, and the soup was nice, but the main course was very questionable. The chicken in my curry was so tough I just couldn't eat it. So for £18 per person to have some soup and rice - no thanks and will avoid in the future!

We went for food before our show at the Hydro. We booked a table for 4.45pm, when we arrived it seemed they did not have our booking but did seat us at a table. Our drinks order was taken promptly but waited a while for our meal order to be taken. We ordered from the pre-theatre menu, 2 courses and waited for our food to arrive. This is where things went wrong, others who arrived after us were getting their starters while we still waited, we had to ask a couple of times before they arrived. The starters were lovely however and we enjoyed them. Once the plates were cleared we waited for our main courses. However this was a very long wait. We had to ask where our main courses when 6 o'clock came round, and we were told 5 mins, again no main meals arrived eventually they arrived at 6.15pm, my fried rice was cold however and the doors open at the Hydro at 6pm. We had to rush our food down.

Although the food was good the time waited and the service was terrible. Avoid going before a show as you may need to leave without eating which many tables had done or miss the show you booked.

User

Very disappointing. Advertise a kids menu on website however once we arrive and seated with drinks we were told a kids menu doesn’t exist it’s only one pre theatre menu. Kids could order main and dessert from that menu however no starter option was available for kids. We therefore said we would just have 2 courses as well main and dessert so we could all eat at the same time however were told no adults 2 courses was starter and main only. The service was also very poor had to ask them to clear our table and ask if we could order desserts. The food options they explained didn’t come as we expected therefore there was lots of wasted food some dishes not even touched. I’m not a fussy eater but honestly it was the worse meal I’ve had.

User

Very disappointed after booking online I was looking forward to our pre little mix dinner, I had used restaurant before a concert before food was lovely Chinese, we arrived after being stuck in traffic on route ! I’d rang to say we would be a few minutes late. To find out the restaurant had changed to Korean which I do like, my niece not so much! We ended leaving as the waiter explained they don’t do chicken fried rice chips or prawn crackers anymore . Headed upstairs to the American diner which was nice. They need to change there website as I can see many people being disappointed 😔 too.

User

This is actually a Korean restaurant now, has been since July. Nobody tells you this when you book or arrive, they wait until you've ordered drinks then surprise you with it when you find the menu alight odd. As far as the new places goes, poor menu and food is not particularly good. Also very overpriced considering what you get. Avoid!

User

Terrible service.. not a restuarant more like a conveyor belt ! Horrible feeling everything is mass made and just served .. No prawn crackers... No cocktails or cocktails and only pre concert menu... lady insisted I have rosie wine no thanks.. food was okay just mass production wont be back trying to get everyone in and out quickly not a nice service then card machine asked if you would like to add gratuity???

User

Our table was booked for 5 p.m. The waitress took our order, but didn't write it down......worrying. Starter arrived fairly quickly. We then had to wait over 45 minutes for our main......and that was after having to tell staff. Food was lukewarm. People came in after us, but were served before. We saw meals being taken to wrong tables more than once. We HAD been going to have dessert, but didn't have time. I feel it was a case of not enough staff. A disappointing start to what was a special evening for my husband and me.

User

Not worth the money. The sushi buffet didn’t have a lot of verity. Just basic sushi was very disappointed about this. I do not recommend at all.

User

Honestly one of the worst experiences I've had in a long while.

We went for the all you can eat sushi and well..... after 4 small plates between 3 of us over 2 hours, I'm definetly not satisfied.

Service was abysmal and had to constantly ask where our food was after waiting over 40 minutes for our first serving.

Save your 13 bucks and go to yo sushi or another establishment.

Won't be returning......get in the bin.

User

Dreadful meal & experience at the Yen yesterday night before concert at the Hydro. Poor service, poor atmosphere, poor food from a shabby pre-theatre menu. People were having to wait over an hour for drinks and food! Staff busy but not enough of them working to cope with the amount of bookings. Also they weren't very apologetic or helpful if you complained. Deeply disappointed about our experience and we won't b back to The Yen unless things change.

User

Don’t waste your time. Came for the all you can eat sushi. First off took a while to find our booking then waited 40 mins to make our first order and 30 mins between plates. Managed 4 small plates of sushi between 3 of us over 2 hours. Complained and got told “it’s busy” even though the place was half full.

Go to Nippon Kitchen in town. Might spend more but at least you’ll get fed!
