York and Albany is a consistently excellent restaurant. I've been visiting for over eight years both on business and for pleasure. The ground floor area has windows onto a small garden/yard area and is ideal for lunch. Downstaris the seating area fronts an open kitchen and has a great (and theatrical) atmosphere for an evening meal. The food is excellent - portions are more than adequate without stuffing you and the ingredients are of high quality. The place is well run with very friendly and high quality staff who are always helpful.
Went there nye and it wasn't as expected
Re attended and what an amazing experience the staff are knowledgeable friendly and the food was absolutely amazing
I actually ate fish for the first time will be attending again and again
We stayed for one night in the Suite and it was gorgeous. First night away for us in a while so our expectations were high reading other reviews. The suit was spacious and light. Somewhere we could have just stayed the whole time. Our evening meal was delicious and although the portions appeared slightly on the smaller side, they were perfect and after 3 courses we were both comfortably full. I’m definitely a breakfast girl, the whole overnight thing for me is about breakfast the following morning. We both had the full English with toast, juice and coffee. It was delicious. A relaxed, chilled atmosphere to watch the world go by. I would definitely return. My husbands only gripe, and it’s not the hotels fault, was the traffic noise outside all night. I was refreshed, he wasn’t.
We spent one night here the room was charming, lovely comfy bed, had a complimentary glass of bubbles before we went out for the evening, continental breakfast was included we upgraded to a full English for an extra £5 and it was delicious 😋 we thought it was very clean , the staff were very pleasant and helpful, we would definitely return and book for dinner.
We have just stayed for the weekend which was a present for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Our room was very comfortable with everything you could have wanted tea & coffee machine, dressing gowns & slippers all supplied. We had an evening meal and breakfast included the evening meal was either a set menu or the cost of your voucher was taken off if you used the A la Carte menu which we found a bit confusing but must say the food was excellent they had noted that it was our anniversary and presented us with a decorative fruit board. The breakfast was well presented and arrived hot and looked very appertising. All the staff were pleasant and helpful we wanted to leave our cases earlier in the day which they were very happy for us to do. Drinks were very expensive but did get a complementary bilini or presecco and they didn’t have any house rosé but offered us a bottle of rosé for the price of the house wine so couldn’t complain overall we had a very enjoyable stay
Just returned from a lovely week staying at Y&A and it was perfect in every regard!
We were in a Superior Room, which had plenty of room for the 2 of us. The bathroom was HUGE ( by london standards) and the infloor heating was fantastic to return to after traipsing around London for the day.
Breakfast every morning was wonderful, as were the flat whites! we only upgraded one morning as the "continental" offering was so impressive! The most beautiful fruit salads, the yogurt with granola and fruit compote....almost worth the trip alone!
Y&A was the perfect base to tour London, we found ourselves riding buses most often as the views from the second level were fantastic! Buses to take us anywhere we wanted to go were no more that 2 blocks away. After a busy day in "downtown" London it was so pleasant to be back in relative quiet of Camden Town in only 20-30 mins. Returning to the same few faces at reception and our small boutique hotel made the london experience so intimate.
With so many places to eat we only did dinner one night at Y&A. We opted for pizza from the wood burning oven. I was somewhat embarrassed to be "that guest" to asked to be seated in the less formal pizza parlor rather than the formal dining room and the staff were happy to accommodate! The pizza was fantastic, as is to be expected! and HUGE! we ordered 2 but one would have been perfect for sharing.
Thank you so much to the entire team at Y&A! you made our trip perfect!

Had dinner here before Christmas. Great place for a drink and perfect ambiance. The food servings were huge and not to mention delicious! Staff friendly and courteos!
Fantastic place to stay and eat. We are very happy customers.
Brilliant service with amazing friendly staff.
Food was first class and could not fault it at all.
Summer open ravioli was great for a light lunch.
And the fish pie was full of flavour.
Literally just come back from there and I have to say that I thought the place was ok. The room was lovely and very warm and welcoming and staff were great.
The food however was not what I expected to be to Gordon’s standard. I know it was Bistro but it was not what I thought I’d get.
I was so excited to go there and even though I had a good time, I felt a little let down by how run down the place is.
The whole place could do with a face lift, outside and inside. They had big arm chairs there where the materials we’re split and they look about 100 years old. The decor on the inside of the Bar and Restaurant could definitely do with a change.
But like I’ve said the staff and the room were great which made it a good experience, that’s why I liked it and would defo go back.
We went there for my birthday lunch. Had a vaucher with set up menu with extra rosé and orange juice. The butternut sqash soup was nice but a too creamy. Than I had the salmon&cod pie which was wey nice. And a lemon meringe pie. Unfortunately the lemon meringe pie was frozen inside and the meringe wasn't baked at all just blow torched to make the colour. (This is definitely not Gordon Ramsay's standard) finaly I think over £10 service charge is a bit too much.
The hotel room was nice, the breakfast was great, but to be honest the evening meal main was distinctly average! We had sea bass, which was cooked well but the accompaniments were over seasoned, masses of salt and garlic, detracting from the flavour of the fish!! The menu was rather basic for a restaurant using the Ramsay name!!
Nice food however the toilets were in a dreadful state - taps clearly not washed for months, one male toilet without any seat and one blocked overall makes you think what the kitchens are like. 3 star only for the quality of my steak- won’t go back though
Booked for Afternoon Tea with a voucher which had been gifted to us. Having been to various venues I was rather looking forward to this one, but it sadly fell rather short. Presentation was good, there were no choice options with regards to sandwiches. The scones were rather dry and tasteless. No further tea offered.
The bill was paid by voucher but they presented us with a service charge bill plus water (which we expected to pay for).
So be aware of paying by gift voucher- you still need to pay service charge!!!
Will not bad recommending to friends sadly.
Went Saturday late lunch 14.5.17 birthday 9 adults 2 children staff I will say were very good but..... Food not as good Gordon Ramsey needs to attend this restaurant and eat very disappointing chips with burgers very cold we had to send them all back so of course didn't enjoy meal as expected far better restaurants in London I would not recommend and prices expensive.
Silly place why stop serving breakfast at 11 on Sunday ? Do a proper all day menu like everyone else in london ? If the Wolsey can do it so can you . Also I don't mind Paying 12 plus service for mushrooms and two eggs but serve them a bit more fancy than just with a sprig of parsley . No wonder this place is empty when it's so beautiful to look at ! The only reason why we come is because everywhere else is packed but you guys on a Sunday ! If I was a Ramsay shareholder I would expect something to be done to increase productivity. Anyway the waitress was terrific tho
Just arrived home from spending the weekend in London. The first night was at York and Albany, we paid for an upgraded room then discovered the hotel had upgraded us again to a suite which was amazing. The main reason visiting was obviously the food.. a 3 course meal. On booking I did state I was vegan. The response, “no problem we have a variety” I thought great. When we arrived at the hotel I made a point of saying again I was vegan. Sitting down to look at the menu and order I was extremely disappointed to see no vegan options and when I quizzed and asked I was told there was no vegan starter option and I had to have a salad for my main with fruit and sorbet for dessert. Clearly no forward planning for my arrival. After complaining they offered me a risotto starter. To say this is a GR hotel/restaurant the options were so disappointing. So to clarify, a Pea Risotto, a Plain Potato Salad and Fruit with Sorbet. I’ve heard GR is trying to be Vegan. If this is the case the restaurants/chefs need to up their game. In honesty I’ve made better at home. Won’t return to eat but would visit for a drink. Great location. Wish I could be more positive.
Worst hotel room in London.
The room number 3 of the York and Albany is the worst hotel room that anyone can stay in London. Next to the bedroom window is a motor that makes a deafening noise. It is impossible to sleep in this room. How can anyone offer a room that is impossible to sleep?
Unfriendly maid, poor service and in a restaurant of this level it is inadmissible that the french fries are frozen like in fast food!
