I am pleased to announce earlier than planned that the tearoom will reopen today from 1pm and there will be Lemon Drizzle cake on offer. Simply irresistible tasting as usual!
'More than eight years!', I regularly reply. 'Really? I can't believe I lived here all these years and didn't know this place existed!'
There is a reason most people don't know the nursery gardens and tearoom exist, despite how many years they've lived locally! The nursery was never a place designed with visitors in mind, but a place where all the things that happened, happened behind closed doors and behind ten ft holly hedges. Yes it's been eight years since I personally to...

Sorry but our Outside-In Seears Park Nursery tearoom will be closed this week from Monday to Friday inclusively, but will re-open again as normal on Saturday and Sunday and all through the half term week that follows. I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this temporary period but the nursery itself will be open according to available volunteers. The scheduled school workshops and volunteer activities remain unaffected and continue as normal. I look forward to resuming normal service as usual at the earliest convenience. Regards Kevin
Cheam is such a wonderful place with so much well known local history, but would you like to know something amazing that not many other people if anyone knows? Ok let me tell you the in a nutshell version...

'Restricted opening hours today'
Please note that the nursery tearoom will only open today from 3.30pm until 5.30pm and any consumption of delicious cake will be restricted to within those couple of hours. I apologise for the inconvenience to any tastebuds this affects and hope to resume normal salivating hours promptly. Have a good cake free part of the day - Kevin
St Dunstan's Church and a Tale of two graves (This is part of Yourspacesutton's research and heritage timeline project)
If you live in or are local to Cheam, chances are that you know of the Lumley Chapel and it being the oldest building of the borough, and that it stands alongside the Parish of St Dunstan's, or that you've walked through through the pathway that cuts through its graveyard that's set around by many very old graves. Cheam Village has so much established histor...

Before and after (all the struggle that came in the in between). So much happens all the time around the grounds of the nursery that it's hard sometimes to really realise just how far each corner has come and the only way is to occasionally stop and look back and take measure. I've said it plenty of times I know, but the whole of the Seears Park Nursery was in a state of long term neglect and terminal decline that there was no way to believe that people would ever one day see...

A big thank you to Derek for the donation of 12 lovely sized goldfish that we've just added to our fish pond this week. The pond seems to be everyone's favourite part of the nursery and the tables and chairs around it are everyone's favourite spot to sit and enjoy their slice of cake and cup of tea. Maybe it's time you came and enjoyed the view being sat there too, there is no calmer blissful spot in all of Sutton, but then I am a little bit biased, but come and make up your own mind and enjoy it too, and the fact that we now have a few big fish in our big pond too!
A little bit of Cheam History by Yourspacesutton
As I set about plans to continue my Timeline History Project about this corner of Cheam, I thought I would re-post some of the earlier posts first to connect new page followers to the research first. All of the information in these posts are hoped to feature on site in our community project as part of our Time Tunnel project (which is part of the renovation of the last of our derelict polytunnels. This post below was first posted in January and it shows you that the entrance of our Seears Park still has the back entrance gates of John Seears mansion almost exactly as he left it over 100 years ago. hope you enjoy reading...
spent 2 hours here on Sunday- plenty to do for children and plenty to look at for all ages plus super cake and coffee!!x
What a truly brilliant place and I can only imagine it will go from strength to strength with the fantastic ideas that are afoot. Kevin is a true gentleman and is doing a very special thing with this wonderful space which will bloom, grow and flourish in every sense of the word. Cake was scrumdiddlyumptious too!
We visited the gardens and café over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it! Great to see a community project in its current state with amazing plans of what it will become with the help and support of local businesses and residents. We'll be back!
This is such a lovely place. We had a great morning. Thank you
So we made our first visit, initially for my son to see the frogs and newts. They have a lovely tea room with lots of things for children. While we were there my son did a scavenger hunt. It was fun and got you discovering things you may not have noticed. ALL the volunteers were really helpful and welcoming.
It's a lovely place and they are doing a wonderful thing. Really nice to spend some time there.
I messaged on here to check they would be open and got a quick reply that they would be.
Sears Park is an inspiration.I went to see it yesterday and I was so impressed at how it is developing. So many beautiful plants (some for sale) and projects under way. There is a lovely calm peaceful atmosphere there and the enthusiasm and passion by those who run it and the volunteers who work there is second to none :-) It will be lovely if it can be developed further as proposed as it would be such an asset to the community. My son worked there in 2010 on a volunteer scheme with college and loved it there.
Popped along today with my two little boys and we had such a fun afternoon, stroking toads, feeding fish, seeing frogspawn and a scavenger hunt ... thanks so much, so glad we’ve found you!
One of the best dog friendly places in Sutton. They have opened their Tea Room recently. I am pretty sure they have good coffee and chocolates there:)
My daughter absolutely loves it here, lovely staff, a wonderful place to visit

I love this place and my daughter does too!! It has something special and unique about it and the owner Kevin is one great man too!!
Had a luvly time at the craft fair today. My granddaughter and her friend enjoyed the “heart hunt” and planting a plant to take away. Great cup of tea and cake! Fab stalls and always good to see Kevin, Basia and the girls.
First visit today with my daughter and granddaughter, what a wonderful place, really welcoming, safe play area and spotlessly clean. Lovely tea and cakes. Loved the outside garden area and a must for us to visit again soon. Thank you Marie
Fantastic place with excellent child friendly facilities including slides, toys and baby changing facilities. Reasonably priced plants to buy too.
Been wondering for a long time now what this was all about as I walk my dog past this everyday.
I visited over the Easter weekend and was amazed at this beautiful space created by Kevin and his many volunteers. Bought many beautiful plants and they are doing marvellous in my garden won't bother with over priced garden centres anymore now I found this gem
As a registered childminder in Carshalton, I am always looking for new places to visit. This place came up on my Facebook page last year and I have taken the children a few times. The most recent was in the Easter holidays, where we were shown the wild life in the ponds and given a trail to complete. This kept the children occupied for a while, they loved looking for clues. Afterwards we were asked if we would like to pot a plant, which again they really enjoyed. I have just to return when not working so I can make use of the cafe for tea and cake!
Absolutely fantastic day out with my family. We had a beautiful walk, there is a nice place for coffee and cake, kids treasure hunt and more. Tks Kevin
