How do you want to feel when you look at flowers? Too often this a question we forget to ask clients let alone ourselves. We might know what flowers we like, or maybe what colours we respond to, but often mood is overlooked. Years ago I took a class at Zita Elze’s @zita_elze in London. One of the handouts I was passed contained an ‘adjective list’, covering everything from appearance to sound, shape and size. As a writer this delighted me, but two sets of words I found most interesting : ‘conditions’ and ‘feelings’. These two categories cover mood. For example: rich, tame, wild, tender, tough, prickly, and busy are all adjectives which describe conditions. “I’d like something tame in orange and white, please,” someone asks. A cat? But seriously how useful would it be to have a repertoire of these adjectives to clarify meaning and suggest aesthetic experience? #moodmanifesto .
