CAN VORSKLA BOW OUT OF EUROPE IN STYLE ?
FC Vorskla travel to Lisbon to face Sporting Clube de Portugal tonight in what will be both their last game of the calendar year and their final European game of the season!
Having lost to Arsenal in Kyiv a fortnight ago, Vorskla are mathematically already out of the Europa League before a ball is kicked tonight! However they will be hoping to gain some sort of respite against the Portuguese side who stole all three points at the dea...th during the reverse fixture back in October!
With Sporting having already qualified and unable to move above Arsenal into top spot, there is a chance that they will play an experimental side, giving all the more chance for Vorskla to get a positive result and not finish bottom of the group!
Whilst goals are hard to come by in this Vorskla side, they do have players capable of getting one when the opportunity arises. What will be key tonight is the Ukrainian side’s defence with the likes of ARTUR needing to be at the top of their game to shut out the Sporting attack!
Portugal is home to a sizeable Ukrainian diaspora so we hope a decent crowd will turn up to see last season’s UPL bronze medalists in action and rouse them to an unlikely win!

TWO DAYS. TWO GAMES. ONE STADIUM.
Less than 24 hours after rivals FC SHAKHTAR played Olympique Lyonnais - OL at the Olympiyskiy in Kyiv, it will be FC Dynamo Kyiv turn to play on the same pitch in snowy conditions! The Kyivans welcome FK Jablonec to the capital in a group whose outcome is already decided.
Fortunately Dynamo narrowly saw off FC Astana in Kazakhstan two weeks ago to secure top spot and can now rest easy going into the winter break. However due to events relatin...g to Shakhtar this week, this game now has an added impetus.
The Miners attracted over 38,000 people last night for their game at Dynamo’s home stadium, and many Dynamo fans were not happy about it. Oleksandr Khatskevich told the media that he anticipates a larger crowd for his own side’s fixture tonight... we will see about that coming to a head!
It is not clear whether any players will be rested for tonight’s clash, with two months of relaxation starting for Dynamo’s contingent from tomorrow.
Some youngsters may be looking to get a run out whilst others such as MYKOLENKO will be hoping to cap off a promising Europa League Group stages campaign with another solid performance at full back!

A GAME OF OLYMPIQUE PROPORTIONS AT THE OLYMPIYSKIY🥈❄️🔥!
FC SHAKHTAR host Olympique Lyonnais - OL in Kyiv tonight in their final UCL group game of the 18/19 season and the stakes could not be HIGHER!
After their dramatic last gasp 3-2 victory away at Hoffenheim on the last matchday, Shakhtar ensured that their Champions League fate back was in their own hands. Now they face direct group rivals in Lyon, for second spot and a place in the Round of 16 next February!
... Since their win in Germany, The Miners have encountered mixed results in the league, with a draw and victory. Fortunately JUNIOR MORAES is back amongst the goals and MARLOS returned from injury with a goal this past weekend. A welcome return that will certainly strengthen Shakhtar’s squad ahead of this all important game!
With neither side’s defensive capabilities showing any kind of solidity in the competition so far this season, it will end up being a tussle between who can outscore their opponent more competently!
Over 31,000 fans will be hoping that TARAS STEPANENKO can pull off another bicycle kick finish (as scored v Mariupol on Saturday) against the formidable French outfit! Fingers crossed for the spectacular! With Kyiv hosting, it’s not certain what the atmosphere will be like for Shakhtar but luckily it shouldn’t faze the side that have been playing away for almost 5 years too much!

WINTER IS HERE! The UPL has come to a close for 2018, for its annual winter break! In a weekend of fairly predictable results; FC SHAKHTAR returned to the Donbas with a 3-0 win over FC Mariupol ! They will be top during winter!
FC Dynamo Kyiv reclaimed second spot, gaining revenge on FC Karpaty Lviv , who had beaten them in Kyiv earlier in the season! Viktor Tsyhankov got a HAT TRICK as Dynamo won 4-0 in Galicia!
Meanwhile –§–ö "–û–ª–µ–∫—Å–∞–Ω–¥—Ä—ñ—è" came unstuck at home to –§–ö "–õ—å–≤—ñ–≤"... , who beat them 2-1 and condemned Oleksandriya to spending winter in third place!
Elsewhere, FC Zorya Luhansk defeated Arsenal Kyiv with ease as they saw the year out as 3-0 victors, whilst their rivals for 4th spot FC Vorskla also won their last league game of the year against Chornomorets 1-0 !
In the other remaining UPL match, –§–ö –û–ª–∏–º–ø–∏–∫ drew with –§–ö –î–µ—Å–Ω–∞ 1-1 to solidify both sides' positions in mid table over the hibernation period!

WILL VORSKLA GET VINDICATION IN KYIV?
FC Vorskla welcome Arsenal to Ukraine today for what was supposed to be the biggest game in Poltava’s history! However, after serious panic and a complete overreaction from UEFA in response to the introduction of martial law in some parts of Ukraine (NOT IN POLTAVA), the game will be played hundreds of miles north in Kyiv!
The club and fans have been promoting and looking forward to this fixture ever since the draw was made and despite ...the best efforts to ready the Oleskiy Butovsky stadium; volunteers helped to clear ice and a cover was placed over the pitch. Despite this UEFA wouldn’t budge!
It is unlikely many fans will be able to make the game in Kyiv tonight, with work commitments, logistics and the last minute timing hindering this. With 21,000 tickets had been sold for the game in Poltava, we seriously sympathise with everyone connected with the club over this farce!
Returning to the football side of things, Arsenal have travelled with a heavily rested squad; a majority of the the players being from the youth squads! This is something Vorskla should be looking to take advantage of and look to extend Arsenal’s winless record in Ukraine! YURIY KOLOMOYETS will be looking to break his goal drought and there could be no better game to do it! We hope Vorskla get some positivity out of this week and we anticipate goals!

BATTLE FOR THE TOP IN ASTANA!
FC Dynamo Kyiv travel East to Kazakhstan to play FC Astana ! They will be playing at an extremely early kick off time due to the time difference but luckily with a closed roof and artificial pitch, the weather won’t have too much impact on any final result!
Dynamo go into the game on the back of a shock loss to –§–ö "–û–ª–µ–∫—Å–∞–Ω–¥—Ä—ñ—è" and will be hoping to instantly turn their form around tonight as they did against Stade Rennais FC following their pre...vious league loss to FC SHAKHTAR .
Having drawn against Astana in the opening group game in dramatic fashion, Dynamo have turned it around and now sit top of the table. However, that 2-2 draw showed Dynamo’s frailties at the back and their lack of ability to see a game out.
It will be down to their key players like MYKOLA SHAPARENKO to play pivotal roles in the middle of the park to link play with the likely leading forward BENJAMIN VERBIC ! They have been scoring goals recently but will DENYS BOYKO be able to put his mistakes behind him? As long as Dynamo don’t lose tonight they should be guaranteed top spot with FK Jablonec coming to Kyiv in December!

IT’S MAKE OR BREAK IN GERMANY TONIGHT!
FC SHAKHTAR travel to TSG Hoffenheim tonight in a must win Champions League Match for both sides. With qualification for the Round of 16 hanging by a thread, it’s more than likely that whichever side comes out on top tonight will be playing in the Europa League come next spring.
The reverse fixture in Kharkiv ended 2-2, and it leaves Shakhtar on the verge of missing out on knockout European football for the first time in years!
... After a poor run of recent performances from Shakhtar, including a 6-0 hammering at the hands of Manchester City and a 0-0 draw with ФК "Львів" in the UPL, they will need to seriously step up their game tonight if they want to have a chance against Julian Nagelsmann’s squad.
Shakhtar’s dip in form looks to lie in part down to the loss of star man MARLOS, who still needs recovery time after sustaining an injury almost a month ago. Added to this, RAKITSKYI also misses out tonight with KHOCHOLAVA looking likely to replace him.
It will be down to TAISON, the club captain, to unlock the German opposition’s defence and a competent referee, whose decisions don’t detrimentally affect the flow of the game!

THERE WERE SHOCKS GALORE IN MATCHDAY 16 OF THE UPL! Both FC SHAKHTAR and FC Dynamo Kyiv dropped points on a weekend packed with big results!
–§–ö "–õ—å–≤—ñ–≤" went to Kharkiv and came away with a point against the league leaders Shakhtar! Who says you need fans to stage an upset? –§–ö "–û–ª–µ–∫—Å–∞–Ω–¥—Ä—ñ—è" took it a step further and beat Dynamo for the first in their history with a 2-1 win at home! They leapfrog the Kyivans into 2nd place!
FC Karpaty Lviv lost their 5th consecutive home game... 2-0 against –§–ö –î–µ—Å–Ω–∞ whilst FC Vorskla prepared for their Europa League game vs Arsenal in midweek with a surprising 1-0 loss away to FC Mariupol !
Elsewhere, Chornomorets defeated bottom side Arsenal Kyiv 2-1 in the relegation scrap six-pointer and it looks like Kyiv's 'other' team will spend the winter break rock bottom!
In the remaining fixture of this match day, –§–ö –û–ª–∏–º–ø–∏–∫ claimed a point against FC Zorya Luhansk as the Luhansk side continue in their struggle to show any kind of consistency in what is turning out to be a under par season for them!

Shock results across the UPL this weekend has meant we’ve ended up with our worst Matchday Predictor score of the season 🤦‍♂️😂 Yes we ended up on ZERO! At least we won’t be able to do any worse! We thank the fans and we go again next week, where will we come back stronger!👏👏
Congratulations to our guest Дмитрий Штрайс who got one correct score and one correct result! If you haven’t yet had the chance to, make sure you read our interview with him about the processes behind designing the badges of Ukrainian clubs and other sporting related topics here:

The UPL RETURNS and so does the PREDICTOR for Matchday 16! With Ukraine having a relatively disappointing end to the year’s international calendar, we turn to the domestic scene, hoping it can bring some much needed respite!
This week we talked to graphic designer and Tribuna.com –£–∫—Ä–∞–∏–Ω–∞ blogger –î–º–∏—Ç—Ä–∏–π –®—Ç—Ä–∞–π—Å ! We had an extended chat with him after his design won the –§–ö –û–ª–∏–º–ø–∏–∫ new badge competition!
We touch on how he got started in the sporting design world and how thi...s has manifested into designing the logos for some of Ukraine’s most recognisable clubs! We also touch on his connections with Donetsk and how Ukraine has been the facilitator in allowing his design career to flourish!
Dmytro also takes in the Predictor this week, as we have a welcome return to competitiveness in the segment! Read our interview with Dmytro, our predictions and more via the link below / in our bio👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
