Alnwick Castle

About Alnwick Castle

One of Europe's most iconic castles - from treasure-filled State Rooms to Potter-inspired magic, a visit to Alnwick Castle fires the imagination.

Alnwick Castle Description

Welcome to the official Facebook page of Alnwick Castle, Northumberland, UK.

One of the largest inhabited castles in England, Alnwick Castle has witnessed battles, rebellions, tragedy and romance, and has been home to a variety of interesting people – from Harry Hotspur to Harry Potter.

Enjoy a tour of the collections of art and furniture in the treasure-filled State Rooms, or join an Alnwick On Location tour to find out about the Castle’s starring film roles.

Join our resident wizarding professors and prefects for a broomstick training lesson on the very spot of Harry’s first lesson. Learn medieval crafts and skills in Artisans Courtyard, before putting your skills to the test when facing the beast that lies within Dragon Quest.

What a stunning castle! Loved our day out here on Monday. Broomstick training was brilliant fun for all the family so funny! Soap making was good, my youngest loved the dragon quest, and dressing up, beautiful castle inside, gorgeous grounds. Just a lovely day out x

We visited in the summer school

Holidays. What a spectacular castle. My eldest loves Harry Potter so excited to go. The broom stick lesson was very funny and got some great pics. Other things to do like dress up, stocks , dragons. A great day out.

User

We only meant to stop here on our way back home as our daughter was a huge Harry Potter fan. What an absolute gem of a find ... We spend all day there resulting in us getting home way past bedtime.

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We loved how everyone stayed in character and went out of their way to make sure we had full exposure of what activities were on. From battling dragons in full costume, tile making, throwing rats at daddy whilst in the stalls, outdoor games, tour of the absolutely breath taking castle and broom stick training lessons. We had an amazing day. The history in this place speaks for its self. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a really good family day out.

User

We love this place. Buy tickets every year. The jester show is outstanding and the bird of prey show. Plenty of activities and the shop is well priced to. Highly recommended.

User

The broomstick lesson today was brill, I’m not sure who enjoyed it more, me or my daughter!! All staff were lovely as usual too!

User

Staff so friendly and helpful, went the extra mile to help my mum who uses a stick and allowed her to use he disabled parking area. She didn’t feel well whilst there and were so accommodating with a wheelchair and said if we are ever coming back to inform them a few days before hand and can book an electric wheelchair and they meet you in the car park! Food was delicious and well priced! Will definitely return as you can validate your ticket for a year to get free entry back in to the castle!

User

Please thank your friendly staff who arranged for a wheelchair to be brought to our car for me and then swapped it for one with bigger wheels when we got to the cobbles up at the castle. We later saw two of these members of staff separately who both asked if how we were and were we enjoying ourselves. Lovely castle and atmosphere. We can highly recommend a visit. The food was good too.

User

It was an amazing day out and worth the 3 hours drive for the day.The castle is amazing and the gardens are fantastic loved all the water features and Harry Potter was also a pleasant surprise. The family enjoyed the Broomstick flying lessons and now the whole family can fly a broomstick

User

I really enjoy visiting this area of the North East, the castle is mighty and a fantastic building. Gardens are kept in perfect condition and the water features are brilliant. It will be expensive to up keep.. We have tickets for both Castle and Gardens..

My only negative thing I would have to say not be able to take photos within in the Castle .. and reasoning behind it unknown .

User

Harry and Dumbledore were witty and spontaneous and the broomstick lesson can turn a gloomy day in to a happy one.

Overall, an amazing experience.

User

First visit to the castle - took a picnic and was a great day out. Very friendly staff and we validate our tickets for unlimited return visits for the rest of the year. :)

User

Excellent day spent here, the staff are so friendly and hospitable, the entertainment was funny and wonderful for adults and children. Especially loved the castle fool!

User

Despite the rain, rain, rain, we had a great day!

User

Beautiful castle was gob smacked awesome day out friendly &helpful staff well impressed

User

Absolutely fantastic castle and the gardens are beautiful, great day out for the family, we'll definitely be back

User

Incredible place but felt the signage was very poor for the castle. The garden signage was better.

User

Visited with my family on satarday castle and garden was amazing very very good but the food let this lovely place down :( we arrived when it opened and headed straight for the cafe to get warmed up but had nothing on no bacon rolls for the children or any morning food only cakes not so good and the food at lunch time for the children was only cheese or ham rolls no soft drinks or fruit . Thank goodness the views and castle were great and the poison garden was very good and educational.

User

Not much summer entertainment, my kids were bored quickly. Food is extortionate and small portions and greasy - 2 kids meals, pizza and fish & chips and bottles of water cost the same as the entrance fees of almost £40.

User

Been here before and loved it. Today we came and the broom stick training was booked up. Really disappointed with the cafe. Baked potato had no veggie topping option. They are happy to charge 1.50 for an extra topping, but not to take it off when you have a dietary restriction. Crap.
