Ampersand Inventions Description
My aim for Floor 4 is to create and manage a multi-functional space that will provide a creative and supportive environment for experimental and participatory events, charities and artists. I see this as an augmentation and aid to the other floors in Commercial Union House. I envisage the floor providing a project /performance space, lecture rooms, studios and workshop space for a broad range of creative practitioners (inc Fine Art, Craft, and professionals from other creative industries) as well as acting as a conduit for collaboration between these individuals and groups and non-arts professionals and community groups.
The project /performance space will utilize the front area of the building overlooking Pilgrim Street. One wing of the front will be dedicated to lecture rooms and five three-windowed studios. The project /performance space and lecture rooms are intended for use by groups from both within the building as well as external groups looking for space for both long and short-term projects. The back of Floor 4 would consist of studios, a joint communal area and a large kitchen with a ŌĆśdirtyŌĆÖ sink for artists working in screen-printing etc.

We had a great night at Micro-Lates. My son's autistic and can't cope with many public events. We were there for the Arcadea Halloween party - also great - but experiencing a beautiful, welcoming, multi-sensory space on floor 4 was a bonus. Thanks so much.
One of the best places for creative people in the north east - another fabulous Late Shows event on Saturday showed once again the vibrancy and buzz that is Ampersandinventions.
Knowing JonPaul his work is fantastically weird, brilland and inspiring. Looking forward to giving him another 5* after this event coming up which I know will be a crowd pleaser ’┐Į keep up the good work fella! X
Amazing creative hub with a lovely social area with a coffee bar and library, and a great mix of talented artists, designers, writers and other creatives! Definitely worth a visit for a cuppa and browse of Praxis gallery with a chance to mingle with local talent
