fantastic night at hypnotist show tonight fantastic value for money and staff superb. only issue some idiot with clear anger management issues on her work night out creating a fight with staff over nothing and no doubt she’ll put a negative comment on here towards event and poor waitress who she had in tears but sadly just someone wanting to create a scene to draw attention to herself. besides this my friends and i had a brilliant night and food and staff were 5*

We were a 20 strong party and we were looked after really well. The service was great the atmosphere was great with live music playing downstairs. The food was fantastic with not 1 complaint from any of us . Great night will be back.

We went to AYLI last night to celebrate our first wedding anniversary after getting married at AYLI last year. We were given a lovely table, and went on to have some amazing food! We had the sharing seafood platter to start and then had steak. I'm very picky with steak as I can't bear any pink meat...but the chef cooked it to perfection. The only thing I could fault was not enough seating in the bar. Tables seemed to be booked and reserved everywhere. Which left no more than 4-5 bar stools...which again were taken 😧Other than that great night..

We went here for valentines night it was fantastic! the service, the atmosphere and the food ���will defiantly be back soon

We spent yesterday evening in the Private Dining Room for my daughters 18th Family celebration. What a fantastic time we had! Lovely food and cocktails and fantastic service from all staff but the lovely Tom excelled by really looking after us and attending to all our needs making us feel very welcome resulting in an amazing time for all, Thanks again Tom! �

We spent this afternoon in the private dining suite for my auntie’s 80th birthday. We cannot thank Henry enough he really looked after us and we were so pleased with the service we were never without a drink. Every business needs more staff like Henry!

We had the most amazing wedding day at As You Like It last month and cannot recommend it enough! The venue is stunning, so quirky with lots of interesting places for photographs. The food was beautiful, we had a 3 course meal and gave guests a choice for each course, and it all got a massive thumbs up! The service of the food was amazing too, so well organised, with the waitresses serving to each person by their name which we thought was a lovely touch. We offered guests cocktails, wine, prosecco, all were perfect and well received. The star of the show for us though has to be the amazing service we received from Nicole, Maddy and the rest of the AYLI team. Through all of the planning, to our taster evening, and then the big day, they have gone above and beyond to make sure everything was absolutely perfect! We cannot thank you all enough and wish we could do it all again!

We celebrated our Daughter's baby shower in the beach hut area on Saturday 16th June. Such a great space for holding a nice gathering. Staff were amazing. Especially floor manager! I think his name was Dale? Thanks a million! You were so helpful and nothing was a bother. Will highly recommend As you like it to all my friends and family.

Thank you so much for an unforgettable wedding day. Stunning room (the Frangipani Suite), great service and seamless structure/organisation from the team (huge thanks to Maddy who was incredible, and of course Nicole who helped us to plan what was the best day of our lives). The food was fab, too - as we were married at 4pm, we chose a hot fork buffet which was delicious - while the ‘Something Traditional’ drinks package was more than ample for our 80 guests. Shout out to AYLI’s chosen DJs as well, who played our rather eclectic choices from death metal to club classics, and had people on the dance floor from 8pm til 2am. The whole thing was absolutely perfect for our 1930s themed November wedding. My husband and I can not recommend this place enough!

Nestled in one of the city’s most popular spots in Jesmond, As You Like It (part of the Apartment Group) is a picturesque, stylish bar and restaurant set over three extensive floors with a wonderful garden terrace. On entry, I was automatically absorbed and in awe of the gorgeous surroundings. Chandelier after chandelier, lighting of astute elegance catches your eye and prints a picture of happiness in your mind. Excited, we were taken to our seats to the restaurant situated on the third floor. We were sat at a great viewing point to the lower floor staging area which was excellent on the night as they had ‘Battle of the Bands’ playing. There wasn’t an empty seat in the house and the place was in full swing but was the food going to taste as fabulous as the setting had suggested?

First, our waiter on the night, Francis, asked us what we would like to drink. With many cocktail options available, we decided to go for an Apple Spiced Gingerbread and a Geordie Zombie. A sensational mixture that infuses right before your eyes, the apple and spicy ginger combines fantastically well together. My colleague hadn’t realised what he had let himself in for with the Geordie Zombie, wow it was strong but it had a sweetness that made up for its power. In saying that, there is a limit of only two per customer.

To start, we ordered Tomato and Pepper soup accompanied with a large slice of freshly cooked bread and Build your own Sticky Pork Pancakes with sharp cheese, shredded cucumber, chopped spring onions and sour cream. The soup certainly had a kick to it and was right on the money. Pulled and slow cooked, the pork was oozing with taste and with the sharp cheese especially, brought the pancakes to life. I’ve never had pork pancakes before and I was beginning to question why…

In between courses, we decided to order a bottle of Tosti Extra Dry Prosecco and took a moment to gather our thoughts. To be having dinner, with acts serenading us in the background as we ate, we got the feeling it was about to be a night to remember. Observing the crowd, we weren’t the only ones in our element as most people portrayed noticeable cheer on their faces. Francis, who was a perspicacious host, brought us the bottle of prosecco and two glasses with raspberries in at ready… The celebrations had begun just not on our behalf but for As You Like It...

For our main courses, Francis kept us right and gave us excellent recommendations as the menu has a range of options. We ordered Harissa Spiced Lamb and Halloumi Skewers with a chickpea, feta & green leaf salad, pitta bread, jalapeño sour cream dressing, honey glazed baby carrots and sweet potato fries and Slow Cooked Drunken Beef Chilli with proper chips, sharp cheese, sour cream and torn artisan loaf. The skewered lamb (served rare) was tender and juicy and the halloumi was a fulfilling veggie option. Big shout out to the pitta bread too as it was gluten free. Without doubt, they were the best skewers I’ve ever had from a restaurant. My colleague told me he couldn’t get enough of the beef chilli and he did his very best to devour the whole slab but the portion size defeated him in the end.

Although there was very little room for dessert, we went for Warm Dark Chocolate Brownie served with vanilla Beckleberry ice-cream and my colleague opted for Deconstructed Double Chocolate Cheesecake served with raspberry coulis and Chantilly cream. The brownie was soft, sweet and melted in my mouth. I absolutely loved the ice-cream. I need more of that in my life. The cheesecake was the star of the desserts. Sweet indulgence at its finest.

Overall, As you Like It is an establishment full of love and enjoyment and is made for special experiences. Sat in the best seats in the house, live bands playing in front of us, customers in high spirits and in the mood, top notch food and drink… It was impossible to be anything other than satisfied and we didn’t want to leave. Maybe it was the Geordie zombie, maybe it was the energy, but my colleague was overwhelmed by As You Like It and put the experience down as one of his top three so far stating that he had been spoilt tonight. I have to say, I agreed… But don’t take our words for it; you’ll have to allow As You Like It to captivate your senses by going and experiencing it for yourself. My score for As You Like It is 5/5.

Just returned from a fantastic family meal. We booked the private dining room to celebrate a 70th Birthday. I cannot thank the team enough especially Kathryn our waitress who was attentive, professional and helpful throughout.

Just had our complimentary Anniversary meal at As You Like It, for having our wedding there a year ago today and must say it was amazing. The food, service and setting was perfect. Would highly recommend for both a wedding venue and for a meal.

I was there on Friday for my daughters 18th and 21st birthday meal. We all enjoyed our meals and complimentary bottle of prosecco. The staff were all friendly and helpful , especially the young lady who served us. After the meal we had a great time dancing to a good band called moonstone. Will be back soon!

I visited as you like it with my wife on Saturday night for a meal, the food was really nice and there was a live band playing live music which was really cool, we're both loved it and we had an amazing time definitely the best place to chill out in Newcastle.

I came along yesterday to see Santa and have lunch with my babies � I have to say the event was amazing everything about the experience was amazing. It was magical Santa Claus, Mrs Claus and Ellie the elf were fab the best I've seen and my kids. On a whole the staff in the place were amazing we will see be booking again next year. Thank you for our lovely festive day yesterday �

First visit there was for a birthday celebration. There was a party of 7 people. We all had different food (including vegetarian) and we all loved it! Staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend a visit, we will be visiting again soon.

Beautiful venue, lovely atmosphere, was nice and quiet enough to have a chat without being shouted over by other tables or children. The food was beautiful and really nicely presented, plus the staff were super friendly and are always helpful! Really love this place!

As a regular visitor, I've always felt the Staff are brilliant here, finding them friendly and professional. Normally we go in the bar area for drinks but as this visit was my wife's birthday, we decided to go upstairs to the restaurant a have a meal. We were shown to our table by 'Chris' who gave us a lovely window seat. I have to say he was amazing his customer service ranks up there with the best I've ever had. He was attentive but not too Much. And he really enhanced my wife's special night.



The Food was incredible. My wife had a peanut burger which she throughly enjoyed it. I had the fish and chips and I have to say it was the best Fish I have tasted in a long long time. The batter was nice and crisp and golden and the fish was lovely and white.



I wouldn't hesitate to return here again. Next time maybe to try the Sunday Lunch

The staff are very welcoming, warm, friendly and helpful. Service from them and food was of a very high standard. Facilities for wheelchair accessibility was excellent. Loved the decor and quirkiness of the place. Would recommend it and will bring relatives and friends who visit Newcastle to experience ‘As you like it’!

Went last night for a works night out food was ok .took a long time to clear tables so we could dance . Music was rubbish to dance to would of liked a bit more selection for us older people. Not enough bar staff took ages to get served. Had a good time though

Ordered a vodka and coke and got given that shady pepsi max. Took it back to the bar, with no offer of a refund. It’s not hard to inform people what you’re serving them, had I of been told I could have changed it to something less disgusting! I Left after that, which was a shame, the band was good and the atmosphere was lovely. Maybe you should think about catering to the Coca Cola lovers of the world. I wouldn’t return on the basis I can’t buy my favourite bevvy after a long hard week. Shame.

Disappointed with my function for my daughters 18th birthday in August. I booked the room with the outdoor terrace but was told 10 days before it had been double booked. The area they moved us to was ok but guests had to go upstairs and walk through paying customers eating their meals.

Most disappointingly ... a huge frame full of photos of my daughter was accidentally left behind. No one moved it from beside the bar where we set it up , it was left in error as we were rushed out of the place. When contacted on 3 occasions since, as you like it "can't find the frame" and don't seem bothered at all.

Been today for Father’s Day very disappointing, the food was bland, meat was fatty and veg was hard � service was poor

Went for Sunday lunch today and have never experienced such shoddy service in a restaurant. Originally booked for 4 adults and 1 child using the meerkat 2-4-1 deal, this changed to 3 adults and 1 child. From being seated it took 28 minutes for anyone to come to the table to take our order. I can’t complain about the food, portion sizes were really generous and the pork was lovely. Plates cleared we asked for the dessert menu. 35 minutes passed without it being brought over so we asked another waitress to see one. Desserts ordered, 2 arrived while we had to wait for the others. We then asked for the bill and advised our server we were using meerkat. He told us at this point it wasn’t available on the food we’d ordered. It says nothing about this in the terms and conditions nor were we informed when ordering so he told us “on this occasion, as a one off” he’d put the deal through. This then resulted in a 20 minute wait while he tried to work out how to produce a bill with 1 meal free on it. The bill arrived and was wrong. We’d been overcharged by £20! This was of course queried and we had to explain to him how much we should be charged. Another 10 minutes passed while he amended the bill. Now that we’d been charged the right amount there was no one around for us to actually make payment so we had to go to the bar to pay. For 2 courses and 1 drink (we were never asked if we wanted any more drinks and there was no one there to take an order if we had) this took almost 3 hours. Less than an hour of that was actually eating. There were less than 20 people in the restaurant so I can’t even say that it was down to being busy that the service was so bad. Completely unacceptable and the only saving grace is that the 2 year old with us was in a very good mood so sat quite happily throughout. He certainly had more patience than me! Never again!!

Just returned from a fantastic family meal. We booked the private dining room to celebrate a 70th Birthday. I cannot thank the team enough especially Kathryn our waitress who was attentive, professional and helpful throughout.

Just had our complimentary Anniversary meal at As You Like It, for having our wedding there a year ago today and must say it was amazing. The food, service and setting was perfect. Would highly recommend for both a wedding venue and for a meal.

I was there on Friday for my daughters 18th and 21st birthday meal. We all enjoyed our meals and complimentary bottle of prosecco. The staff were all friendly and helpful , especially the young lady who served us. After the meal we had a great time dancing to a good band called moonstone. Will be back soon!

I visited as you like it with my wife on Saturday night for a meal, the food was really nice and there was a live band playing live music which was really cool, we're both loved it and we had an amazing time definitely the best place to chill out in Newcastle.

I came along yesterday to see Santa and have lunch with my babies � I have to say the event was amazing everything about the experience was amazing. It was magical Santa Claus, Mrs Claus and Ellie the elf were fab the best I've seen and my kids. On a whole the staff in the place were amazing we will see be booking again next year. Thank you for our lovely festive day yesterday �

First visit there was for a birthday celebration. There was a party of 7 people. We all had different food (including vegetarian) and we all loved it! Staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend a visit, we will be visiting again soon.

Beautiful venue, lovely atmosphere, was nice and quiet enough to have a chat without being shouted over by other tables or children. The food was beautiful and really nicely presented, plus the staff were super friendly and are always helpful! Really love this place!

As a regular visitor, I've always felt the Staff are brilliant here, finding them friendly and professional. Normally we go in the bar area for drinks but as this visit was my wife's birthday, we decided to go upstairs to the restaurant a have a meal. We were shown to our table by 'Chris' who gave us a lovely window seat. I have to say he was amazing his customer service ranks up there with the best I've ever had. He was attentive but not too Much. And he really enhanced my wife's special night.



The Food was incredible. My wife had a peanut burger which she throughly enjoyed it. I had the fish and chips and I have to say it was the best Fish I have tasted in a long long time. The batter was nice and crisp and golden and the fish was lovely and white.



I wouldn't hesitate to return here again. Next time maybe to try the Sunday Lunch

The staff are very welcoming, warm, friendly and helpful. Service from them and food was of a very high standard. Facilities for wheelchair accessibility was excellent. Loved the decor and quirkiness of the place. Would recommend it and will bring relatives and friends who visit Newcastle to experience ‘As you like it’!

Went last night for a works night out food was ok .took a long time to clear tables so we could dance . Music was rubbish to dance to would of liked a bit more selection for us older people. Not enough bar staff took ages to get served. Had a good time though

Ordered a vodka and coke and got given that shady pepsi max. Took it back to the bar, with no offer of a refund. It’s not hard to inform people what you’re serving them, had I of been told I could have changed it to something less disgusting! I Left after that, which was a shame, the band was good and the atmosphere was lovely. Maybe you should think about catering to the Coca Cola lovers of the world. I wouldn’t return on the basis I can’t buy my favourite bevvy after a long hard week. Shame.

Disappointed with my function for my daughters 18th birthday in August. I booked the room with the outdoor terrace but was told 10 days before it had been double booked. The area they moved us to was ok but guests had to go upstairs and walk through paying customers eating their meals.

Most disappointingly ... a huge frame full of photos of my daughter was accidentally left behind. No one moved it from beside the bar where we set it up , it was left in error as we were rushed out of the place. When contacted on 3 occasions since, as you like it "can't find the frame" and don't seem bothered at all.

Went for Sunday lunch today and have never experienced such shoddy service in a restaurant. Originally booked for 4 adults and 1 child using the meerkat 2-4-1 deal, this changed to 3 adults and 1 child. From being seated it took 28 minutes for anyone to come to the table to take our order. I can’t complain about the food, portion sizes were really generous and the pork was lovely. Plates cleared we asked for the dessert menu. 35 minutes passed without it being brought over so we asked another waitress to see one. Desserts ordered, 2 arrived while we had to wait for the others. We then asked for the bill and advised our server we were using meerkat. He told us at this point it wasn’t available on the food we’d ordered. It says nothing about this in the terms and conditions nor were we informed when ordering so he told us “on this occasion, as a one off” he’d put the deal through. This then resulted in a 20 minute wait while he tried to work out how to produce a bill with 1 meal free on it. The bill arrived and was wrong. We’d been overcharged by £20! This was of course queried and we had to explain to him how much we should be charged. Another 10 minutes passed while he amended the bill. Now that we’d been charged the right amount there was no one around for us to actually make payment so we had to go to the bar to pay. For 2 courses and 1 drink (we were never asked if we wanted any more drinks and there was no one there to take an order if we had) this took almost 3 hours. Less than an hour of that was actually eating. There were less than 20 people in the restaurant so I can’t even say that it was down to being busy that the service was so bad. Completely unacceptable and the only saving grace is that the 2 year old with us was in a very good mood so sat quite happily throughout. He certainly had more patience than me! Never again!!

fantastic night at hypnotist show tonight fantastic value for money and staff superb. only issue some idiot with clear anger management issues on her work night out creating a fight with staff over nothing and no doubt she’ll put a negative comment on here towards event and poor waitress who she had in tears but sadly just someone wanting to create a scene to draw attention to herself. besides this my friends and i had a brilliant night and food and staff were 5*

We were a 20 strong party and we were looked after really well. The service was great the atmosphere was great with live music playing downstairs. The food was fantastic with not 1 complaint from any of us . Great night will be back.

We went to AYLI last night to celebrate our first wedding anniversary after getting married at AYLI last year. We were given a lovely table, and went on to have some amazing food! We had the sharing seafood platter to start and then had steak. I'm very picky with steak as I can't bear any pink meat...but the chef cooked it to perfection. The only thing I could fault was not enough seating in the bar. Tables seemed to be booked and reserved everywhere. Which left no more than 4-5 bar stools...which again were taken 😧Other than that great night..

We spent yesterday evening in the Private Dining Room for my daughters 18th Family celebration. What a fantastic time we had! Lovely food and cocktails and fantastic service from all staff but the lovely Tom excelled by really looking after us and attending to all our needs making us feel very welcome resulting in an amazing time for all, Thanks again Tom! �

We spent this afternoon in the private dining suite for my auntie’s 80th birthday. We cannot thank Henry enough he really looked after us and we were so pleased with the service we were never without a drink. Every business needs more staff like Henry!

We had the most amazing wedding day at As You Like It last month and cannot recommend it enough! The venue is stunning, so quirky with lots of interesting places for photographs. The food was beautiful, we had a 3 course meal and gave guests a choice for each course, and it all got a massive thumbs up! The service of the food was amazing too, so well organised, with the waitresses serving to each person by their name which we thought was a lovely touch. We offered guests cocktails, wine, prosecco, all were perfect and well received. The star of the show for us though has to be the amazing service we received from Nicole, Maddy and the rest of the AYLI team. Through all of the planning, to our taster evening, and then the big day, they have gone above and beyond to make sure everything was absolutely perfect! We cannot thank you all enough and wish we could do it all again!

We celebrated our Daughter's baby shower in the beach hut area on Saturday 16th June. Such a great space for holding a nice gathering. Staff were amazing. Especially floor manager! I think his name was Dale? Thanks a million! You were so helpful and nothing was a bother. Will highly recommend As you like it to all my friends and family.

Thank you so much for an unforgettable wedding day. Stunning room (the Frangipani Suite), great service and seamless structure/organisation from the team (huge thanks to Maddy who was incredible, and of course Nicole who helped us to plan what was the best day of our lives). The food was fab, too - as we were married at 4pm, we chose a hot fork buffet which was delicious - while the ‘Something Traditional’ drinks package was more than ample for our 80 guests. Shout out to AYLI’s chosen DJs as well, who played our rather eclectic choices from death metal to club classics, and had people on the dance floor from 8pm til 2am. The whole thing was absolutely perfect for our 1930s themed November wedding. My husband and I can not recommend this place enough!

Nestled in one of the city’s most popular spots in Jesmond, As You Like It (part of the Apartment Group) is a picturesque, stylish bar and restaurant set over three extensive floors with a wonderful garden terrace. On entry, I was automatically absorbed and in awe of the gorgeous surroundings. Chandelier after chandelier, lighting of astute elegance catches your eye and prints a picture of happiness in your mind. Excited, we were taken to our seats to the restaurant situated on the third floor. We were sat at a great viewing point to the lower floor staging area which was excellent on the night as they had ‘Battle of the Bands’ playing. There wasn’t an empty seat in the house and the place was in full swing but was the food going to taste as fabulous as the setting had suggested?

First, our waiter on the night, Francis, asked us what we would like to drink. With many cocktail options available, we decided to go for an Apple Spiced Gingerbread and a Geordie Zombie. A sensational mixture that infuses right before your eyes, the apple and spicy ginger combines fantastically well together. My colleague hadn’t realised what he had let himself in for with the Geordie Zombie, wow it was strong but it had a sweetness that made up for its power. In saying that, there is a limit of only two per customer.

To start, we ordered Tomato and Pepper soup accompanied with a large slice of freshly cooked bread and Build your own Sticky Pork Pancakes with sharp cheese, shredded cucumber, chopped spring onions and sour cream. The soup certainly had a kick to it and was right on the money. Pulled and slow cooked, the pork was oozing with taste and with the sharp cheese especially, brought the pancakes to life. I’ve never had pork pancakes before and I was beginning to question why…

In between courses, we decided to order a bottle of Tosti Extra Dry Prosecco and took a moment to gather our thoughts. To be having dinner, with acts serenading us in the background as we ate, we got the feeling it was about to be a night to remember. Observing the crowd, we weren’t the only ones in our element as most people portrayed noticeable cheer on their faces. Francis, who was a perspicacious host, brought us the bottle of prosecco and two glasses with raspberries in at ready… The celebrations had begun just not on our behalf but for As You Like It...

For our main courses, Francis kept us right and gave us excellent recommendations as the menu has a range of options. We ordered Harissa Spiced Lamb and Halloumi Skewers with a chickpea, feta & green leaf salad, pitta bread, jalapeño sour cream dressing, honey glazed baby carrots and sweet potato fries and Slow Cooked Drunken Beef Chilli with proper chips, sharp cheese, sour cream and torn artisan loaf. The skewered lamb (served rare) was tender and juicy and the halloumi was a fulfilling veggie option. Big shout out to the pitta bread too as it was gluten free. Without doubt, they were the best skewers I’ve ever had from a restaurant. My colleague told me he couldn’t get enough of the beef chilli and he did his very best to devour the whole slab but the portion size defeated him in the end.

Although there was very little room for dessert, we went for Warm Dark Chocolate Brownie served with vanilla Beckleberry ice-cream and my colleague opted for Deconstructed Double Chocolate Cheesecake served with raspberry coulis and Chantilly cream. The brownie was soft, sweet and melted in my mouth. I absolutely loved the ice-cream. I need more of that in my life. The cheesecake was the star of the desserts. Sweet indulgence at its finest.

Overall, As you Like It is an establishment full of love and enjoyment and is made for special experiences. Sat in the best seats in the house, live bands playing in front of us, customers in high spirits and in the mood, top notch food and drink… It was impossible to be anything other than satisfied and we didn’t want to leave. Maybe it was the Geordie zombie, maybe it was the energy, but my colleague was overwhelmed by As You Like It and put the experience down as one of his top three so far stating that he had been spoilt tonight. I have to say, I agreed… But don’t take our words for it; you’ll have to allow As You Like It to captivate your senses by going and experiencing it for yourself. My score for As You Like It is 5/5.
