Great news Cask Ale is back on from Friday starting with White Hot from Consett Ale Works

After the festive season is over 17 will be promoting Try January. Each week we will have different Cask Ales, Cider, Gin and a Cocktail of the week. 10p a Pint and 20p per Gin & Cocktail purchased will be donated to The Angel Trust. #supportyourlocal

Big thank you to everyone who turned out for a Boxing Day drink yesterday. What a turnout. Bar will be open from 5pm tonight.

Went for a meal Friday night with friends ; food was great and was a fantastic night . Highly recommended. Nice family restaurant/ bar.

We went this evening, as a couple, it was our first visit here and we went upon recommendation of a friend to celebrate 8 years since we met.

Lovely atmosphere; staff couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing , we could not fault it. It may have taken 40 mins ish to arrive, but it is 'made to order ' and very much worth the wait. I would highly recommend this bistro and plan to go back on another up and coming special occasion.

This place is a hidden gem, gorgeous surroundings, food was fabulous and cocktails to die for. Lovely friendly owners best night for a long time, will definitely be back and would highly recommend �

One of the best watering holes in town. Food, drink and service 100%. Definitely recommend No 17 for Sunday lunch. Keep up the good work �

My husband and I thought we'd try the restaurant for food tonight, we have been in a few times for drinks. All we can say is AMAZING!! Food was absolutely delicious! Home cooked, lovely setting, and the staff are just lovely and friendly making sure that you are looked after all night, we are looking forward to going back and trying the steak! Me and my wife decided to pop in for some drinks and ended up staying for food, due to the fact the staff are so welcoming and friendly. What a lovely place just what Bishop needs a friendly bar with great wine, great food and fantastic atmosphere. Now booked for the next 2 days

Just back from a meal at No 17. First night of their set menu and it was amazing. Superb fine dining dishes - tastes, flavours and textures all balanced perfectly. Top quality meal for a bargain price too. Top marks to the chef and service staff. Amazing. I'm super impressed (plus you kept me mam happy too and that is no mean feat!) Well done 17 ! :-D

I love all the little touches in there and the owners are so friendly. I had such a good night sitting in the bar drinking delicious cocktails after our food. The food was to die for. The most delicious food I've eaten in a long time. I can't wait to go back and take my husband with me, he's going to love it (and he's very selective about where he eats) I will be recommending this place to everyone!! So lucky to have it in Bishop Auckland too.

Had breakfast here today, one whopper and one small and couldn’t finish it all. Was so delicious we are going back again tomorrow. Quality and size brilliant

Food was great my little girl loved every bit of it too and the staff couldnt be nicer. Made us feel more than welcome on our first visit especially with 2 children under the age of 3. We will be back very soon. ☆☆☆☆☆

Absolutely brilliant night, had a few lovely drinks and amazing food and the nicest welcome I could have asked for. Honestly the nicest meal food i have had in such a long time! The veggie burger was the best I have had. Highly recommend! I shall be bringing everyone I know!

Went on Saturday night with a friend and had a couple of cocktails (2 for £10), I found the bar staff not very friendly and the glass I was given had chip marks all the way around it! I took it back and didn't get any apologies, the young girl rooted around for ages trying to find a new glass and ended up going out the back to get one I guess from the kitchen! Was disappointed with the quality of the cocktail, staff and general ambience of the place! Won't be rushing back �

Went for our Christmas work night out. Friend of mine booked a table for 7 a month before. They failed to mention it would be a set 3course Christmas meal for £22.95. She also rang a few days before to change the number due to some dropping out and they still failed to mention it was the Christmas menu and nothing else. I ordered prawn cocktail to start, came on a plate with a 3 triangles of brown bread ( I would of thought it would of come with a nice roll or slightly abit more presented). I had turkey Christmas dinner with all the seasonal veg, which was okay, missing carrots. Yorkshire pudding was cold, pigs in blankets could of been abit longer cooked. The best part of the whole meal was the pudding, sticky toffee pudding, was lovely. I ordered a Malibu and coke. Coke was very flat as they are just poured out of bottles. Food was very average was nothing to shout about. Atmosphere was abit bland, no music. Services seemed very rush as there was another party of 25 in while we were there. We were rushed to make our order. Although we sat down at 7pm and left at 10pm. Although we did get 10% off for the inconvenience for not been told about the Christmas menu. Only one positive is that one of your party didn’t like any of the dessert options. So they did go out of there way to provide her with what she liked. Unsure weather I would return in a rush, but I have heard such great things about there Italian menu, that I maybe willing to give this ago. Although I wouldn’t really recommend the Christmas menu. Apart from that the company I was with made it all better.

Table booked for 8pm, didn't sit til 8:40. Table cloth smelled like feet and had to be changed. Didn't eat til 10pm, 2 meals had to be changed after ordering because they didn't have the ingredients, fair enough, but then still brought the meals out wrong and had to be sent back. Two steaks ordered rare came out medium, surely a chef knows the difference? By that point we gave up on complaining because it was awkward. The staff were friendly and the bar was lovely, food was ok in the end even if not what we asked for but the customer service wasn't up to much. Not even an apology or complimentary drink. Would def go back for a drink but not food. Shame as we were looking forward to having somewhere fab in bishop and wanted to support local business but it was disappointing.

Food is terrific, service needs a LOT of improvement. Had to wait for cocktails; asked to order but didn't have menus; menu was different to what was advertised on website; couldn't use the coffee machine to make a cappuccino (don't know how to); dessert was served with a soup spoon as all the dessert spoons had been used. Not returning and wouldn't recommend.

Called in to book a table for 5 people, was told to look online at the menu, had a look, and we'd decided what we wanted, when we arrived we were given the Al Carte menu as the other menu was a day one and not in service yet !!! It does not say on their Facebook page or website that this is the case ! A large white wine with lemonade was £7.85 to add insult to injury ! A massive Thankyou to Allan Barker @ The Top House for saving the day, meal with dessert & drinks £75 !

Pre-ordered food the day before, 5 of us ordered steak and 2 ordered the rack of lamb, on the night of our meal the waitress said that only one of the rack of lamb was available, that was ok but when the meals were served neither were served the rack...!!

2 of us ordered fillet one medium rare and one rare, one came medium and my fillet wasn’t badly cooked but couldn’t eat it as tough as old boots, didn’t even look like fillet more like rump, left a full plate and the waitress cleared plates and wasn’t even going to ask what was wrong with my food!!! Told her how bad it was and obviously didn’t tell anyone as I was still charged for it, mentioned this to the manager and she even asked the waitress if I had eaten it..Cheek of it!



No atmosphere, bad service, wouldn’t recommend to anyone, the owners didn’t even say thank you or goodnight they just stood outside and stared as we left...more interested in sitting at the bar drinking than training the staff... #hopeless place

On the eve I went with a friend we were extremely disappointed. The food was the worst I have ever been presented with. We did get our glasses of wine free in an attempt to compensate but really such poor food should never have even got to our table. Real shame as venue looks so inviting. Think they need to either drop the food and just concentrate on drinks and bar or get a chef and one who is passionate about good fresh produce. Would not like to think visitors to Bishop thought this was the best we had to offer.
