We have been meaning to eat here since Michael and Victoria took over the pub. I have lots of great memories of Saturday evenings spent here with Humshaugh cricket team and am glad to see the history of the pub being preserved with the photos. Always known for good beer and that hasn't changed. We had the two course lunch for £15 which was good value for money. Chicken liver parfait with tasty spiced apple chutney followed by hake (much underrated fish that is lovely) and chips for my other half. I enjoyed the fillet of salmon with crispy skin cooked perfectly in a beurre blanc, new potatoes and tenderstem broccoli. Portion size just right so I was able to indulge in the cherry frangipane tart.

We sat in the bar, nice comfortable seats. Much to recommend here and will be back.

User

The food here is beautiful, but what impressed me more was the incredibly helpful staff. Today my daughter became very anxious when the bar became very busy while we were eating our Sunday lunch. This meant she was unable to continue eating. They were concerned that the meal may not have been up to their usual high standards. When I explained the issue they were incredibly understanding and offered to reheat the meal and move us into the restaurant. We had to be somewhere else so declined the offer but on my request they were happy to wrap the food up so we could take it away. What made this extraordinary for me is that my daughter is an adult and at no point did I feel that she was being judged as can sometimes happen. Thank you for today.

User

The first time we stayed here was by accident - another local hotel 'forgot' our booking, and when we turned up we're full. To be fair, they arranged for us to stay at the Barrasford Arms. On the basis of a fabulous first stay we went back again last Saturday - and it was just as good. Cheese soufflé to die for, the best lamb I've ever tasted, a lovely Malbec, and friendly helpful staff who are professional but not too formal. Alongside gorgeous Northumberland .....what could be better ?!

User

Really lovely lunch, food was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

User

Really friendly, great food and lovely room

User

My husband and I spent a fabulous long weekend staying at The Barrasford Arms whilst walking Hadrian's Wall. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly, and owners Victoria and Michael were excellent at making sure we were very well looked after. Our room had a lovely view over beautiful Haughton Castle and was very comfortable and clean.

The highlight of our stay was the food in the restaurant which was absolutely terrific. The cheese soufflé starter for dinner was simply sensational. This was followed by main courses such as coley in an incredibly delicious fish sauce with tempura tender broccoli stems, and home produced baby tomatoes that were to die for - bursting with tangy flavour. The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection. The fondant potato that accompanied the pan fried chicken was creamy and delicious. All cooked to complete perfection. Everything we ate - the wonderful cooked breakfasts and evening meals were just fantastic and we can highly recommend The Barrasford Arms.

Lovely evening meal sitting out in the sunshine. Fantastic Food

User

Just stopped of for a drink in the beer garden - and what fantastic views!!! Didn’t eat but the menu looked lovely.

User

Just had an amazing lunch here today. The menu is full of local and homegrown produce, with quality local ales available at the bar. The new owners Michael and Victoria clearly know what they are doing, and I can only see this place getting better and better!!! Well done and good luck both of you!!

User

Just had a black pudding Scotch egg and slow roasted belly pork at the Barrasford Arms-- both delightfull.

High House Farm ale was beautiful

First time in the village and pub -- what a tranquil place, we will be back soon.

Thanks

User

I went here for the first time today with a few friends, we received a lovely warm welcome and felt very looked after. It had a lovely old fashioned pub feel but with a boutique feel to the service and dining. Limited but lovely menu but great choices. After much thought we all went for the fish and chips. The food was amazing, I have never eaten so much food in one sitting, the chips and fish were so light and tasty. And the mushy peas and tartar sauce tasted homemade and really special. I can't wait to go back. I've already told my boyfriend that's where our next date will be.

User

I stayed at the Barrasford Arms for three nights!

I enjoyed it immensely, and I received an absolute VIP service!

The food was fantastic and the room was great!

And it was fantastic having breakfast overlooking a medieval castle!

I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
