It’s that time of year again! Trust you are all excited about the budget tomorrow! Of course you are!
As always, we’ll be bringing you live updates and a report tomorrow on the business insights and impacts of the budget.
What are we expecting? While we have no crystal ball, there’s likely to be little to cheer about from the Chancellor.
... The Treasury have already widely leaked funding for new grammar schools. That is likely to be the headline act.
There will also be a further few hundred million made available for existing school developments and improvements.
For businesses, the bad news is that NIC for the self-employed is likely to increase by a third to 12%.
Better news comes in the much discussed relief for business rates to the tune of 300 million – though how the chips will fall on this still unclear.
There is also expected to be half a billion of funding for vocational training, 1 additional billion for social care and, alas, an increase in alcohol duty!
But come back tomorrow for more – we could well be wrong, and you never know, ‘Spreadsheet Phil’ may still pull a rabbit out of his magical hat…
