It's that time of year again! We have our bake off swèepstake ready, will Emily win 2 years in a row...
Another busy day but our Carriages are in need of some TLC. Ken Gaskin is valiantly painting the roof but ideally we need a team of volunteers and some expertise to keep the Carriages maintained. If you would be willing to give up some time to help with the maintenance of our Carriages or if you have some expertise then please get in touch #AlnvalleyRailway #HeritageRailways #TanfieldRailway
We will be welcoming a group of 40 cars from the Jaguar and Daimler club of Holland this lunchtime between 12pm and 2pm. We will be closed over the lunch period to cater for this group. If you are thinking of visiting please make it a little later. Thanks

We have just reached 1000 likes! Thanks to everyone who follows us and supports us. It is our sixth anniversary this weekend, call in and wish us "happy anniversary" to receive a voucher for a cream tea for one!
In the debate as to whether you should put jam or cream on a scone first we are definitely #jamfirst !
visited here whilst visiting family in Bellingham. soup and a sandwich great value. only downside no coffee cake but never mind what we had was lovely x better luck for the cake next time :)
We stumbled upon here by accident. But what a lovely surprise. Hubby and I both went for the soup (potato and leek) tasty and creamy without being rich. He opted for the cheese scone accompaniment and I the roll and croutons. With a pot of tea. Staff were friendly and informative. We were mesmerized by the birds on the feeders outside
We called here before we spend the day at Kielder Water birds of prey centre. So glad we checked the area out before we headed out and found this place. Our kids loved the idea of sitting in a train. It was soo quirky and different. Food was delicious! We even after our meal treat ourselves to a fruit scone, cream and jam. Which was amazing! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back as there were more cakes we wanted to try 😋
Superb Tearoom /Café next to the Heritage centre in Bellingham, Northumberland.
Converted from a former British Railways Electric Train and appropriately placed in the formation of the old Railway Station.
Good choice of food and drink at reasonable cost.
Sunday lunch delicious!
Staff fun and friendly really quirky place afternoon teas looked delicious too.
Stunning, well worth a visit. The scones are to die for, staff are lovely to.
Popped in with my hubby and we had scones and tea. It was so lovely and we got a huge pot of tea. Such a nice place with lovely friendly staff and the food looked amazing x
Original & quirky, took me back to train rides past. The food is absolutely delicious & very reasonably priced; we spent a lovely hour or so having afternoon tea. Also enjoyed watching all the birds feasting at the feeding station. Staff very friendly. Would highly recommend!
My dad always loved coming to the carriages for dinner and told tales of the enormous meringues he was served which he was convinced were bigger than anyone elses and that he had a hard time finishing them as it would have been rude not to (yet oddly this never seemed too much of a hardship for a meringue loving gentleman) . Thank you for catering both my mam and dads funerals you did and wonderful job on both occasions and would be happy to recommend your services to all xx
Met my sister there yesterday and enjoyed a gorgeous cream scone and coffee. A gorgeous little place with really lovely, friendly and patient (I was too busy chatting to look at the menu ) staff. I'll definitely be back and be recommending to friends 🖒
Lovely little place - and they serve THE best hot chocolate
Had the soup and a sandwich option off the menu and it was beautiful.
Homemade cream of Mushroom and cheese and chutney sandwich, nice bit of salad and creamy coleslaw. Followed by a fruit scone with jam/cream.
Everything freshly made and comfortable carriage seats made it memorable!
Had a run out in Northumberland from Durham and it was on the itinery to call in thrte. Luckily there were seats available. The food was lovely, staff were friendly and looking forward to visiting again soon.
Had a lovely beef dinner followed by chocolate brownie, served with ice cream, cream and fresh strawberries. . Very nice indeed !
Staff were lovely as always.
Takes us 45 minutes to get there but worth the drive
Delicious delights in a lovely cosy carriage ;) Even on the coldest of days plenty inside to keep you warm and nourished! Will certainly be returning to try more of the menu!
Beautiful place and food after a short ride out..
Absolutely love this unique venue, first class service & food, all cakes etc freshly cooked on board the train no less!
Having a railway cottage holiday let myself nearby I happily recommend this to all my guests!
Highly recommend the carrot cake...
4 of us visited last Saturday for my mams 60th...the 'celebration afternoon tea' was out of this world and the service was great. A bunch of flowers given to my mam from the ladies working there was a lovely thought. Xx
