There have been quite a few parents going through anxious times over the summer worrying about Post 16 provision. Just remember to keep talking to your Local Authority - communication is the answer

There are lots of families going through the procedure of changing from Statements to Plans at the moment - my advice is to keep the communication open with your Local Authority. Often LAs are unaware when parents are unhappy with something and often parents don't know why decisions have been made - pick up the phone - keep talking.

Well it has certainly been a busy time for Mediation - I'm not complaining though. Surprisingly the cases have continued throughout the summer holiday period. Just for information - anyone who is looking for the Statutory Instruments relating to the new changes it is 2014 No.1530 The Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.

So the Dpt for Education guidance is out and it seems to be fairly comprehensive. Mediation is a must in the road to Tribunal. Really looking forward to seeing this come together. I'm always interested to hear other people's views so let me know what you think .......

Update on the Service - I have been doing some Mediation Awareness training for a Local Authority with a lovely parents group. Always good to learn new skills to help in those difficult meetings. They must have liked me because they have asked me back - love doing training and meeting new people x
