We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Night Porter to join our award-winning team at The Doxford Group.
Key responsibilities • Ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, compliance with the licensing law and cash handling procedures are met for our 2 venues with in the Doxford Group (Doxford Barns & Charlton Hall). • Delivering first class customer service.... • Assisting with any guests’ requirements. • Assisting with a busy night shift - this could consist of (but isn't limited to) serving and working on a bar until the event finishes. • Cleaning of all areas including bars, functions spaces, and public areas in both of our venues to the highest of standards. • Setting up either venue for functions and events in preparation for the following day. • Maintaining the venues safety and security procedures.
Part time, working weekends and evenings with potential increased hours during peak seasons.

What an amazing venue. We had our wedding here this week, the thought, care and help was second to none. Every single thing was taken care of and no ask was too great. A special thank you to Charlie, Abi, Gemma and Nicole, you were fantastic and made us feel so special and could not have done more to help. Anyone looking for a real rustic, country style rural wedding you can not go past this venue. Cottages across the road for all of your nearest and dearest to get together the night before and morning of the wedding. Absolutely awesome.

We were married at Doxford Barns on 7th April and we can honestly say it was the best day of our lives. Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to have this most special day at your amazing venue. We fell in love with Doxford Barns from the first time we saw it and truly believe there is no better venue in the north east. It is absolutely beautiful & even though it rained all day on our wedding it really didn’t matter as the internal venue is so gorgeous. We would like to send special thanks to Jess, Abi, Emily, Gemma & David. Jess & Abi helped us throughout the whole planning process & helped us to create our most perfect day. Emily is an absolute star! She was just amazing on our wedding day - she constantly checked I was ok throughout the morning, reassured me all was going to plan, kept me calm, covered me with umbrellas in the rain and was just so so lovely. It felt like a friend looking after me rather than a member of staff. Gemma was outstanding aswell and went above & beyond from the moment we arrived on the Friday. She was just as enthusiastic & happy to help at 2am as she was first thing in the morning. David was equally extremely supportive & helpful throughout and greeted all our guests with a smile. All of the other staff were fantastic aswell but we felt these 5 needed an extra special mention. Thankyou so so much from the bottom of our hearts. It is quite amazing how special you make each wedding couple feel and yet you obviously have many couples getting married each month. You seem as excited for the wedding as the couple and this is just so so special. Please never change, you have something so special at Doxford Barns and we will be eternally grateful for everything you did for us. Thankyou once again, Mr & Mrs Baty xxx

We had a fabulous wedding day at Doxford Barns at the weekend could not recommend this venue to anymore anymore than I have absolutely perfect day and there attention to detail was second to none. So professional, well organised.

Gina is so lovely with fantastic attention to details, she looked after us the build up to the big day, the morning of the wedding, throughout the ceremony and totally saved the day to make the day even better and we now have a funny story to laugh about afterwards with regards to one of the best men! �

David and Nick really lovely guys they looked after us after the ceremony into the evening they are so professional and want to make your day special. Even down to noticing the groom had not had much to eat so kept him a plate in the kitchen.

You will not be disappointed in choosing Doxford Barns to host your wedding the day exceeded our expectations thank you so much for everything...

We got married here in March. We attended Doxford Barns almost 2 years ago when were looking to plan our wedding. After looking around for 15 minutes and meeting some of the people our minds and hearts were set.



The communication throughout booking and leading up to the wedding was fast and efficient. The planning meetings and any random requests we had were easily accommodated.



We were extremely fortunate with the weather and were able to go to the lake for some stunning photos. Tom drove us and his son drove our photographers. When we got back as it was planning season we also had some photos taken with the lambs too.



I cannot praise everyone who works at this venue enough. From booking and planning to being there for us on the day. Any request was no big deal as they bent over backwards to ensure our wedding was the best day it could be. It's a well oiled machine full of genuinely friendly people. The food was stunning and fresh, you can tell it's all locally sourced.



A massive thank you from us for making our wedding so memorable and beautiful.

We got married at Doxford Barns a couple of weeks ago and it truly was phenomenal! We really couldn't have asked for a better venue. The service was outstanding - we were looked after so well by all the lovely staff. Gemma and David were remarkable; always on hand to help and never made us feel like a burden, despite us constantly seeking their assistance! They immediately put us at ease and couldn't have been any better. Emily and Abi were fantastic in making sure the ceremony ran perfectly and Jess, who sadly wasn't there on the day, was brilliant in answering all our emails in the 20 months between us booking the venue and actually getting married!

We would also like to mention the food. WOW. We went to a tasting evening a year prior to our big day and were blown away, but it was even better on the day! All of our guests commented on how beautifully presented each dish was and how delicious it tasted.

We would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone looking to have the perfect wedding day. We had high expectations after initially booking the wedding, but must say that the venue and staff ensured that the whole weekend was even better than we could ever have imagined. We can't thank the staff enough for how great they were with us. We will never forget it.

We cannot recommend Doxford Barns enough, our wedding was absolutely perfect and it was down to all the efforts of the staff, from the moment of booking to leaving on the Sunday they ensured myself and my husband and all of our guests were looked after. The venue itself is stunning, our ceremony in the Threshing Hall was beautiful and the food and service throughout the rest of the weekend was lovely. A big shout out to Gemma who was brilliant - she was on hand to answer any questions - she was so thoughtful and ensured it all ran so smoothly! Thanks again, we wish we could do it all again! This review has been a long time coming. I engineer a popular band who are booked for many weddings and we have played here numerous times. We have seen many venues and I have watched so many venues get it wrong. This place is so good, our drummer booked the place for the weekend for his wedding. Beautifully situated and presented, with staff who actually care. Food is top notch, drink is cold and not sour. Looking forward to the next time we're up your way!

By far the best wedding venue in the North of England...beautiful scenery, beautiful venue & Threshing Hall, very clean and comfortable accommodation and all the staff were fantastic from start to finish. Nothing was a problem and they made all of our wedding guests feel very welcome and looked after � my new wife and I cannot recommend this place enough, and it's also now certainly my band Hip Hop Hooray's favourite wedding venue too! � x

Thank you for the most amazing few days. Megan and I were so overwhelmed with everything the staff at Doxford Barns did for us. Right from when we arrived on the Tuesday afternoon to waving us off on Thursday afternoon the staff have been first class. John and the kitchen staff produced the most fantastic wedding breakfast, to get baked ham right for so many guests is so hard and it was all cooked perfectly. Every single guest commented on how good the food was and the fact every plate went back empty really speaks for itself. Johns passion for food really shone through! We went off menu slightly and he was only happy to work with us and create a veery special menu.

David and Gemma looked after us perfectly and took all the worry and stress away (even putting up all my photos and fairy lights at 11pm on the Tuesday) they worked so hard but never failed to have a smile on their faces.

Jess was brilliant right through the whole planning and wedding itself, her attention to detail and knowledge is second to none. Mate even made sure our dog was walked, fed an out to bed.

All in all the day wouldn't of been so memorable and happy if it hadn't been for the fabulous venue and staff.

Such an amazing venue with fabulous cottages for guests with absolutely everything you could ever need in them!

We had a fabulous weekend at our son and daughter in law wedding here with amazing food and service.

Staff were just fantastic and very friendly with nothing being to much bother. Fabulous wedding weekend had by all!

Quite literally the wedding venue of our dreams!!! Well, I'll be honest, my dreams (the hubby didn't have a clue about weddings until we started planning ours), but as soon as soon as we both paid a visit there was no other choice. Rustic, relaxed and yet so elegant and charming all at once.



Our wedding planner, Jess, was so attentive from the start and available to answer all questions, even on the day itself. The team had everything in hand, so all I had to worry about was not crying as I walked down the aisle.



The venue speaks for itself: from the threshing hall, to the great barn and the lake. I won't go in to much detail here... look at the website and then go see for yourself. Having so many different areas, meant there were plenty of places for people to relax and lots of photo opportunities.



The cottages were beautifully kept, and large enough to house two families and the bridal party. I especially loved all the little touches in the Hayloft, including the monographed shortbread!



The day itself ran like clockwork, the cocktails and canapés were complimented by the guests, and the wedding breakfast was to die for! The team allowed us to tailor our food choices to meet everyone's tastes and honestly, it was faultless... right down to the last slice of toast for breakfast the day after.



Alnwick has always been a special place for us, and Doxford has firmly cemented that sentiment. I cannot recommend them highly enough to any future brides-to-be!!

Our family and friends have just celebrated my daughter Jodie, and my now son in law Stephen's wedding at doxford barn's. What a fantastic venue.

We arrived on Friday 23 February for 2 nights stay at the venue, staying in the cottages. We were met by the lovely Gemma (Nicholson) who was coordinating the wedding.

There are 8 cottages all rangeing in size. The cottages are beautiful , clean and quaint, all with logburning fires, which is ideal for this time of year. There is everything imaginable for your stay, washing machine , fridge, cooker etc. A welcome pack of Milk, bread, tea etc was provided in each cottage along with toiletries.

On the Friday evening the family had a meal in the venue, which everyone agreed was absolutely beautiful.

I would like to thank all the bar staff for the fantastic job they did over the weekend, they were all pleasant, polite, and could not do enough for you.

Last but not least I want to say a very BIG THANK YOU to Gemma for making my daughter's wedding day so special and one we will not forget. Gemma you are a real Gem!!! It says so in your name!! You were the first friendly face we saw when we arrived, and the last face we saw when we left. Gemma is friendly, polite and respectful, and she could not do enough for you.

Gemma is an absolute asset to Doxford Barns, I hope Gemma gets the appreciation she deserves, and continues to be part of making many other people's wedding day a special one . Thanks again Gemma, best wishes to you and your team for the future.

Myself and my new husband would like to say a HUGE thank you to each and every one of the staff at Doxford Barns for helping to make our day truly perfect on Saturday! From the minute we arrived on Friday afternoon until the moment we left yesterday morning, nothing was too much trouble and everyone went out of their way to make sure our weekend went smoothly. The venue itself is simply stunning and speaks for itself and the food was just delicious! All of our guests commented throughout the weekend about just how amazing the venue was and we couldn't agree more! I would just like to thank everyone at Doxford Barns for making the day so special for everyone. This venue and the staff are fabulous and Heather and Ian could not have picked a better venue for their wedding. If you book with them make sure you book the cottages they are absolutely beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. The shared area at the rear of the cottages is such a plus also. We were all able to get together over the three days and relax and enjoy our stay. Big shout out to David and Gemma who could not have been more welcoming. I was at a wedding at Doxford Barns yesterday (9 July) and it was fabulous. The venue was lovely and the staff very pleasant, efficient, helpful, attentive, professional - basically exceptional. The guitarist/singer throughout the day and part of the evening was excellent. His choice of music and style was perfect for the occasion.

The food at the reception and the evening was first class and served very efficiently whilst still hot.

I was extremely impressed with the whole day and the efforts made by all involved to make it a very memorable day.

I had my wedding here and I couldn't recommend it any higher! The staff are absolutely amazing, the food was great and the venue itself is just beautiful. Many of our guests commented on how wonderful the service and food was. A special thank you to Abi who took great care of us from day 1 and Gemma who looked after us so well during the weekend. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Ben and I got married at Doxford Barns on 01.08.18 and I can truly say it was magical, warm and full of love. Being able to stay there the night before really makes the whole experience that little bit more personal and family orientated. We arrived to the venue and straight away Gemma was there to help, asking if I needed anything. Once I was in the Barn I had the wonderful Emily on hand to help me with setting it up. Between Gemma, Emily and I we got people in the right places so the food service the next day would run smoothly. Both of the girls were awesome the day before, without them I would have felt even more stressed.

I used to work with Gemma when I was in school and on the morning of my wedding to find out she was going to be running the day made me feel relaxed as I knew she would do everything in her power to make the day run smoothly. Any question I had she would have an answer to and if I needed anything she would sort it there and then. Throughout the meal Nick was so attentive and made sure Ben and I had drinks, checked the food was ok and always served us with a smile. He is a true gentleman.

I was happy to see Emily working on the day of my wedding as she was so great the night before and it meant a lot to have yet another happy member of staff. She would check I was ok and we had a few conversations throughout the day. When her shift ended she came to say bye to me which I thought was the nicest thing ever. It made the day feel more personal and that Ben and I weren’t just a number.

Lastly David and Nick were lovely on the morning after the wedding, they had put all of my belongings in on place for me to collect. Considering we had bricks as our centrepieces they did a brilliant job moving them all, as they were heavy. We didn’t feel rushed to leave the site, this I feel is great as we were able to just sit on the benches soaking it all up as the wedding day went so fast.

Overall the whole experience was what I imagined and more, everybody loved the food, they loved the venue and that’s all I could ever ask for. The staff helped me out over the days I was there and made us both feel so special. I can’t thank Gemma enough for running the day and the rest of her team that she had working with her. She is one hell of a woman. Thank you so much xxx

Attended a wedding here at the weekend and we can't rate the place highly enough. The team were exceptional and on top of every little detail. They really couldn't have been more helpful! In particular Gemma and David on the day were outstanding, very communicative and responsive to ensure the day ran as smoothly as possible. The venue itself is beautifully presented and the accommodation nicely finished and cleanly presented. Top marks! Thanks for a great weekend guys

Absolutely Amazing.

From Friday evening to Wedding on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday , the staff were truly outstanding, friendly, pleasant, helpful, even one member took some guest back to their accommodation at 1am how above and beyond duty is that. Venue is truly magical and romantic it has a fairytale quality at The Threshing Hall. Food fantastic everyone commented how fresh and local ingredients were. Cottages were superb, had everything you could need even down to dishwasher tablets. Very warm, we had a roaring fire also, which you didn’t need on, but was great to have, all logs provided. Could not fault a thing, words cannot describe, the amazing time we had at my sons wedding, everything went so smoothly due to the amazing staff.
